Actually, you won t be able to downgrade, but what you can do is dual-boot Vista and Windows 7 which is what I do, but I also have XP on my computer which makes it a triple-boot. You won t need to downgrade anyways if you do a dual-boot and if you quot;get your handsquot; on a Windows 7 key, which you can use to August 2009. The important files will stay on the partition that you have Vista on, so you won t need to worry about that. A great thing which you can use in Windows 7 is use libraries. Libraries allow you to choose folders anywhere on your computer which contain: music, documents, videos, etc. and you won t need to transfer those things from the Vista partition to the Windows 7 partition. One program that i would recommend you downloading/installing is EasyBCD. This neat program allows you to manage the boot loader settings. You will need to configure the boot loader so if you want to choose between any OS installed on your computer. If you install Windows 7, it will automatically set-up the settings accordingly which you can choose Vista or Windows 7 on boot up. To answer your new question, yes you will have to quot;splitquot; your hard drive between Vista and Windows 7. I believe you will need about 10GB for everything that Windows 7 installs. I would put more if you want to put anything on Windows 7, such as: your important files or any programs. You can delete the partition if you would like to, you can do this by formatting the partition and deleting the Windows 7 entry, which you use EasyBCD to remove any OS entries. You will need to allocate the unallocated space back to your Vista partition also. Another thing i would like to add is be sure to download/install the mp3 bug fix for Windows 7: http://www.redmondpie.com/fix-for-window...
