Yes. 7 is basically a better version of Vista. It s what Vista should have been.
Yeah you can, just make sure you always keep your RAM above 1gb, which I would recommend as a minumum (and I think high-street retailers have started recommending as a requirement) since Vista is more resource-intensive than previous Windows operating systems, keep 2gb in there and you should get pretty good results from installing windows 7. I have the beta right now running on my Vista ready motherboard with 1gb, works great!
