Should I wait for Windows 7? -

I ve been hearing and reading the buzz about Windows 7, which I understand is better than Vista. Should I wait until the final version of Windows 7 is released or install Vista now?

Vista is much more power hungry then Windows 7, even if you have a Dual Core Pentium, and 2 GB of RAM they say Windows 7 will still run really well. I agree with the other answerer, you should wait for it. Have a nice day Ken

You could be waiting a year or 18 months but you could try out the BETA now as I am doing. Download it from http://microsoft.com and it downloads as an iso file which you then burn to DVD and this becomes your boot disk (the file is too big for a CD). For anybody who hates the UAC feature in Vista - it is still there in the Windows 7 BETA.

Wait for 7 or get Linux.

Will be released in quite some time. Even when released, it will most likely be fairly unstable like how Vista started off.

The beta is crashing on me regularly,but it has fixed itself every time.I guess that s a plus. LoL They are collecting feedback and it will become a stable system after more is learned. I never used vista i have xp and 64 bit Windows 7 on dual boot. Windows 7 has a boot loader so you can make a partition and install it.It asks which on you want to boot to. Vistas days are numbered now just like XP. Too many people went through driver and software hell with vista I think windows 7 will be more successful.

Window 7 is Due to be Released June 3rd 2009, so I d stay with what you ve got now, and then upgrade to windows 7 when it comes out. I have also found out that Windows 7 will run comfortably in 1GB ram and an entry level Processor. The Guy who said to download the Beta, I wouldn t do it straight away, but I m going to try it on my laptop now, and give you feedback if it works. Laptop specs: Intel celeron M 540 @ 1.86GHz 2.5 GB ram 80GB HDD space Intel 965 express chipset with 256mb shared memory Now Due to be released mid 2009 (august) I have not been able to test it because my laptop has just pissed itself and died, (not because of the beta, my little brother dropped it) But go ahead and try it if you wish, though i cannot be held responsible for any damage to your computer if it breaks when you try the beta, so make a backup of your hard drive first.

I reckon you should wait. it s only till the end of the year and the lifecycle of support is fresh, which means support for win 7 will last longer than vista. well, that s what i think anyway

If you are a current XP user and are waiting to upgrade, just wait. If you re building a new system and want vista you might as well get it.
