@Turnip: Not entirely true. I ve heard great things about Windows 7 increasing performance in gaming (as much as double or triple the FPS on lower-grade machines). I just installed Windows 7 on a partition backup comp, and I ll be testing it out later today after installing drivers/programs. Until then, know that I ve heard great things about Windows 7 and gaming performance. To the person asking the question -- it s okay to install on your main computer, as long as you know what you re doing. Create a partition (or even better, get another HDD), and install 7 on there, while keeping your original OS on your original HDD. I would also recommend backing up your current HDD to ensure that there is no data loss. Keep the installation DVD handy (it has a recovery menu, which works well), and learn how to dualboot so you can safely enter your previous operating system in case something goes wrong.
windows 7 is a beta product and beta products should never be installed on your main computer unless you are capable of undoing the damage they can and probably will cause to your system. you just need more ram and better graphic acceleration it is not the operating system that governs how well a game will play on your machine but the machines capabilities. ?
