Question about Windows 7? -

Hello, I have an HP laptop and I need to know, am I supposed to get the disk for Windows 7 from HP? because there are some programs from HP that I don t want to lose when Windows 7 comes out.

I was in a similar situation when Vista came out. I got my laptop, loaded with Windows XP, but with a free OS replacement (not upgrade) to Vista (as part of a promotion). It was just a stripped down version of Vista, without the little extra software packages HP usually adds in to their OS installation disks. While HP makes little software tidbits compatible with your laptop hardware, it didn t come with my version of vista (provided by HP) -- Instead I just went to HP s website and downloaded all the drivers necessary to run my computer made for Vista. It may be different with Windows 7 though since many of the hardware drivers won t be radically changed like they were from XP to Vista. If you re really concerned, beef up on your Hindi and then work with the HP customer support :) (actually, although they re really hard to understand, they were VERY helpful with any problems I had, and anything that needed to be shipped, they did with overnight delivery free of charge)

Windows 7 is in beta right now - that means that you install it on a computer you can afford to lose. (If you re not an experienced beta tester, please don t beta test an operating system. It does no one any good, and causes you to cry on Yahoo answers when you find that you ve lost everything and have to go to the library to get on line.)
