I would of thought so, Windows 7 my look similar to Vista, But its does work very well on all levels of spec computers. On Vista spec computers W7 will run a lot faster (faster than XP or Vista). Beta1 of W7 is not quite finished, but its remarkably complete. See link on how to dual boot W7. (note, this is for Vista / W7 dual boot, but will be similar to XP/W7) http://owened.co.nz/Owenedv2/?p=481 Also note, Microsoft have also released security updates for W7 to fix a security flaw found in the Beta.
Windows 7 Beta will probably require a fresh install - IE over-writes XP so you will need to backup your important data. If you go to belarc.com they have a free tool that will produce a report on your system however you ll need more memory and a 64 bit architecture to get most of the benefits. As the the benefits? It looks cool and it has some security and performance improvements but as much of the info around 7 is still ultra-hype the proof will be in the testing. As it is a Beta don t run anything mission critical as Beta code tends to have a lot of bugs.
i dont think you can do this. and i dont think that your pc is supported. since windows 7 is built on windows vista. the minimum requirements of 7 should be the same or higher that of vista. but if you want to try. why not use acronis true image and make a backup of the whole c drive. then keep this in an external harddrive. then reformat your pc using windows 7 and install it. when you like to revert back, just reformat using windows xp disc. then reinstall windows xp and acronis software. then restore the backup. you will have your pc as it was when you made your backup.
You can if you have an open partition on your HD, but don t do a system wipe just to get it. It is still in beta and has many bugs. Stick with XP but experiment with Windows 7 on a different partition. Oh, and it is almost exactly like vista. Even all of the requirements and looks.
i HEARD, windows 7 is ONLY 64BIT!!!, so most likely out of the question already, no chance of even running it smoothly with a 1GHZ 512MB system anyway, soz mate, no chance
