A question about windows 7? -

I want to test the Windows 7 in VMware software and install it there. can I use the Aero theme in windows 7

This Registry Hack to enable Aero in Windows 7 can also be used on Windows 7 install on Virtual Machine like Virtual PC 2007 but this wont work on Vmware Player which doesn’t have DirectX 9 or support physical machine video Drives. I really wanted to see if Windows 7 is really what everyone is hyping it up to be. So will I have to partition another section on my hard drive?

lol you don t have to reformat your whole harddrive.Try to make Partition of your harddrive.Is another way :D but if you don t know how try to learn by going to google and search on i ll give you a link to create a separate partition which you have to be very careful with it if you don t know how to resize create and such..

If you have to ask you shouldn t be running a beta. Betas (expecially beta operating systems) can cause damage - like reformatting the entire drive, for instance. The reason software is beta is that it might (and probably does) still have bugs. Always run a beta on a computer that has no needed data on it. (Betas are for beta testers - releasing a beta to the public is just a marketing scam.)

Ok, Yes it is the hype everyone is making it. You can get it on friday Janurary 9th as a public beta You will have to use a duel boot to use xp and windows 7 at the same time. or reformat your hard drive and do a clean install of windows 7. xD

Should i keep my windows 98 back up or use that extra hard drive to try windows 7? -

right now im running on windows xp and i love it. i don t use windows 98 anymore and have had no problems with xp. so should i wipe the 98 drive and try for the windows 7 or keep the 98 drive as a backup in case xp fails. or use a new hard drive (which i do not have) 10 points for the best answer

Move on, it s very freeing to finally be rid of old data that you never use but keep around just in case. Drop 98 and try out windows 7 on the old drive (assuming you have the ram and processor speed to run it). I d skip over Vista if you re happy with XP, especially since it s going to be dropped soon anyway. If you ever need 98 again, you can just go on ebay and buy a copy for $10, but it s so out of date it s probably not worth it. I d try windows 2000 if you ever want to downgrade from xp.

I d skip the Windows 7 beta altogether. There s really no sense in being a quot;crashquot; test dummy to do Microsoft a favor. Wait til they get a working replacement for XP, and preferably after that first service patch (which we all know will come). You ll still have 98 to fool around with.

Windows Vista upgrades to Windows 7? -

My laptop was purchased new (aftermarket) 12mos ago. It has had fluke behaviors and some applications have never worked. Does anyone know who will be included in the quot;freequot; upgrades to Windows 7? Does anyone have info on the lawsuit against Microsoft?

I believe there will be an upgrade option, but as we are all aware the words Microsoft and Free do not go together in the same sentence. LUg.

Hi i was hust wondering if windows 7 was going to be like a whol brand new running system that you would have to buy of if it was an update to fix all the problems with vista?

First of all, Windows 7 is going to be a whole new operating system. Second of all, it s not going to be free of course and you d have to buy it. Plus, what s so wrong with Windows Vista anyway. Service Pack 1 for it fixed many problems. I think the problem now is that people don t like change so all of a sudden they downgrade to XP. The change from XP to Vista is as significant as the change from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95. I m sure people didn t like change at that time but they eventually sucked it up and got the later versions of Windows after 3.1. Same with now. People will eventually suck it up on the changes of Vista and buy that and later versions of Windows.

It s going to be a new operating system, in fact they seem to have stripped down the kernel to a few megabytes and working from there on. I suggest you look at http://www.windowsvienna.com to learn more about this. However, most of the news today regarding the OS are still rumors.

Windows 7 is the working name for Microsoft s next OS (meaning it s a whole new operating system, not an upgrade). Hopefully it will suck far less than Vista, but I m not counting on it. I gave up on Windows a long time ago.

So i assumed that you are talking abt internet explorer 7 which comes with vista. You have the option to use other browser like mozilla firefox,safari etc

Hi, You most probably have a 32bit processor. To install windows 7 you will have to download a program to burn the .iso to a DVD then you can install it through DVD. No support comes with Windows 7 beta, so if you mess something up, you re the one who s going to have to fix it. What you downloaded from Microsoft is an ISO file. You will need to burn it to a DVD. Roxio or another similar software will do this for you. If your processor is a Core 2 Duo or an AMD, it is 64 bit. But if you want to upgrade your existing installation, your existing installation has to be 64 bit too. If you want to go ahead with trying Windows 7, I suggest you do some reading online to make sure you know what you re doing.

you need to burn the .iso image onto a dvd to install it and dont install it as your main os on your main computer and if you dont know if you have a 32 bit or 64 bit processor you prolly shouldnt be using a beta seeing as its not a full os and its for testing purposes and if you have to ask what windows 7 is on here you shouldnt use it
