Downloading Internet Explorer 7 for Windows Xp Service Pack 2? -

I have Windows Xp service pack 2, and tried downloading internet explorer 7 from www.microsoft.com I validated the program, then downloaded it. Once I did, I unzipped the file on my desktop, and all the files were unzipping, then I clicked next next next then install. After wards, it asked me to restart my computer, after I did it, I saw on my desktop the same unzip icon again. So I tried clicking on it, and what I just did happened again, it keeps going through the same cycle but I never see the internet explorer 7 so I can click on it and start using it. I don t know what the problem is, and it happened the same when I tried IE 6 and IE 5. Why after I restart I cannot use it, the same cycle keeps happening? Thanks.

Restore your computer to previous date and start again, but this time give it time do not rush the computer.

you dont want IE7. I downloaded it when it first came out and it totally screwed up my pc, so I had to go back and reset my settings to factory settings. I lost everything because of IE7. and yes I have an XP.

Trial version of microsoft windows 7? -

I just ordered a new computer and it comes with a 60 day trial version of windows office 7. does anyone now how much it is to purchase it from the 60 day trial that comes with a new computer, vista installed?

Some 400-500 dollars. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/produc...

Remember to say Microsoft Office 2007. Saying Windows 7 is the next generation of Windows OS s. For the Home+Student Edition it is around £120. http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B001545DSE Buying Professional will cost you £400 +

there are different versions. the cheapest version starts at $150

I currently have windows IE 7, if i get mozilla firefox 2 would my computer fun faster? -

If you think mozilla would run faster plz give me the link to the free download

Hi, Mozilla Firefox 2 will not speed up ur computer. Mozilla is a more secure browser than IE meaning u have less chances of getting infected with spyware and malware. The browsing experience will be safer but the time to for websites to load will generally be the same. People who say that Mozilla loads faster just feel it because they need an excuse to insult IE in my opinion. IE is one of the most popular and first few browsers ever created and most windows programs work better IE than other browsers. IE 7 which u r currently using is as safe as any other browser with its added features. If u do not need Mozilla for any specific reason then u should stick with IE 7. Good Luck and Take care!

not your computer but your browser, YES. I use both but mainly either mozilla, or opera

no the browser hasn t anything to do with speed, infact mozilla, firefox or what have you take longer to load then ie does. so actually your browsing experience will decrease.

from my own experience with both browsers, IE7 does feel like it has a noticeable lag in comparison with firefox. I have been using Mozilla for a few years now and have no hesitation in recommending it over IE7

When will Windows 7 come out? -

Be specific don t tell me no or i don t now please!

Release is currently stated for june/july 2009 (yes, they want people to forget about Vista as soon as possible) http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-100844...

Everything I have read so far says it should be out around X-mas 2009. But with Vista tanking so hard they might try to push it out early.

I m not sure, but a teacher at my college showed us a clip of this windows version called Windows Touch, its like the Smartboard

Beginning of 2010.

Windows 7 graphics card problem aero? -

Ok i have windows 7 beta on my pc i want to get aero theme but my nvidia graphics card does not have A WDDM driver i went to nvidia.com and took a look at the windows 7 bit it said you can download drivers via windows update but i tried that i and no updates came is there a way i can manually download the new driver? Thanks 3 hours ago - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 3 hours ago P.S you can tell me if the catagory is wrong but you need to tell me which one to put it in.

It s probably because the updates aren t associated with Windows 7 and instead with Windows Vista. They most likely won t send out updates because Windows 7 is in the beta stage.

Hmmm... It would help if you could identify the specific Nvidia card that you have installed. But if there is no WDDM driver written/available for your card yet, then no Aero for you, sorry. :) At least until the Vista-specific WDDM drivers for your Video card are released by Nvidia -- if they ever do. If the chipset inherently cant support the advanced effects on Vista, they won t bother. Sort of like what Intel did with their 915 Express laptop chipset: only XPDM (non-Aero capable) drivers, no intention of releasing WDDM drivers. PS. In most cases, if you see one available, you can actually use the Vista drivers for your card on Windows7.

it s a Beta release and here you are expecting to find drivers for everything .... you can t find half the drivers to get Vista running with not-so-old hardware and you want a Beta version of Win7 to be fully functional .... get real!

On my 7 I got these guys to help-if they don t have it you out of luck for a few months. http://www.windowsbbs.com/windows-7/ s_e_s

When i close a window in internet explorer 7, it closes all other internet explorer windows. How do I stop it? -

Incompatible add-ons will also cause this. - Right click the IE icon and choose Start Without Add-ons. or - Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

your closing it using alt+f4 or the x in the top right hand corner. If you look at the top of the explorer window, just under the tool / address bar and you will see tabs. Each tab has an X on it. The X will close that particular tab and leave the others open. Hope that helps. ^_^

Are you using tabbed browsing? If you are, just click on the tab that you want to close instead of the big x in the upper right corner.

Hi Yes , thats a little bog it has , try this , go into tools and select internet options then verify that it does not have the close all windows with the main windows. also , put to open TABS instead of windows , this way its easier for you to navigate and you only have to open 1 time the IE

Close only the open window and not the total internet explorer..... Click on the right cross.

Is the Windows 7 beta stable enough to use near enough full time till it ends? -

I can t be bothered to attempt to dual boot so is it? Alternatively, is it easy to dual boot from Ubuntu?

By definition, beta isn t stable and shouldn t be used on your primary machine. Though I ve found Windows 7 to be pretty stable (and am using it on my primary machine), it s possible that it won t like your hardware configuration as much as it did mine. It should be just as easy to dual-boot with Ubuntu as any other version of Windows.

go to virtualbox website and read the instruction on setting up a virtual box , with VB you can run several operating systems at the same time, Dual booting is old hat these days, get up to par with modern technology. click on the link below

I m dual booting it along Mandriva and it s rock solid, far better than Vista. Yes, but i used a separate NTFS (already formatted) hard disk for it. Follow this http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_...

No beta is stable enough to use on a primary machine. We will be lucky if the first released version is good enough. Rumors are that Windows 7 will install in a SP1 Virtual PC.

Trying to install Windows 7 Beta (7000) on a Mac? -

Hey guys. I have a new unibody MacBook and have downloaded and burned the Windows 7 Beta 7000 iso onto a DVD. I then partitioned my harddrive (16gb) using Boot Camp and went through the beginning steps of the install. My computer restarted and went into the windows install, however, when it was expanding the files, at about 42% the following error message popped up, quot;Cannot install required files - maybe corrupt or missing. Error code: 0 x 80070017.quot; I would love to get this up and running on my mac so any help would be great. Thanks so much.

ISO image downloads can often get corrupted, due to their massive size. Delete the existing ISO image and download it again. FYI: When burning ISO s it s best to burn them at the lowest speed your burner will allow. This can also help to NOT mess them up. TIP: 16 GB is way too small. Try 48 GB, as a bare minimum. The procedure is explained in the Boot Camp Help Files.

Vista to Windows 7, Free? -

I want your OPINION, Do you think that vista users will have a cheap or free experience when switching to windows 7?

It should be because 7 is just a finished version of Vista. But i don t think they will give it away for free. Lord knows i need it.

That would only be fair, since everyone agrees that 7 is just a polished and finished version of Vista, faster, and a smaller footprint. But you know they ll charge us for it.

Probably not. I think you can download a beta version of 7 right now. There s only a limited number and I don t know where from, but it would be free.

Better not. I did get the windows 7 but to many bugs i had, after that i reinstalled the windows vista again.

Cheap, probably not. Free, definitely not.

Cheap or free? No way.

When is windows 7 going to become available for purchase and installation? -

NOT THE BETA. I am getting a new computer for graduation in june. Will windows 7 be out by then?

