Yes, perfectly safe as it does not cause any data corruption. Just as a precaution, it is a good practice to not run any other programs while shrinking the partition. Also, even though you are installing Win7 separately from Vista, backup all your info. Enjoy Win7, because I certainly am. (@ Not as S: you obviously never reinstalled or dual booted Windows before. Installing Windows is not like installing a game on your computer.)
Yes, click start, then RIGHT click computer, then click manage, then click disk management, then RIGHT click the C:// drive, then click shrink volume. Next, enter the number in Mega bites you want the volume to be shrinked, I recommend 15GB which is 15,360MB. Next Restart your computer and Boot from the DVD-rom (windows 7). Install and it will automaticly ask you where you want to boot from. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zxwlu-_Mg...
Good Evening Tom F- If the previous posts did not solve your problem yet, I suggest you post this question to Microsoft s TechNet site under the relevant forum. There are plenty of MS MVPs in these forums answering technical questions like yours. Here is the link to the site. Good luck! http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Foru... Jeff Windows Outreach Team
You don t need to make a new partition, all you need to do is not name the folder quot;Windowsquot;, call it something else
I personally wouldn t mess with windows 7 beta because its too unstable.
