Vista users, are you pleased with its performance/would you switch back to XP/would you upgrade to Windows 7? -

Hi, I m just curious with all the buzz about Windows 7 and the general tone on the internet that Vista was a bit of a flop, do you agree that Vista was a bad idea? I had XP on my old desktop, then I got a laptop that came pre-installed with Vista and I have to say personally, I prefer XP. The Vista has some nice features and visually speaking, it s cooler/flashier, but I just feel like it s not too user friendly. I was seriously considering switching to XP which I ve known and loved for years, but now that Windows 7 is on the horizon (and people with the know how can install the beta version on their computers to test it out, at least until August), I was wondering what the rest of you Vista users think. Did you already switch back to XP on your Vista computer/laptop? Do you still have Vista but want to switch back to XP or upgrade to Windows 7 when it s available? Or are you happy with Vista and you re going to stick with it? I think I ll wait to see how the Windows 7 is received when it s fully out on the market but I think I ll either get XP or the Windows 7. Thanks for your replies.

Upgrade to Windows 7 of course. After using many Windows versions, XP is pretty stable to me, but Vista really degrades compared to XP. After downloading Windows 7 a couple of weeks, and now I m using it, it s pretty stable, but it still has errors on some applications (like iTunes and Java). Windows 7 also has the Windows Orb as a start menu, and the taskbar has changed to icons only button. Two new features like AeroShake and AeroSnap is included in Windows 7 and still has the Vista look, but they changed the wallpaper from Aurora to Underwater Aurora. Still, I m hoping they would release the final version of Windows 7 with fixed bugs that was in Vista.

I am extremely pleased with it. After using XP for a couple of years I swore by it s speed. I was put off by the many remarks about Vista and how it has performance issues. I have found no issues what so ever and it has been as fast as possible. It offers lots of new features and the themes and layouts are amazing. I wouldn t be looking to upgrade to windows 7 yet as it looks virtually the same as Vista. I would recommend it 100% as long as you have a fairly new PC. Good luck, hope this helps.

Vista (with SP1) seems fine to me although I dual boot to XP still when I need it. I m also running Windows 7 - it seems quot;lighterquot; on resource and footprint than Vista and also includes some nice changes/features (info and download link below for those interested).

I haven t had Vista for very long but so far, I much prefer XP and tried to download it on this computer, but it didn t work. I think that maybe once I get used to using Vista it will be easier. I sure hope so. Good luck. I was practically forced to buy Microsoft Office and Student 2007. I was not pleased with that. I felt that my purchase price was sufficient and I should have been able to get along without buying extras just to get along. Computers just get more and more costly as time goes by. Why does Inernet Explorer 7 close all windows when I close only one tab or window? Please help!? -

Everytime I open a few windows or tabs in Internet Explorer and decide to close only one tab/window, a message pops up which asks me if I want to close all browsers or restart the browser? It s frustrating. I have already tried unchecking the option for quot;close tabs, requires restarting of your browserquot; but problem still exists. Thanks in advance for any helpful answers...

Whenever I am called to work on any computer that is not working as expected, I start out by cleaning it thoroughly and rebooting. I choose to use free software for all the different cleanings - you may have your favorites. First, reboot your computer 2 - Run Ccleaner to clean out all temp files, etc. 3 - Run AVG or your anti-virus program, after updating! 4 - Run Spybot, Ad-Aware and Spyware Blaster after updating! 5 - Reboot the computer 6 - Run Error-checking (make sure to check both boxes!) 7 - Run DEFRAG Reboot and see if the issue is still there. It sounds like you maybe working with multiple tabs open at one time. If you click the red/white X at the upper right hand of your screen you will close all of your tabs. However if you click the small grey X per website tab, it will only close that specific website.

If your PC can run Vista x64, it can run W7 x64. If not, stick with the 32bit version. TIP: 2 GB RAM may not be enough, either.

use 32bit if you dont have 4gb ram or more, and u can use it, it is like vista but runs on less ram, alot les lol. I have it on my spare computer right now. it only has 1gb ram and it runs fine

The processor is what matters. The question is if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit processor. Other than that, your specs are fine.

Can iTunes 7 work in windows XP without putting files in My Documents/ My Music? -

I work on a network and the complete mydocs syncs up with the corporate server. I dont want my itunes stuff doing this.

Yes, just go into the options and tell iTunes not to organize your music folder or copy music to that folder. It will keep a link to the music file instead of the actual file. If you move the file though, you ll have to add it to iTunes again.