Hello, I, like you, have also been keeping an eye on the Windows 7 release date. I have a 7 year old PC, and I was hoping to get a brand new laptop, and since Windows 7 is coming out, there is no point in getting vista in my opinion since 7 is way better. Up to this point, they have not mentioned a date. They have mentioned that they will not release any more betas, and that it will go straight to manufacturing when they release it again (no more betas or tests). The expiration on the Beta is in August. I would speculate June would be the absolute soonest. However, I am feeling like it will be any time between June-September. I don t think it will be any later than September for sure. It really depends on how many bugs and problems they find with the beta, and how soon they can get it ready for release at this point. What I have been doing is going every day to google, clicking the quot;newsquot; link, and typing in Windows 7. It is a great way to get the latest reports. I hope that helps, and hopefully we can get Windows 7! I personally think it would be a waste to get a new laptop with Vista since 7 is on its way.

Hi Kriss H, While we’re all kind of in the “hurry-up-and-wait” mode right now with regards to Windows 7, Microsoft hasn’t made any concrete announcements about the release of Windows 7. The Beta program just closed to new participants today and will run through Aug. 1, 2009. As far as how the process moves along, I found this post from a Microsoft engineer to be really helpful in understanding what went into development and what’s coming down the pipe: http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/01... Also, staying tuned to the Windows 7 page is a great way to keep up-to-date on the latest Windows 7 news: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... Hope these help out a bit. Cheers, Ron Windows Outreach Team

Windows 7 will probably be out next year. But if you buy a new computer after July 1, 2009 with Vista pre-installed, you are eligible to get a free (if not cheap) upgrade to Windows 7. This is still a rumor, according to some websites, but it s likely to happen. Note: If you get Vista Home Basic on that new computer, you are not eligible for that upgrade. You can upgrade starting from Windows Vista Home Premium.

Microsoft wants to get Windows 7 done before christmas, that way when new computers ship out for the holiday season they will be installed with Windows 7. So around Christmas or later if there are problems. http://www.windows7news.com

Probably not available this year, maybe next.

no, after christmas.

i heard christmas

How can I install the Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 if my copy of windows is not geniune? -

I downloaded the IE 7 beta 2 but it would not finish the installation because it said that I needed to have the geniune windows installed. Please help me get a patch or something

you cant. the only thing u can do is download firefox. which makes me think. m$ is pushing customers away by doing this. on one hand m$ wants people to use its browser but then it pulls a stunk like this. already alot of people are using firefox. now only more people will turn to it. besides, most people that have tried firefox stay with it.

forget about ie7. i have it on my computer. heres a foto of it. http://i4.tinypic.com/10x9hs4.... as you can see, its not very user friendly and alot of the buttons that were on ie6 are no longer there. Report Abuse

Either contact Microsoft and tell them Ur copy isn t downloading and they will send u another. Usually with no questions. Or find a code that will reg ester.

Does anyone know when windows 7 is coming out? -

Like an actual for sure release date.

Hi, my name s Cody, and I m working with the Windows Outreach Team to help answer questions users might have about the soon to be publicly released Windows 7 Beta. It was just announced tonight that a beta version of Windows 7 will be made available for public download on Friday, January 9! Anyone looking to find out how to get ahold of their copy of the new Windows 7 Beta the second it becomes available to the general public should go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... From that official Windows 7 page, you can then subscribe to the Windows Team s RSS feed amp; be the first to know when the Beta version becomes available for download. It s the quickest and best way to stay on top of any new announcements from the Windows 7 Team. Thanks, Cody Windows Outreach Team

When Windows 7 finally comes out will it install over Windows Vista? -

Right now I am on a laptop that has Vista OS and I am wondering, first, Can I install Windows 7 on a computer with Vista? And if so, will it just over write Windows Vista because I really just want to get rid of vista when 7 comes out!

Yup, buy the windows 7 upgrade and it will just install over it.

it doesn t matter witch operating system you have windows allow the user to upgrade to the windows you want but i think only with the CD there is always the option to upgrade when you run the CD from the CD drive

Does tally 7.2 run on windows vista???? if not can anybody tell me an alternative to make it run.....? -

I urgently need to run tally 7.2 on windows vista can anybody help me out

Tally 9.0 works on Vista you just have to Migrate Tally 7.2 data in to Tally 9.0

Tally does not suport Windows Vista, you can t make it run by using the software compatibility wizard in Windows Vista. You have to wait for sometime till Microsoft launches any patch to make this program to run on Vista. Or see if they give you any free update from Tally 7.2 to any new version that can work on Windows Vista. A friend of mine has tried using Tally 9.0 and said is working. So, better upgrade.

yes it runs on Vista http://www.tally9.info a very comprehensive website. You can check this as well to receive Tally tips and mantras http://visitor.constantcontact.com/email...

Even I have the same question to ask someone, but i could not find any body who can help in this. This is request to you if you can manage to find the solution then please let me know also. My ID is shiv_satyawati@yahoo.com

I have win XP with their default windows messenger 4.7 and cant download live messenger, GET ERROR 0x80070652 -

says finish running another program already running. Have internet explorer 7 and XP service pack 3.

hi, Reboot your PC.. once completely loaded. open task managers and in processes find msmsgs.exe. Right click and end the processes. Then try updating thing the messenger. it should work. Thanks Reagrds Sri http://www.support1000.com

Seems that one or more of the add-ins has/have corrupted some system files. First backup your own data files, and then try to remove and reinstall Windows XP SP1, SP2 and SP3 from Microsoft link here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/

Is Internet Explorer 7 compatible with Windows XP Media Center Edition? -

YES, but it might not be compatible with all the crud most people put on their computers. Toolbars, screensavres, smileys, cursers, and browser add ons. To Uninstall the crud first, use only one toolbar in addition to the standard one (yahoo toolbar and AOell are not good ideas). And go to Tools, manage add ons and disable the junk. I d also download firefox so that I had a quot;backup planquot;

Yes it is !

sure is.

IE7 is compatible with all of XP and Vista line too. But, firefox 2.0 is better.

How can I dual-boot Vista and Windows 7 w/o reinstalling my programs? -

I have installed Win7 and Vista on separate partitions, I don t want to reinstall these on Win7, but I need access to them on Win7, I know I could probably launch them by navigating to the folders where they are installed but I d rather have them in the start menu and so forth.

A separate partition is treated as a separate drive. If you want your programs on Windows 7, you need to install them. There is no shortcut.

The public windows 7 beta came out today! I cant find it! Will some one please post a link to it!..........? -

The public windows 7 beta came out today! I can t find it! Will some one please post a link to it! So I can download it! Thanks!!!

Many thanks to MakingComputers.Net the links are official. LUG.

ok, first off it s ran out, window s only allowed 2.5million download it. also (don t be offended) you probably shouldn t get it anyway, 1. no documentation comes with it so if you cant fix it your self then your stuffed. 2. you need to know how to reinstall your os after using it as all betas run out on the 1st of aug, even if it s not connected to the internet. hope this helped you understand

Reinstall VISTA currently having Fedora 7, Windows XP and Vista? -

My computer is currently having Windows vista, windows xp and fedora 7. It first boots grub and let me choose what to boot. By default I set it to vista. I have to format the hard drive currently containing vista and reinstall Windows Vista for some issue. I m worried whether installing vista may damage my other file systems in the machine. Is there any proper way to do such an installation? Thanks

unless you have your hard drive partitioned wit the different os on each partition formatting the disk will remove everything from the hard drive if it is partitioned just format the partition with vista on it

just format the partition with vista on it

If i have windows vista, would i have to pay to get windows 7? -

does it cost money to upgrade to windows 7?

yes it does like xp to vista

windows 7 is the next version of windows it won t be released to the public till at least 2010

oh of course you do have to pay, its like xp and vista, different ones

there is no available 7 for a couple of years, but server2008 is free to test some new features see blackviper.com for setup routines

I installed windows 7 beta and now i cant find 20 gigs of memory!? -

my windows vista had something wrong with it so i installed windows 7 beta and it put all my windows vista documents into a separate folder (this is after i backed up everything) and then i deleted the vista files. my hard drive is 140 gigs and after i deleted all my vista stuff there were 35 gigs still being used up. but when i go to the drive and highlight everything and it adds up to 10.5gigs. where did the 20 gigs go?!?! the hidden folders are visible and ive looked through them all but i cant find where those 20 gigs went. anyone have any ideas?

