Why cant I install Windows 7 x64 bit on Virtual PC? -

Hi First, I tried to install Win7 (beta version) on a separate partition I created with Paragon Partition Manager, this program has this quot;Install new OSquot; thingy, so I created a new partition and I tried to install Win7. It said some error message and that I should try booting from the Win 7 install DVD. So I changed my BIOS settings (Primary Boot Device to CDROM). That didn t work either, so I decided to try on Virtual PC. And there, when I booted from the Win7 DVD, it said my CPU doesn t support x64 bit. I googled it, and I think I found something that said it did. My computer: GIGABYTE EP35-DS3 Motherboard Intel Core2Duo E8400 Processor, 3GHz 4GB Kingmax RAM Gainward Bliss 9500GT 512MB [Nvidia GPU] HDD Samsung 500GB 7200rpm SATA-II (HD502IJ) Microsoft Windows XP Home SP3 (I hope that helps.) Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi, maybe your bios doesn t support 64 bit processor, check the configuration on the bios, for any feature to enable 64 bit computing. Virtual pc doesn t support 64 bits OS, you can use another virtualization program such as vmware or virtualbox, which support 64bits OS. In Virtualbox i had installed windows 7 x64, you have to activate the feature IO APIC to the installation works. Good luck.

You can t run 64-bit code on a 32-bit virtual machine.

Didn t work for me either. Not sure what the deal is.
