windows is microsoft newest OS. It is currently in beta phase right now. Btw vista home basic should have a sidebar. It might have been set to close by someone. Go windows start menu (large button on bottom left-hand corrner) all program gt; accessoriesgt;open windows sidebar to load it.

It s the next Windows thing... like, you have Windows XP, Windows Vista... :D