If you installed Windows 7 over Vista, you should have a folder named quot;Old Windowsquot; and all your Vista stuff will be in there

Have Microsoft intentionally allowed Windows 7 Beta 1 to become widely available from unofficial sources? -

I ask this as they do not seem phased by it at all, torrents can easily be blocked but they have done nothing to prevent downloading. Could this be a refreshing approach from Microsoft with regards to Beta software. LUG.

I think so Take a look at this: http://www.insidetech.com/news/articles/...

Refreshing? Maybe; but let s face it, Microsoft are not stupid and need to reverse the damage done by Vista (not as it stands as a product, but the way they handled the release and its teething problems) Then there s the product which is useless for less well-endowed computers and especially netbooks which they have had to use XP on. Windows 7 is supposed to work on the netbooks so that is why it is available:- because they want people who have only got XP as an option to stay with the (more) familiar windows product. The more people have to think about Linux as an alternative the worse for Microsoft because most people who try a real version either stay with it or at least dual-boot. The netbook versions of Linux have done no favours for Linux s popularity as they are no better than a good mobile phone (or cell phone) menu system. I know that is remedied now (by Ubuntu and Mandriva most notably) but there seems to be no takers with most of the netbook vendors; especially the most popular ones (acer and asus 90% market share) but I think Dell used Ubuntu

ABSOLUTELY. Evidence number 1: On thepiratebay.org s legal threats section, they have no new emails from microsoft about windows 7. If they really cared about it being there TPB would have already gotten the notice and made a funny response. Evidence number 2: microsoft hasn t done anything drastic like make any lawsuits or interfere with the gnutella network or even blocked torrent hashes in vista. Evidence number 3: how the hell do we get every single major build upgrade unless microsoft is intentionally being lax? Face it. All microsoft is doing is getting free beta testers and free advertising and making us feel lucky. Very smart indeed. Although seriously, what the hell is the difference between it a vista besides the new pulsing boot screen?

Definitely intentional, but done entirely in the best interest of their business. Someone once said that quot; The business of business is businessquot; and it is essentially true, it s natural to capitalism. What they have clearly realised is that by allowing this form of piracy they can garner a larger portion of the market; it is a way of fighting back against Mac and, perhaps, Linux.

Its the old adage about putting the cat back in the bag... Blocking and reducing the sharing of 7 is not going to be accomplished. Ask the music industry about their success. Plus the Betas DO have a shelf life and expiration date.

Windows 7 boot-up issue? -

I ve recently learned that when you create a new partition with Windows 7, it can t detect older versions of Windows OS s. Anyway to solve this issue?

2 questions for you... what was your old OS? and are you sure you installed and partitioned right? cause i dual booted mine and it detected both of them

How do i create a partition and run windows vista and windows 7 on dual boot? -

i have partitioned 20gb for the windows 7 to run. now how do i make the partition available for se7en to run and how do i install se7en to run, i want vista to be the primary boot. please help

Hi, my name s Cody, and I m working with the Windows Outreach Team to help answer questions about the Windows 7 Beta. Here s a great guide that should be helpful in walking you through the process of dual booting: http://lifehacker.com/5126781/how-to-dua... I hope this is helpful! Thanks, Cody Windows Outreach Team

First 20gb is a bit small although you will be able to fit the OS on there, I would recommend maybe 30GB just in case you are going to install photoshop / office / any benchmarking apps You want to make sure the partition is primary and not logical Once you ve got that covered, download the ISO, then extract it onto your desktop and run the install from there. Or you can follow the guy above s instructions if you burnt a DVD instead

Use this website. I have already done this so trust me. http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_vista... Its dead simple. It gives you 3 options on how to partition the space. You can go into windows and right click on Computer in start menu. Then click manage and then click disk configuration at the side. But follow the instructions. It says XP on this but it does exactly the same with Windows 7

restart ur computer and at the first screen press like f10 or somethin and the go to boot options. then enable floppy boot or somethin and then save and exit. it will automaticly restart. then let the first screen pass and when it says press any button to boot cd press somethin. then follow the instructions and it will do the rest. good luck. im typin this on windows seven.

Just install Windows 7 from the desktop. That s what I did because for some reason my computer would not boot from the DVD i burned. Just select the partition you want to install windows 7 on and it works. Just be sure you don t accidentally install it on the windows vista partition.

hi, you can use the program acronis image to do the partitioning. First have vista installed on drive c. if its already installed, then you can go ahead and install windows 7 on the other partition. Windows 7 is awesome. I love it. Good Luck!

Where to download windows 7,send me link plz,,,,? -

windows 7 dvd bootable

I don t think that you meant internet explorer, you should search on TPB for windows 7 6801 (x86 or x64 version, depending on your pc) For the new task bar, go to the 2nd site and download the file (click probierz program) and run it on the windows 7 copy you have just downloaded and installed Cheers, And if you like it, buy it :P (when it s released;))

Although I have no idea why you can t find it yourself? Here is the link

How do i uninstall Internet Explorer 8 beta 2 from Windows Vista and go back to Internet Explorer 7? -

not sure but i think IE7 doesn t work on vista. yep Internet Explorer 7 is for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or later (SP2/SP3)

As for Vista SP1, Vista RTM and Windows Server 2008, you will have to think of IE8 Beta not necessarily as a program, but as an update. This means that IE8 Beta will not appear in the Uninstall or Change a Program list, but in that of all the updates deployed. Therefore, via Control Panel, Programs, and View Installed Updates, you will see IE8 Beta , and here you can click Remove.

Here is a way how you can unistall it http://windowsaddict.blogspot.com/2008/0...

I don t think ie7 is available on vista anyway I wouldn t recommend ie7 because using it makes you vulnerable to browser hijacks

Does installing Windows 7 Beta delete all of my files I currently have on my Windows XP system? -

If I install Windows 7 Beta on my XP computer, will it format my hard drive? I ve installed operating systems before, but I ve never made an effort to retain any files that were on the hard drive prior to installation. Is there a way for me to keep all of my files that are currently on the hard drive so that I can access them after installing Windows 7? Like maybe a quot;Windows XPquot;-type folder that will hold all of my directories from XP? Or should I go ahead and put all of the files I want to keep onto my external hard drive?

You will have to install Windows 7 in another partition of ur hard-disk. Say u have XP installed in C drive. U can install windows 7 in D drive. But make sure u have nothin else in the drive u plan to install windows 7 in. When u start ur PC, u will b given an option as to whether u want to start Xp or windows 7. In this way u can retain XP also.

The safest thing to do is make a disk image of your system before doing things like installing an OS.

Does Windows 7 windows explorer have a built in media player? -

I was just wondering and think it would be assume idea, as you wouldn t need to open up media player to View or listen to media, and it would also obviate the need for these extra peaces of software. As some people don t even need to use media player to organize the songs ETC. they can just use explorer. And i also wonder this because you have download media player separate, because it wont be installed with Windows 7? what your ideas on this?

Yes. It does.

may be u can never tell. ive not checked the betas so i dont know exactly. but obviously they will include their latest windows media player -11 or maybe 12.

