Problem might be with network card drivers.
Go to Device Manager and open the network adapters and see if your network card is working and has the correct drivers. I don t have W7 here at work but typically I will get to it by right clicking on my computer, opening Manager, and then look at Device Manager in the tree. You probably don t have the drivers installed - I had the same issue. What you ll need to do is get the latest drivers for your card and have W7 install them. Regardless you need to see what the status of your network card is. If I recall there is an icon in the right hand side of the task bar that tells you if there are problems (second from the right?). Open it and go to your network device if it is listed. See what it says.
