Is downloading the windows 7 beta really worth it? Is it better than vista? -

Ok i have a vista computer which i got a year and a-half ago. and I was thinking of downloading windows 7. Is it in anyways better than vista so far? Is the beta really worth downloading for 30 days

Hi Eddie, My name’s Ron. I’m a member of the Windows Outreach Team. I thought I’d stop in and answer some of your questions about the Windows 7 Beta. First, let’s just establish that this is a Beta test edition of Windows 7 and not meant to be your sole operating system. You can download and install Windows 7 a couple different ways, you can get all that information starting from here, the Windows 7 page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... Also, the Beta will run out on Aug. 10, 2009, at which time you’ll have to reload your previous OS. Make sure you have all your items backed up and have your original recovery or install disc handy. You can find out more about that process here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... Beta testing is incredibly important to bringing a good final product to market, so if you’re interested, definitely take advantage of your chance to shape the final Windows 7 Hope this helps. Cheers, Ron Windows Outreach Team

If you are looking to put the windows 7 beta on your laptop as the main operating system, dont do it. Although in tests, windows 7 even in the beta stage, proved superior to vista in almost every test, it isnt worth putting it on your primary laptop/desktop. If you bought vista with your machine then keep it until the first commercial release of windows 7 comes out. Beta tests never have all of the drivers required for custom comptuers like dell or sony. For now vista is better to keep on your pc because its already activated and is a safe build.

It s better in alot of ways, but it is quirky. I would not suggest installing beta software on a computer that you depend on every day. Unless your pretty techie, I would wait for the release, but this one is going to blow Vista out of the water. Also, the beta isn t for 30 days, it runs until August of 2009. I did set it up to dual boot with vista, which I actually like ever since the service pack, so once I m done, I can wipe it out, so be prepared to back up often just in case!

I haven t switched over, but my word of advice is to NOT use it on a PC that you use 24/7. People are going to say quot;Windows 7 Is GREAT! No problems!!!!quot; But what about the time a problem comes up? It s only in BETA, and there is no guarantee to the consumers that their data is backed-up, or protected in any real way. If you want to try 7 out, I suggest using a PC not used so much.

The Windws 7Beta lasts until August. At the moment, the Beta is very unstable and I would not suggest downloading and installing it unless you like computer lockups every 5minutes. From what I saw in it, it was basically Vista, some less complicated, some more.

the beta goes till august. so you have more time than you think. it seems to use a lot less ram, so that is a bonus. it is basically vista 2.0 but by installing it, you may delete the stuff on your hard drive. make a partition if possible and back up your data.

Microsoft learnt a lot of lessons with Vista and the new release is to vista what XP is to Win2000. I woul recommend you get it (but not the beta-it expires in August and is just a test release) However Windows 7 is heaps faster , less problems etc

It is if you like to try out new things. But don t make it your primary OS if I may suggest. Just run it in another experimental computer or virtual machine, and try it out.

yes windows 7 is much better than vista . I have used it for one month. But its still in beta that means its not final. so if u wana try u should download it.

Dont do it, its not ready yet. Wait until the final release. I did it and its so buggy dude.

I would not recommend it. Just wait.