Whats up with windows 7 and this touch interface? -

Ok so the touch interface needs a touchscreen monitor right?, but than someone told me that you can flip pictures and maneuver with you re web cam as it can act as a motion sensor, is this true?

That is correct - there are sensors and cameras built into the side of the screen to measure what you are doing. The only side effect is that you get LOTS of dirty smudgy finger marks all over the screen. Regarding the quot;motion sensorquot; aspect - it only relates to what you are doing on the screen. Apple already has multi touch gesture technology built into the iPod touch, iPhone, MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro which enables you to do the same type of swipe, stroke, rotate, pinch (zoom out) and stretch (zoom in) gestures without getting a dirty screen. The technology that Apple has developed works with Mac OS Leopard and is explained and demo d here http://www.apple.com/macbook/features.ht... Apple s technology is further advanced that Microsoft s attempts.

Yes you can create a simple Touch pad using a web cam. To find out out how to do it go here http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/17... Rather then asking here and get a lot of dead beat answers, you should try and research thing by using Google. You be surprised what you can come up with.

The whole touch screen thing is right, but through a webcam no

How long does windows internet 7 take to down load?its been almost 4 hrs now? -

I have been down loading windows internet 7 for almost 4 hours and its still running, how long should it take for this to finish??

You need to download the windows explorer 7.0 from microsoft..It will download much faster

Oh for F*CK sake I wish the Firefox fanbois around here would clap it! I am a Firefox user myself (have been since version 0.5) but IE7 is not simply a browser update, but a major Windows update as a whole...even if you don t use it directly! Stop the download - the MS servers are probably maxing out at the moment (same thing happened with Vista Beta 2). Just give it a little while and try again - or use a download manager (try Free Download Manager) - this will automatically keep the download pipes open even if their servers max out and resume as things free up :)

You really do not want IE 7. It is very buggy. Go with firefox. It is way better.

a guys compter just crashed after he upgrade his internet explorer

No. That download is an update to IE6 so it shouldnt take that long. Computer with a 233MHz processor or higher (Pentium processor recommended) Operating SystemWindows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) MemoryFor Internet Explorer 7: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) - 87 MB Windows XP Professional x64 Edition - 168 MB Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) - 87 MB Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 ia64 - 218 MB DriveCD-ROM drive (if installation is done from a CD-ROM) DisplaySuper VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution monitor with 256 colors PeripheralsModem or Internet connection; Microsoft Mouse, Microsoft IntelliMouse, or compatible pointing device Those are the Specs for the OS and hardware. Microsoft looks at your PC before you can download it. But I would cancel that and do a fresh one, follow all the online instructions, and good luck.

IE is a bunch of crap... Get Mozilla Firefox as it is safer(hackers....) faster (yes faster) and comes with security features

I would stop and try downloading again. That s waaaaay too long.

If Microsoft goes to windows 7 , what happens to we that have Visa? -

just read that Microsoft is doin away with vista for a new window 7. I just bought a new computer loaded for vista.. what do i do now will i have to but more software?

why would you have to buy more software? why you would have to quit using vista? xp is still going, win98 is still going, win95 is still going, win2000 is still going.microsoft is not doing away with vista, they might not support it as much, but that will be a long time off. ┌─────┐ │§jerry§ │ └─────┘

The same thing that happened to people who had XP when it was released. You stick with your current OS or you upgrade. It s up to you. Windows 7 isn t going to be released for over a year, and Microsoft is known for not shipping on time. It ll probably be at least 2-3 years.

How can I prevent Windows from upgrading IE to version 7? -

I heard that there is a forced upgrade (the latest fad in software development) and I want to block the forced upgrade from IE6 to IE7. Idiotic, dismissive replies to this question will be flagged for abuse.

This is the simplest way: Right click on my computer. Click Properties. Click on automatic updates tab. Select the option quot;notify me but do not automatically installquot; or quot;turn off auto updatequot; Apply the changes. Hope this helps.

I think you heard wrong. There is no forced update. BTW, I m using IE 7 and it works just fine.

From what I read so far, they should cause an automatic redirect of your IE 6 starting on November 3rd. This will not force you to install it although the forced installation is probably coming soon after. Since it is sent as a Windows update, you can easily control it by changing the automatic update settings. You just go to Control Panel-gt;(classic view)-gt;System-gt;Automatic Updates and select to only download automatically. This way it will notify you when new updates are ready, you just have to do a custom install to select which updates you want and when you refuse one it offers you to remember to skip it next time.

Tri-boot Windows Vista, Ubuntu 8.10, and Windows 7. Is it possible? -

Hey there everyone. I ve got a really complicated situation here. I ve got a laptop with a relatively large hard drive (250GB) and I currently have Windows Vista and Linux Ubuntu 8.10 installed and have three partitions: One NTFS for Vista, one ext3 (I believe) for Linux, and a linux-swap for linux. I ve partitioned my NTFS that was originally 150GB to two sections, 120GB for Vista and 30GB for Windows 7. I am going to assume the installation procedures for Windows 7 are nearly identical to Vista s. So here is my question: Will Windows 7 re-write my MBR or Master Boot Record? A MBR is what you use to boot up your computer. I use the GRUB bootloader and I know quite well how to add another OS to the list AFTER it is installed and when I still have access to my Linux partition. Is there a way to manually choose which partition to boot from? Ok, I know this is really confusing because I would bet that well over 95% of anyone viewing this won t have Windows 7 on their computers and the other 95% might not even know much about the MBR and all. But PLEASE. ANSWER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! Another quick question, does anybody know of any software that would allow me to read my linux partition while in Windows? I could POSSIBLY edit my bootloader then from Windows 7. Thanks a million everyone!

yes vista will rewrite your MBR, no that is not a problem, just make sure you have a GRUB floppy disk, or at least the MBR from a boot floppy for linux. i once had four+ OS s on the same hard disk, and i was booting them from the NTLDR. you can do that with xp just by putting the MBR copied file from the floppy in your route c: and then modifying your boot.ini

I assume (because i don t have windows 7) that it well replace the MBR. I now you could restore it back to Vista as the MBR, but I don t know if you can restore it back to Ubuntu.

Windows only supports its own OS.For example, you can install Windows Vista and Windows 7 together or only Ubuntu... Good Luck!

Help With Windows 7 Beta????????????????????? -

I downloaded Windows 7 Beta yesterday from the microsoft website but its messed up my computer. So, can i revert back to vista?? Now, I haven t got a Vista installer CD because my Compaq Presario C700 came with Vista pre-installed. The only CD i ve got is Windows Vista Office Home amp; Student. I really want to go back to Vista, without waiting the 30 days. If I cant reinstall Vista, what will happen at the end of the 30 day trial???

The onoly way you can revert back to vista is with a vista disc, you should of activated windows 7 this will give you until the 2nd of august. If you had read their warnings then you wouldnt be in this mess. The way i have installed the beta is on a second hard drive that does not interact with my main drive at all, i am also regualry backing up everything to a network drive. I would recomend that you do the same next time. Hope that helps :)

What caused Windows Explorer 7 to receive an error and be forced to shut down? -

I recently was unable to log into Yahoo Answers! because some dll file was affecting the program. Everything worked fine until I installed the next Windows Update program which I think caused this problem. How can I prevent this from happening again?

I m not sure you quot;canquot; prevent and error from happening due to an update patch from MS Updates...With some computers (depending on your configuration) this may cause problems with a program...in others (Like mine) won t at all... Of course I ve disabled every single service that s not needed on my system, and disabled every single account with the exception of my own admin account...(This includes the default admin account!) This way I have total control over all my system s settings...

