error 999 is a fairly common notification that pops up particularly with Yahoo sites and is not indigenous to Windows 7 BETA 1. I have had the same problem whilst using Firefox 3 with Linux, one of the reasons I rolled back to Firefox 2. In Windows 7 the default browser is Internet Explorer 8 BETA 2 which as yet is not particularly stable. I recommend installing and making Google Chrome as your default browser. I have found it to be lightning fast without any issues http://www.google.com/chrome You have no spyware or viruses. I have modest security on my Windows 7 with AVG 8 Free Edition http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-vi... and Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6 http://www.safer-networking.org/en/ running along side Windows 7 UAC set to medium. LUG.
I m on Win7 and I can access Yahoo answers just fine. It might be a temporary network glitch. Try once again and see if you can repro the problem consistently. If you can, there is a quot;Send Feedbackquot; link on the title bar of every window. Click that and it ll bring up a Report issue dialog. Put down the steps you were trying when you faced this error. The tool will even take a screen shot and submit it to Microsoft.
