How much will Windows 7 cost when released? -

I ve installed the beta, and I really like it, its fast, stable, and has lots of nice features. I am just curious what it will cost me to keep it once it is released.

Hi Of The Wood, My name’s Ron. I’m a part of the Windows Outreach Team and thought I’d just stop in to offer a bit of info that might help you out. First, while the Beta testing of Windows 7 is going well (from most accounts), Microsoft is still working on things like pricing, release dates, etc. However, Microsoft did confirm the different versions that will be released (http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=659). Most are expecting the pricing to be in line with Vista pricing, so I wouldn’t expect to see something outrageously priced – that’s not how Microsoft works. The best place to keep up-to-date on all things Windows 7 is the product page, so check it out here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... There’s lots of info there about features and the Beta testing that’s going on. If you’re interested in being a Beta tester, you’ve still got a few days left before they cap downloads. Hope this helps a bit, at least in giving you resources to get your Windows 7 news in the future. Cheers, Ron Windows Outreach Team

Only two of the six versions will be available through retail and those versions will be priced: Home Premium - $260 Professional - $300 Edit: all the Linux fanboys need to chill out and look at the asker s question and the Yahoo! answers guidelines. I am the only response so far that actually answered the question. Get a life and be helpful instead of going on and saying that linux is the answer to all of our problems.

depends...most likely it will be comparable to vista...between $100 and $400 for one of the 6 different versions. the only exception might be the quot;starterquot; addition, with its limited functionality it might be around $50 dollars.

Why Windows?! The web is full of free stable and very cool operating systems.. Try Mandriva, or Suse linux, or Fedora Linux.. They are all better than windows and much more secure.. they are also absolutely free..

It would be prudent of Microsoft to keep the price around the same as Vista. They have a considerable amount of creeping to do after Vista. WE SHALL SEE. LUg.

7 dollars. LOL! probably about the same as vista, but they haven t released prices yet.

Don t buy it. Switch to Linux, it s free!