Having the dll info was extremely important as to looking for the solution to your problem with IE7...Here s some links for that on the MS Knowledge base... http://search.microsoft.com/re... Report Abuse

Why are you going unprotected? There are many free Antivirus and Antispyware programs that you can use. Only select one Antivirus program. Never use more than one. This free AV program uses the Kaspersky AV. It is one of the very best AV programs available. http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivir... AVG, AVAST, AntiVir are free and available at this safe download site. http://www.filehippo.com/ While you are there, get some Free Antispyware protection. These are very good and will give you great protection. For proper protection you want 3 AS programs providing full time protection. I use each of these. Windows Defender, SpywareBlaster, Spybot Search and Destroy (turn on the Tea Timer during download and setup for full time protection).

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus. i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage. besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE. download firefox for free, Just have a try: http://www.freeandbest.net/firefox/ Good Luck, Best Wishes!!!

Windows 7 beta and Mac? -

Is there anyway to run the windows 7 beta on my macbook?

No.

I am unsure but you may be able to use Parallels Desktop or VM Fusionware. If it is a download which I am guessing it is, you may have to burn it to a disk first. Other than that I am not completely sure. http://www.imacupdate.blogspot.com Hope this helps.

yes simply get rid of the operateing system on your mac then get windows 7

YES Mac/Apple allow you to duel boot This allows you to run windows or mac/apple I use windows so i don t know how to do it of the top of my head, but i fur sure know it can be done. You might be able to find the answer if you call 1-800-MY-APPLE But don t get your hopes up, instead maybe try searching blogs about duel booting a mac. You ll probaly get more help from google lol xD

Logitech quickcam driver and windows 7 beta problem...help? -

I am currently trying to install windows 7 beta..but after it checks for compatibility it says that logitech quickcam 9.02 might cause problems. I know this is and outdated driver, which is probably why it might cause problems. so i go to control panel and i try to unistall it but its not listed there. i go through my programs and it cant find it. so now i tried to install a new version of the driver and the same problem continues...help? thanks

Remember that it s a beta! Not everything is going to work for it. There s a reason why the majority of sites don t give a download for Windows 7 yet because it s still in the beta stage and they would have to update the program themselves for it to work in Windows 7 if it doesn t already. You may be able to run the driver in compatibility mode by right-clicking on the install file and selecting Properties and locating the Compatibility tab and selecting the appropriate box and choosing Windows Vista as the OS.

Windows 7 ISO file on xp? -

OK i have windows 7 on a disk as an iso file. If i were to install it on the computer when booting will there be anyway i can revert back to xp without the disk.

No. You will need an XP cd to reinstall XP once the beta expires in August unless you dual boot (partition your hard drive) or install W7 to a separate hard drive while keeping your XP install intact. I am dual booting XP and W7. XP is on my master drive and W7 is on my slave drive.

I would use some imaging software such as Norton Ghost to make an image of your current installation on an external USB drive so you can restore XP. If you don t set up to dual boot you will not be able to downgrade back to XP without your disk and license key unless you make an image of your HD as it is now.

Yes, burn the ISO file to a blank DVD. I use DeepBurner Free for that. Boot the PC with the Windows 7 disc in and it should load from the disc and take you through the installation. You can then partition your hard drive so you can have both operating systems. If you don t want to use W7 again then delete the partition in XP and use fixmbr to revert the bootloader back to normal.

Well ive just installed windows 7 - And I made sure I had my Vista CD and product key before installing. Because I thought I would need them to re-install Vista afterwards.

How do I move files from a linux Red Hat 7 system to a windows system(like text files)? -

What are the differences between windows XP and windows 7 ? -

the version,xp is just a operating system, all xp/vista use version 5.9 at the moment, its just another new windows operating system 5.9 version, and windows 7 is 7.00 version, its a big improvement for xp/vista users when it does come out with full version, its still in beta testing at the moment

Hello Boko, Rick from the Windows Outreach Team here to help answer your questions. Windows 7 is the latest Windows release from Microsoft. Although it shares some of Windows Vista’s features and functionality it adds quite a bit more. Windows 7 and Vista have been built from the ground up and are different from XP, they run more efficiently, are more secure, and are full of great user friendly features to help make your experience better. I invite you to take a look at the Windows 7 page and read what’s new in Windows 7 and see if might be right for you. Click this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... I hope this help answer your questions. Rick, Windows Outreach Team

I installed Windows 7 last night since I heard it is quot;so much fasterquot; and quot;much easier to usequot;. My verdict is that this is a load of hype. Windows 7 introduces a new taskbar. It s giant and has no text labels by default; You can change these settings to make it look similar to XP s taskbar, but for whatever reason, they also decided to modify the system tray (notification area) and move all custom applications (MSN, AIM, uTorrent) into a separate box. This means you have to click an arrow to view what s running your tray. The user interface for Windows 7 is also changed greatly. Like Vista, it has a subsystem called Aero that provides quot;eye candyquot;, with the downside of requiring higher system resources and lowering overall performance. They can also be distracting when trying to do work. Performance-wise, Windows 7 was pretty laggy. It s still an open beta though, so likely most lag issues will be sorted out before release. Installing it took forever (109 minutes total). Disk performance (maybe due to crappy beta drivers) also isn t up to par for a lot of small file transfers between hard drives. Gaming performance-wise, it s almost exactly the same as Windows Vista. Overall, Windows 7 is just Windows Vista, but more code optimised, with a shiner box, a different name, and a whole lot of hype surrounding it. I don t think MS is going to have excellent results with the people still sticking with XP. It is far too different; Vista is better than 7, in my opinion. The user interface changes in 7 make it far too quot;stupidquot; for normal use.

Has anyone installed windows 7 ? -

is it worth installing while i have windows vista ultimate? how good is it? what are w\the advantages and disadvantages? i have got a 3 gz pentium 4 intel full cash pc with 2 gb memory

I ve downloaded it and tried it. From your specs, it sounds like you can run it just fine, just so long as you have some sort of a DVD drive to install it. Here s the gist of what I ve experienced on it - - They changed the task bar around a little. Instead of showing icons/text for your running programs, they made it a little bit taller to show just icons of what you have running. I didn t like that feature too much, and you can change it back. - The task tray has been modified a little. I think the arrow that s facing to the left to show hidden items now goes upwards, instead of sliding to the left. - There is now a small rectangle to the left of the clock (on your system tray) that is your quot;Show Desktopquot; button. - Start menu modified a little - so that quot;Shutdownquot; is shown in fine print, with other options in a menu next to it. Probably because a lot of people didn t like hibernating their machine instead of turning it off. - On the Start menu, under your Commonly Used Programs list, they added right-facing arrows of those programs, which opens a window to the right that shows the last few files that you ve worked on. That feature I liked a lot. - They redesigned Paint and Wordpad to resemble Microsoft Office 2007. - They removed the Windows Sidebar, and instead, the Widgets or Gadgets are now free-floating on the desktop, I believe. - I believe they changed the Control Panel a little, though I m not sure as it kept crashing on me when I was trying it out in the Beta. - It s less resource hungry (in my opinion) than Vista was. - They might have removed the Aero interface? As I didn t see it when I was testing it. Maybe just because it was Beta? Not too certain. - Windows Logo when booting has changed. Video of it that I found on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7oDvY1-X... . Looks really cool. If there are any other things new about Windows 7, I don t remember. All that s above is all that I can remember off of the top of my head. That s all that I can say about it. I m not too certain about Dual-Booting your machine, as for me, it wouldn t allow me to boot the DVD on startup. I had to run Windows and start the install that way.

It s faster than Vista. I m running dual boot - Vista/Windows 7. Everything running smoothly - my Lexmark deskjet printer installed fine but my HP All-In-One refuses to install on Windows 7. Windows 7 downloads as an iso file which has to be burned to DVD (a CD is not big enough) which then becomes your installation disk.

