Yes i have exactly the same specs, and it works very well. You can decide on setting the RAM and HD space (1500mb RAm when using both pcs and 2000mb Or more RAM when using only vm) It is a bit slow but Im running it a VM thats probably why (same vm as you) Therefore, you can run Windows 7 in Virtual PC email me at XBOXFREAK101@gmail.com if you have any more questions. Good luck!
To answer your first question, I don t see why Windows 7 wouldn t work in a virtual PC environment. You seem to get the idea that it won t be quick, which is the only real issue. But irrespective, what have you got to lose by trying? Its a VPC. Give it a whirl. As for reverting from an upgrade, I can only go on past experience and say, it is HIGHLY unlikely that a downgrade will be possible after installing Windows 7. Vista won t come off an install of XP, which won t come off an install of 2000, which won t come off an install of NT4 blah-blah-blah. You get the idea. Good luck with it, Jason
you may want to do a dual boot, How to Dual Boot Two Versions of Windows: http://www.ehow.com/how_2384100_dual-boo...
Yes, Windows 7 will be able to run a Virtual Machine, I have successfully installed and run it on one, however I used Virtualbox and not VPC (by M$). I would dedicate 1GB to Windows7, although 512MB can work. HDD Space, I cannot remember the amount of space is required by Windows 7 - but try about 10-20GB. (correct me if I m wrong) gt;56GB of space to W7 is more than enough. Upgrading, Windows 7 is still beta - I would wait for the final stable release and then buy it - but to be safe BackUp your Vista. EDIT: You will not experience the Aero (or the one on W7) theme. From my experience. I have successfully installed Windows 7 to a virtual machine - it suggests 3 antivirus products: Norton, AVG and Kaspersky. Norton and AVG require some sort of registration/purchase, and Kaspersky (beta v.8) caused a blue screen, driver error twice. I am using Avast! Home Edition - I have also seen some ppl using BitDefender(?). gt; During installation their was an option to upgrade (only from Vista, not XP). Hope this extra info helps.
