Whats the deal with Windows 7? -

Everyone is saying something different about the release date. 2009 is what i have heard but this article disagrees http://www.winvistaclub.com/i7.html I m not sure about the credibility of the dates though because it seems like a Microsoft thing to do by saying the new one won t come out for a while so more people buy Vista and then release Windows 7... Does anyone have any accurate information about it? As i would like to get 7 when it comes out but i don t want to wait a few years if it doesn t come out in 09.

There s no official announcement of any release date. The beta and RC builds will be released in March/April according to sources. As the year progresses, we will learn more about further release dates. I myself was actually expecting it to be sometime Fall - Christmas. Christmas would be the best thing for Microsoft to do because then everyone would be all hyped up to ask Santa for Windows 7. I highly doubt it will take that long for it to be final. It s already near stable now, and the only thing they plan to do is add more features to it. As a guy mentioned below about testing, install on another partition. The beta will deactivate in August 31, 2009 if you don t update to a newer build. If you do update to a newer build, it will extend the date further. The beta size is 2.44 GB which means you will need to either mount the ISO or burn it to a DVD. You can use Virtual CloneDrive to mount the ISO rather than having to burn it to a DVD or you can use ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a DVD.

Well, that post was put up a year ago. So who knows. Released dates change all the time. They can move it up or they can push it back. Windows 7 beta is out. You can download it and see. Since they have the beta test out, it shouldn t take them much longer. They need to fix any reported bugs. Update or finalize anything they feel necessary. Then that d be about it. I would say that at some point before the end of this year they ll release it. Look around on the Window s site to see if they have a possible known release date.

It s basically a tweaked version of Vista quot;pretty much the same kernelquot;, that runs a lot more efficiently. Don t use the beta unless you re just testing it, because there is no official support, and they beta OS will deactivate itself in August, and you will be SOL with all your installed programs. Wait till it comes out officially.

Microsoft plans to release it between 7/1/09 and 6/30/10. A lot of people think that they are planing, or aiming at least, to release it by the holiday season this year.

Well the beta for Windos 7 doesn t end till end of august. So i think it ll be 2010 sometime/