It s a beta. It s unstable. It s not meant for use as a primary OS yet.

Installing Internet Explorer 7 fully crashes Windows? -

I installed Internet Explorer 7 on my computer and now Windows will not boot. It will take me to my desktop and I can use the Task Manager to get to my programs, but my desktop and start menue will not load. When it first tries to open Windows it tells me there is an error and asks me if I want to send and error report. How can I get Windows working again properly?

Uninstall IE7 and go back to 6. To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP Click quot;Start, quot; and then click quot;Control Panel.quot; Click quot;Add or Remove Programs.quot; Check quot;Show Updatesquot; at the top of the dialog box. Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click quot;Change/Remove.quot; Uninstall that, restart your PC and you are on IE6

No one answered my question as it needed to be answered. The real answer was that my entire system needed to be repaired, and it was from another question that I found out how to do that. Report Abuse

Log on in safe mode (during startup press F8) and choose Safe Mode. Once logged in, you should be able to Go to Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and find Internet Explorer 7 in the list. Remove it, and reinstall only version 6.

The problem is Windows. Get rid of Windows. There is a FREE operating system that won t crash all the time, it s called Linux. You can download CentOS Linux for free!!!

Try using the repair feature of Windows XP. It is going to replace the system files that have been corrupted with fresh ones. If you know how to do an Installation, then do it and choose the repair option when asked. it will restore your windows operating system withoutn you loosing any of your files or any of the programs that were installed on the machine. I once experience that problem and that was what i did. If you do not want alternatives like Mozilla then stick to IE 6. It is safer than IE 7. Hope it helps...

If you can get to where you can uninstall it, do it. When the IT people at my job loaded it on my work computer, it totally killed my computer. It kept rebooting over and over by itself and wouldn t stop. They had to totally wipe my computer and load everything on again.

you want something reliable use http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ it will not crash on you, and when and if it does, it will recover the page you were on!, all of them + you can get the most amazing add ons, from music to shopping. HTML checkers to world dictionary. amazing effects like a page turning as you go from tab to tab. have any questions about how, which or what to install just contact me. gt;gt;gt;gt;gt;gt;gt;gt;gt;gt;gt;NEW NEW NEW NEWlt;lt;lt;lt;lt;lt;lt;lt;lt;lt;lt; looks like you have got some parts missing, fwell use firefox, it works, what parts are not working with it? but if you are having problems just tell me what sucrurity and anti virus programs do you have

Will dragon naturally speaking 7 work with windows XP? -

I have a gateway laptop with a basi xp installed. Please be specific with your answers. Thanks guys.

Yes I use it on my computer that runs XP

the only potential conflict is with MS Word and its voice capabilities. Microsoft has a fix for this but involves a specific reinstall procedure. otherwise enjoy dragon.

Yes it will (I have both it and xp home)

Okay i Have Vista-Basic and XP-Home Dual booted. and in both the OS when i extract or Mount the ISO file that Windows 7 is in, all i get is a .txt that says This disc contains a quot;UDFquot; file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346 quot;UDFquot; file system specification. I am trying to Get Windows 7 onto a USB flash Drive.

When will Windows 7 be available for laptops? -

Either at the end of this year at the earliest or mid to late next year knowing Microsoft.

The very same day it s available for desktops. The beta is available for download now if you d like to try it. Use the Vista drivers for your particular hardware.

So whos tried windows 7 and can hlep me? -

ok yeah so i have windows 7 right? the downloads of it just opened up like yesterday and i somehow was able to get one. i put it on a disk as an iso like i was instructed (used imgburn) and tried to put the disk from the like booting up on the computer. that works and it says quot;do u want to boot from the diskquot; i say yes and i go in, it says it unpacking files, so im like ok, the it loads and all i see is the background, and my mouse, and windows 7 for testing only at the bottom. thats it, and there is no where else i can go on there, my friend burnt me his copy of it (his worked) and that has the same exact problem suggestions? thanks guys

So, you don t get to the desktop at all? Are you sure it was fully installed?

What is better windows XP, Vista or WIndows 7? -

I just wanna see what most people like.

7 is great I have it on 2 computers Vista is a real slick OS it looks great and is way more secure then XP XP is stable and reliable but its going to be phased out in the next year As for Vista having bugs, dont listen. I have been using it for 2 years and havent found one. It a great OS

XP because its way more stable, way more fast and way more reliable. Im using vista now and its really slow, typing this page will take forever! windows 7 i had a few weeks ago and all it is is vista redesigned. Same stuff on 7 and vista just looks different. Windows XP is the best operating system out there along with the mac os x. need xp?? http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4640938/... NOTE: need utorrent; it will take about a week or so; then use img burn and burn it to a DVD-R or CD-RW have fun! : )

Each is best...for the person using it. But Windows 7 is in beta testing and not for release with its new name for a few months. What bugs does Vista have? I haven t found one yet after 2 years.

XP is the standard right now. The pinnacle of OS s from Microsoft but hopefully windows 7 will right the wrongs done by Vista. So far the reviews are sounding good for 7

Windows XP because it way more stable than the other two at least until they fix the bugs in Vista

I would take 7 out of the equation until it is ready. Vista runs fine but XP is most stable.

windows 7

windows xp. i don t even think windows 7 is released yet

I would lean toward leaving xp for 7

What Do Vista Users Think About Windows 7? -

http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/formats/p... http://www.guardian.co.uk/global/askjack...

Its just MS putting make-up on the same old pig.

I ran Windows 7 BETA version on my PC and it runs quite better than Vista. All the drivers of Vista is compatible with 7. Windows 7 has extra added features and looks 90% like Vista. The taskbar has been changed and looks pretty much glassy now! I m not much satisfied with it. The desktop themes are pretty appreciable though.

Its a big improvement from Vista. Runs faster and behaves a lot better. Looks the same, except by the taskbar and a few words that have been changes around but other than that its just better. Hopefully it will stay this way when the full version comes out.

I haven t gotten to run it on a dedicated PC, (I m using a virtual PC), but it already seems a lot better than Vista, including how the install was clean and fast.

How is windows 7 better than vista? -

just saw that a beta came out, but im not sure about downloading it yet

Windows 7 is much better than Vista even in the Beta version. It is like Vista except for all the problems that Vista originally had. I have both Windows 7 and Vista on my PC for a week. I ve had virtually no problems with Windows 7 and prefer to use it over Vista. Other than that there are slight changes. Paint and notepad are now using the quot;ribbonquot; interface from office 2007 and the start bar has been changed a tiny bit and is now called the super bar. Instead of showing every single program running, the super bar groups related icons together. Plus, windows 7 is a bit faster than vista. I recommend trying it out...Just don t replace Vista or XP with it as it is only a beta

The beta is for experience users who are willing to test and report any bugs found. If that does not describe you then you have no business downloading Windows 7 beta. Better is an opinion, not a fact.

Its not better, it is in beta. Once it is released it will supposedly be better, but that is unlikely, since Microsoft is incapable of making good operating systems.

Windows 7 Beta your conclusions thus far? -

Here is my experience with Windows 7 Beta to date. It boots up around 20% faster than Vista and it runs blisteringly fast for me with these specs. 2.4ghz P4 CPU 1gb PC2100 RAM 256mb GeForce 6200 Much better performance than Vista on the same machine. Install Google Chrome http://www.google.com/chrome as Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 (RC is not available for Windows 7 Beta) still has a fair few bugs. Windows Media Player 12 is awesome, finally no need for a third party application. It has the speed and stability of XP, and the looks and security of Vista. In short its everything Vista should have been and can t wait for the final release. And I am primarily a Linux user. Its the first time I have been impressed by a Microsoft product since Windows 98se. What have your experiences been like ? LUg.

