Windows experience index: windows 7? -

Hey does anyone know why on windows vista my processor rating was 5.9 but when i installed windows 7 on a partition on the same computer. But the rating is only 4.4? Also according to the task manager its only using one processor is this a problem for anyone else? also the performance has significantly decreased when compared to windows vista? Is it a driver issue or something along those lines? BTW... its an Intel Quad core Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz

You need a driver for Windows 7 which will enable the multiple cores of your processor. Intel.com is the place to look. The Windows Experience Score is only an indication of the performance you ll get from your hardware.

From what I have heard, Windows Experience is a load of BS - merely a gimmick to help sell Vista rather than any accurate assessment of your computer s performance

Windows 7 s standards are higher. My Experience Index went from 5.3 to 4.4. But thats odd, I have the same CPU and my rating for CPU is 6.2. Are you sure you re not confusing experience index and CPU rating?

Because Windows 7 is designed to test more up to date computers than Vista. If XP had the same feature you d get more than 5.9
