If I dual boot Windows 7 and Vista will I lose my files that I have with vista? -

I have dual hard drive on my laptop and am wondering if i do a dual boot will I lose any files?

Hello pickedoff- There is always a risk this may happen when Beta versions of OS s are utilized. Here is what Microsoft has to say about the risk of data loss that may occur when you download Windows 7 (See 5th tab down- Are there risks in installing the Beta). http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... I would advise Virtual Machines rather than repartitioning. It easier, MS version if free, and if you have 2 + GB RAM and a decent machine the VMS run great.

If you shrink the partition with vista on it first, and then install 7 onto the unallocated space, then you won t lose anything. You can shrink partitions in the disk manager, which I believe you bring up by typing diskmgmt.msc into the run box.