Yeah, definitely better performance on the same hardware, especially if you have a multi-core processor. I also heard it s going to be optimized for solid state drives, making it a good choice for netbooks. It s looking like for the first time, the latest version of Windows will actually be the best. @ Computer Tech Mike: Just because he uses Linux doesn t mean he has to hate Windows. And Chrome is NOT spyware: http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/google-chr...

I have also been very impressed with Windows 7, remember this is still a Beta version and some companies have yet too develop software too go with it, and so there will be things like Google Chrome that will design a copy for Windows 7. What I like about it is that if there are no drivers built in you can use the XP drivers

I wish I could be a Ubuntu Geek and be in bed with Microsoft as well and promote spyware like google chrome.

you are easily impressed. seems you have not found the bugs in 7 now you should know that W7 is Vista with new tweaks and candy.to the eye Now if by any chance ms catch up to linux and especially sabayon 4 well I might just install it on a virtual machine, other wise it is not worth the price, Like Vista MS are bringing out several version from what I have been reading this week, Nope W7 won t be for me, as a primary operating system not the way sabayon have developed release 4 wow that knocks the block right from under the other Linux distributions releases with several desktops to pick from at login. yes the have got it right, in cluding the 3D games choice, plus google earth is installed, another thing one will have to buy all the application software over again if they want the 64bit working

Hey Lug! Running W7 on a Dell OptiPlex SX280. Basically a small form factor Pent4 w/ no upgrade slots for Pci or Agp. 2.8Ghz with 2Gb of ddr2. Runs like a dream. The whole video acceleration bites even on simple games. No biggie- This machine was a good platform to test on. This PC is part desktop, with some laptop pieces. 7 Isn t as glam looking as Vista Ultimate, but it has a nice simple interface that is def gonna appeal to peeps. Maybe we don t need to keep climbing the bling ladder, huh? Gnome! LOL! I just picked up a Dell Mini 9 notebook and I am SO tempted to load 7 on it. Its that whole end of life thing that holds me off. I even exposed my test machne to the dreaded XP anti-virus, virus. Easy to find it in the Auto forums on Yahoo. Whew!

Windows 7 next year!!!!???? -

Bill Gates says Windows 7 may come out next year. Here r the links: http://www.techspot.com/news/29618-gates... http://www.news.com/8301-13860_3-9911470... What do u think? Could Microsoft manage to create a good operating system in such a short time?

Contrary to popular belief, those guys @ Ms are not just sitting around eating doughnuts and exploring their stock options. There is always something in the oven. I think Vista itself will have a longer life than people imagine. Seven out next year? I dunno.. Bill is such a good pitch guy, he could sell winter coats at the beach. My understanding is that 7 will break away from the backward compatiable modeling of their DLLibrary sytem into new terriority. That would be different. Course, we just see their options as it fits our needs, they have the whole world to wrestle with. The EU, appears to have a bug up their .... to get at MS.. and ever present is the current agrrement over their anti-trust agreement w/ the feds. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con... I for one would welcome a lean mean MicroSoft machine. The more options I have, the better off I feel about life and computing!

The next year (2009) is a mabe...I would look 4 it in 2010 along with IE8.

Bill Gates and Microsoft made vista this year and A LOT of people said it was no good whatsoever. Microsoft are making another one as to compensate for the other. I hope it ll be good - I think it will

That s my reason to skip vista, and go from xp to 7. Maybe 7 will contain a lot of vista code, just like xp was based on win2k ?

MiserableEdition = 2000 - XP = 2002 Vista = 2007 - 7 = 2009 looks plausible

Woah Personally, I thought Vista was getting on the right track. It ll probably come out later than 2009, though. A lot of Vista users will be mad that their OS is going to be outdated so soon

I very much doubt this will happen as Vista has only just come good. If anything now that Vista has improved they will hold Windows 7 off til around 2012. If I was them that is how I would do it, so I could earn some real revenue from Vista now that it is decent. LUg. Edit : Many people consider Vista to be the BETA release of Windows 7 anyway. LUg. Edit 2 : Re : Microsoft gives up on Vista. I still don t believe it, besides don t believe a word of what you read in the press, as has been proven on countless occasions. Anyhow I don t know why we should worry, you use OpenSUSE and I use Ubuntu, both of which are superior. One thing of note if this does happen suddenly we willl have the isn t vista wonderful brigade they will all be former members of the vista sucks brigade How fickle people are. LUg. Edit 3 : Now that SP1 has been released I like Vista, where I used to despise it. Vista has now overtaken XP and its demise has surely been accelerated with a final release of SP3 looking increasingly unlikely, even though it is in the RC stage. Vista is now a good operating system, it just had a screwed up beginning which no one can deny. OK so it will never have the pull of Linux and all the niceties of Compiz Fusion, but for the average Joe Bloggs Vista will be just fine. LUg.

Yeah i also heard that they will make a new operating system called windows 7! if you believe on the links, then believe it, i believe whatever wikipedia says, i Trust wikipedia... here is the link about windows 7 from wikipedia.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7

I guess that it will be the testing stage. Microsoft still needs to make more money out of Vista.

Are you excited about the upcoming Windows 7 ( After Vista )? -

According to many videos and reviews, I actually think it is nothing but a quot;wanna bequot; mac . As it now has the multi-touch screen ability, Here s a video Microsoft won t like to see: http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=d0aS5t222_... _____________________________info_____... Windows 7 (formerly codenamed Blackcomb and Vienna) is the next release of Microsoft Windows, an operating system produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, Tablet PCs, and media center PCs.[1] Microsoft stated in 2007 that it is planning Windows 7 development for a three-year time frame starting after the release of its predecessor, Windows Vista, but that the final release date will be determined by product quality.[2] Unlike its predecessor, Windows 7 is intended to be an incremental upgrade with the goal of being fully compatible with existing device drivers, applications and hardware.[3] Presentations given by the company in 2008 have focused on multi-touch support, a redesigned Windows Shell with a new taskbar, a home networking system called HomeGroup,[4] and performance improvements. Some applications that have been included with prior releases of Microsoft Windows, most notably Windows Mail, Windows Movie Maker and Windows Photo Gallery, are no longer included with the operating system; they are instead offered separately as part of the Windows Live Essentials suite.[5] ______________________________________... Thanks and have a nice day! -- -- -- -- If you need the Pre beta release by Microsoft which was distributed by Microsoft , ask me, i would be glad to share. Have a nice day cares ~fiazio

Not really it will just be more vapourware from Microsoft that will be late and fail to meet expectations..again.

no i m not excited. notice the words quot;incremental upgradequot; this is the same thing they did with Windows ME (their worst version since Windows 3.0) it s a quot;stop gapquot; solution between Vista being fixed and a real OS version. the extra bells amp; whistles will be the only quot;newquot; features and there will likely be even more bugs than the initial release of Vista.

i really hope they get there act together on this one - i remember when XP was first released it was pretty buggy - vista was initially even worse - lets hope they learn from previous systems and only release it when its fully stable.

Yes, Windows 7 is going to blow Mac OS out of the water - it will be everything Mac OS wishes it could be.

No. I was happy with Windows 3.11 it was faster and worked just fine for me.

yea, heard this news from my bf...........I hate vista it takes too much space for my dumb puter. P.S but my fave window is the window me.....

I think its pretty cool. Waiting and excited about it

To me personally it is just another OS release. I don t really want to say that I couldn t care less, but to be honest with you I d be telling lies if I said I was excited about the release. I find that for general use, I still use Win XP a lot more than Vista. I will confess that the only reason i got Vista in the first place is to enjoy Flight Sim X. If Windows 7 release turns out to be as bugged as Vista, then I think it will pretty much signal the end of MS domination as we know it. And multi-touch screen ability is great, but what good does it do to an average user, especially when the hardware costs would undoubtedly be high to start off with.

