When it is finished and publically released there will probably be an upgrade version which will do that for you
You should be able to install Windows 7 Beta 1 as dual boot. In Vista its easy to make a new partition using Vista s Computer Management tool . Control Panel -gt; System and Maintainence -gt; Administrative Tools -gt; Computer Management. Then install your copy of Windows 7 from the cd into your new hard drive partition (Windows 7 must be installed on the custom option when you select your new partition).
Well Windows 7 Beta that you are trying to get will expire on the first of August 2009. Which means it won t work after that date. So I just suggest that you use the beta, see if you like it, and then buy it when it comes out. And of course they have 64 bit versions of 7. Its called Windows 7 X64
