Does downloading Windows 7 Beta delete everything on your computer? -

Everybody is saying that windows 7 is good and to download the free beta version. I want to but if it deletes everything on my computer I won t!

You can install Windows 7 and supposedly upgrade Vista without removing anything. But after you do, you will not be able to go back to Vista in August when the beta ver expires, without reformatting and reinstalling Vista. To do this you will need Vista recovery/install Disks for your PC. If you don t have them or you PC mfr puts them on the hard drive and you erase the file when you install Win7, then you will be SOL. Good luck

It depends. First off, you need to know if you CAN install 7 [you need to be running Vista to do it] Second, you need to know if you can get back to Vista after the beta is over [do you have Vista Install disks?] If you don t have Vista, you ll have to erase your drive entirely, so that 7 will install, which WILL erase your data and stuff. I m not sure about Vista though, it might or might not. It WILL delete any .MP3 Files you have on your computer, so if you have MP3 s on the C drive, it ll get rid of those, but if you have them on an external, disconnect the external during install...

Well, first of all you need to have enough Hard Drive space to download Windows 7. Next, yes, you need to do a clean install which means the installation of Windows 7 will remove all files from your existing HD, unless you choose to install it on some other external drives.

yes you have to do a clean install which will remove anything on your pc and as windows 7 is beta version i looked on microsoft site its in trial state and will stop working in august

I installed it on a spare partition