BSOD from windows 7 on a macbook? -

what can i do to prepare for or prevent a blue screen of death on a macbook 3,1 with a partition of windows 7 beta, is it reversible, can it damage my mac partition.

I would suggest you install parallels and run a virtual machine. It will all happen in a virtual space (I love pushing windows to the limit when it can t really do much damage) so the worst thing that can happen is having to reinstall windows again. I had had to do it twice but no big deal. Good luck!

You can, but it would be a pain in the butt to install Windows 7. It takes time to download, plus you need to make an ISO image and burn it. It s kind of like a recovery of Windows Vista. You will be able to make disks of Windows 7, install Windows 7 and still keep your Mac Partition

Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

Does anybody have any info on Windows 7, the os thats to replace vista in 2010? -

I heard that it will not be a big release and that microsoft will do a big release every other os, so does that mean that it will just be a slighly better vista? or what will be new with it?

yes i heard that will be a small package to install very easy but the if you need something you pay to get it something like this check this out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vie... SHould have all the information you will need

The next version of windows to be released is called Fiji. It is supposedly based on Vista, but will have a different code base that introduces a lot of fixes. It was scheduled to be released in 2010, but there are rumours that due to the BooBoos in Vista they are moving up the release to early 2009. After that they are going to release Windows Vienna. This is supposedly going to be a whole new concept for Windows. It was scheduled for 2011, now it is being slated for 2010.

It is basically the same as Vista except a few code things....the layout is near enough the same as vista

The big complaint with Vista was the bloat. 7 will be slimmed down, hopefully a lot. I want DX10 to be easy to run. They are also going to try to make it idiot friendly.

How do I get IE 7 back on Windows Vista Ultimate? -

I installed Internet Explorer 8 BETA on my PC and I don t like it, so I went to microsofts website and they only have it for Windows XP

Go here: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2817/how_...

I believe that if you uninstall IE8 the OS will revert to the older version.

Will a dell d600 run windows 7 an not get ruinede and i have a mac? -

if so how do i do it do i need a copy of xp. ooooooooohhhhh!!!!! can you bootcamp linux??????

I m running Windows 7 on my dell d600 right now but the wireless drives do not work, i will probably reinstall XP tonight

for the dell, you would need a ram upgrade for it to reach the min but it will run slow because of the processor. You can get a copy of xp from an online retailer like tigerdrirect and newegg. bootcamp program is not need for linux as many linux verison can run on mac computers without the use of bootcamp. Although I have never done this but you would need to set the partitions and I would keep a backup of the OS just incase.

You don t need a copy of XP. Bootcamp is for loading XP onto a mac, not Linux. You COULD run it on a Dell d600, but I wouldn t recommend it. It ll run VERY slow. Bootcamp and VMware would also eat up a lot of RAM. My advice? Get a new computer. Even a cheapy right now would do the trick for what you re looking to do.

Failure to update Microsoft security update for internet explorer 7 for windows XP (KB929969)? -

When I run Microsoft High-Priority updates and try to update the “Security update for internet explorer 7 for windows XP (KB929969)” I continue to receive an error message without update successful. Please advise what might be wrong with my computer set up that prevent of updating this Microsoft update. Thanks

Did you download and install Internet Explorer 7? If not, that s what the security update is saying. Ignore it. And don t let the automatic updates download amp; install IE7. You will end up having to uninstall it. Mine does that, and I just keep refusing to let it install. I ll decide when I want IE7, and it s not now. Change your options on automatic updates to quot;Download updates but let me choose when to install them.quot; That way, you can choose which updates you want installed.

I had the same problem. Turn off Your security system (like Norton Anti-virus or/and Norton Internet Security for example) when you download it.

What is going to happen to Windows Vista now that theres Windows 7? -

I have had Vista for about 2 years, and I have had no problems with it really, although many people says it s really bad. But will I be able to continue using this, or will I have to get Windows 7? Sorry I really no nothing about computers, so I just want to make sure that everything will still be okay.

windows 7 is in the beta stage... this means it ll be a while before it s actually released... probably another year or 2.... even then, windows will still support, and update users with vista for a long time so your ok... windows xp users still get updates and support like normal until 2014.. so vista will definitely reach into the 2020 s at least :)

. so vista will definitely reach into the 2020 s at least :) ??? ermm.. I don t think so.. Windows 7 is vistas replacement,Vista was a mistake, so rather than trying to patch vista all the time they just rebuilt it into windows 7. It s not going to be a year or 2 until it s released, It s out July. Report Abuse

windows xp won t get support until 2014 NO WAY. or vista till the 2020 ALSO NO WAY is that gunna happen sorry windows 7 should be released around the end of this year or begginning of next year by then xp probably would have been completely discontinued and no support availble, vista still will Report Abuse

You will still be able to use Windows Vista, the same way that people out there today can still use Windows XP even though Vista has been out for awhile now. But who knows, it may turn out that Windows 7 is really cool and you may want to download it. I m debating whether or not it is worth the time to download the beta which is still available. In short, you won t need to worry about Vista being usable when Windows 7 comes out.

Your honestly fine. Don t worry about getting another operating system. A lot of people still use XP and prefer it to vista. There is really a great deal of freedom with PC s. It is all still compatible, so don t worry about it. Windows 7 is just a Beta version for people to test out. It s your choice if you wana switch. It just depends on what you need from a computer, your own preferences and the technical specifications that differ from each OS. Infact I m trying to downgrade from Vista to XP at the moment.

Windows 7 is basically Vista R2, and Microsoft says anything that runs on Vista will run on 7. So most likely anything the runs on 7 will run on Vista too. For now Windows 7 isn t out in final form so your don t have to worry. Also Vista support will last a few years after Windows 7 comes out too.

honestly, it doesnt really matter. but windows 7 is faster and honestly its beta is better than vista. to actual computer users, it feels more complete than vista. but theres rumors that windows vista users will get either a discount or a free copy of windows 7.

Technically it isn t out yet. But when it does come out it will slowly take over laptops like Vista over XP.

Windows 7 isn t released yet, only the beta. Vista is still Microsoft s latest stable release of Windows so it will still be supported for a while.

You can still use it. Windows XP is still around isnt it? Lol lame XP users

you can still use it, just because your friend gets a new car doesnt mean yours wont work.

nothing will happen, windows vista will still exist

You re still good. No worries.

Mozilla Firefox Crashes under Windows 7? -

My Mozilla Firefox 3 crashes randomly(?) after a random(?) amount of time in Windows 7 Beta ver. 6956. (Previously known as Windows Vienna) Anyone know a fix for it?? Thanks in advance...

I would suggest that one or both are corrupt and need to be replaced. Try Firefox first as thats a smaller download. Right click on the HELP drop down menu in Firefox, and upgrade Firefox. You could always try : IE 7 Download. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...

At the top of my head, Windows 7 is still in beta and Mozilla Firefox 3 was only recently released. Both software are still unstable and crashing is probably what you would expect. Why the hell are you using Windows 7 anyway? Are you a developer or do you just want to be cool?

Installing windows 7 on a seperate hard drive? -

Ok so i am highly anticipating the official release of the new windows 7 beta tommorow. I have 1 hard drive in my computer right now with vista 32-bit on it, but i just purchased a new seagate barracuda on which i plan to install the beta. My question is how do i go about doing this? Step by step instructions please. Remember the second hard drive will be brand new with nothing ever on it. So basically i want to keep my vista on the first drive and install the beta on my brand new second drive. Help??

Install your hard drive amp; make sure it is recognized in your PC BIOS. When installing W7 it will ask you which hard drive you want it on....if not go to your BIOS amp; make the new hard drive the first boot device. regards, Philip T
