Wait for 7. I say this because even Microsoft admits that Vista went awry. Things went all buggy, and the security was terrible. The new interface takes a while to get used to, be it the filing system or the start menu. The Ribbon interface is also very confusing at first, but that interface is optional. Vista makes virtual hard disks very hard, and although all the good applications are good, they are more or less bloatware. It take a while to edit out what you don t need. Windows 7 looks good, introduces the Ribbon interface to Paint, Notepad etc and makes jumplists, grouping documents in same applications so that when you hover the cursor over the application in the taskbar, a preview of all documents open above the taskbar. Everything is better in animations and extremely graceful, so definitely wait for 7 or buy a Macintosh.
That all depends. People are unhappy with Vista and are constantly compaining about it, but the same thing is going to happen with Windows 7. It isn t going to be perfect and people will complain about it too. I use Vista and haven t had a major problems. You need to decide if it is worth the wait and the potential problems with the new Windows.
How about trying Linux? There are many reasons why it is better (and a few why it isn t), but these days it is at least as capable as any Windows OSs and doesn t require anywhere near the sort of high specs that Windows needs. Biggest problem is if you simply must use some software that either hasn t been ported to Linux or doesn t run under WINE, but then you can usually find an open source alternative that will do the same job.
It all depends on what you do, what the specification of your PC is, and whether you are happy with XP. One thing I will say, is never ever go with the first release of a Microsh!t Windows OS, always wait for the second or third release. I know of an independant computer shop who is downgrading new PCs from Vista to XP because so many people are unhappy with Vista. It does take a lot of processor cycles and system resources.
I use Vista Ultimate all the time now but it does need up to date hardware to be able to run it properly and a couple of Gig of RAM. Older processors are going to struggle with it because of the much better GUI. Personally I wouldn t like to go back to XP because it is so basic.
for the moment stick with xp vista is far to troublesom it s also a resouce hog if I were you I d wait for windows 7 to appear and hope it s better than vista, I am windows 7 should be release sometime in 2009 according to Microsoft so not to long to wait
if you want to run the newer games you need vista i like it it does what i want and with delays windows 7 will appear around 2012 i wasn t going to wait that long
I would wait. Vista is not as bad as everyone makes it seem, but XP is much better, and hopefully 7 will be way better if they use Vista as a learning block
Get Vista. Wait about 6 months at least after 7 s release to get it so they can wipe out any bugs. Plus 7 is at least 12-18 months away, and Vista is sweet.
Don t get Vista. It s riddled with over-security problems and extra features you ll never need.
better stick to xp it is the reliable version of windows tha vista vista creates a problem for its users
Stick with XP Vista is not bad but its not worth the upgrade.
go with what your heart tells you to do i hope you can figger it out.
i m waiting for 7
