Is Microsoft going to give vista users free upgrades to windows 7? -

i think they should because vista sucks so bad. the sp1 update actually worsened my wireless network set up. it never froze when accessing my external hd wirelessly before i updated, and now it does. i have to keep it wired to my router. i hate vista. does anyone else feel this way/ do you think they will give free updates to windows 7?

Personally I love Vista. I ve never had any problems with it and it does mostly what I want it too. The things it doesn t do it never did with XP or 2000 anyway so it s negligible. When it comes to wireless there can be a number of factors, you may want to try reinstalling your wireless cards drivers. If your using the device driver software try letting windows handle the connection, or vice versa. It won t hurt. As to your question about a free upgrade, No there won t be a free upgrade, but I ve been hearing about a plan for a reduced price upgrade for Vista users. I ve been using the Windows 7 Beta and so far it s been running really fast and clean. It s still a resource hog, but after a period of zero usage the SuperFetch feature starts to clear the RAM. I leave my computer on all day and the OS should get slower the longer I leave it on, but it doesn t Windows 7 should be a good upgrade for you. Vista wasn t a failure by far, most of the problems they encountered with Vista were from Intel machines. Whether that was because of a faulty driver or an Intel design flaw is unknown. AMD users didn t have a problem as far as could be seen. Now however with the problem fixed and Vista updated it works just fine. I ve never had a BSOD with my machine and it still runs just as fast as it did when I first installed Vista. The reason vista is viewed as a piece of crap is because of the failure reports that flooded the internet and because of the fact that Vista is a resource hog. But with only 1GB of RAM I m still able to run all the programs I usually did in Windows XP and play the newer PC games as well. I even was able to play Fallout 3 no problem, a game which has suffered similar failures as Vista did when it first came out.

I am running Windows 7 Beta right now. I have never used Vista before nor have I ever seen it. I understand from using the beta Win7 that it is very much like Vista but has been supposedly streamlined to be more efficient so as to load faster and not be a resource hog. Now I have been using Win-XP Media center edition on my Dell XPS M170 Laptop for the past 3 yrs. Well that is the laptop I have installed Windows 7 Beta on, and it runs as good (fast) as XP if not better (faster). So far I have been using it for 1 wk and there is some software that came with my laptop (proprietary) that I had some trouble with at first, but I am now running all software on Windows 7 as I was on XP. To answer your question about wheather MS will offer a free upgrade to Windows 7 for Vista users, as Al would say, quot;I don t think so Timquot;. When have you ever known MS to let u upgrade for free? How would they make any money? Oh, your connection problem could be a firewall problem, or check to see if you can roll back the drivers for the wireless card, that may solve your problem. PS: The Beta will if you download it and install will allow you to upgrade, BUT, you will not be able to go back to Vista, and after August 2009 the beta will no longer work. You will have to reinstall your Vista copy.(of course this will probably solve your network problem). lol

I doubt it. They ll be milking people of their money for a long time. Why not take advantage and download the free beta!
