No. It s not going to increase sales. MSFT was growing shooting up like a rocket in its early days because every time it released something, it had new features that people wanted, so people who already had the product bought upgrade versions. Now MSFT s products have all the features that anybody could want, so their sales tend to be through new computer sellers. So Windows 7 sales will be on machines that would have had Vista or XP and paid a fee anyway.
