I just installed the new Windows 7 64-bit beta (build 7000) on a separate partition of the same drive as my Windows XP. It installed quick and easy and I m liking it so far, but when I try to dual-boot back into XP I get the following error: quot;Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: lt;Windows rootgt;\system32\hal.dll. Please re-install a copy of the above file.quot; So I went back into Win 7 and re-copied that file into my Win XP System32 folder from my Win XP disc and rebooted and get the same error. What can I do (without having to reinstall XP)???
It may be your boot.ini file. Check this link, or google it yourself.
always a risk on beta os s. You can extract the hal.dll of your xp disk if it is not a recovery disk. You need to have the os disk of xp. Boot into http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libra...
