I believe you can because the Vista recovery is on a different partition. When you install Windows 7 it will be on a different partitions. Make sure you backup everything tho. I think I read something where you can t upgrade your Windows 7 Beta to the regular version when it comes out. But I believe you can with Vista.

Windows 7 actually give you both options, you can either install it as an update to vista and when it expires just delete the upgrade and keep vista or if you have a second hard drive you can install it as a second operating system.
