Would he wait be worth it on upgrading to windows 7 instead of vista ultimate in Australia the following PC? -

HP pavilion dv5-1004ax, AMD Turion (tm) X2 Duel- core mobile RM- 70 2.00GHZ, 4GB RAM upgraded on Tuesday, graphics 256megabyte dedicated, ATI Radeon HD 3450- resolution 1280 x 800, 320GB hard drive- Would this notebook work good with windows 7 and would i loose everything and have to download all the drivers

the news is out since a couple days; it will be possible to upgrade DIRECTLY from XP to Windows / NT7 COMMERCIALY, thus, somehow, the install program of NT7 will look for an installed (amp; working?) copy of XP but will NOT upgrade the XP installation but reformatting the partition instead. and the customer will thus lose all his setups (programs amp; settings) and data, if any is on the C: / XP drive. XP will be supported (thus fixes and security patches but no new functionalities will be provided) until 2014. as a private user, you can live perfectly well with XP and don t need to worry about the hassle of reinstalling amp; all, certainly not to v!$t0.

If you upgrade to the Windows 7 trial, you are risking your entire system because it s set to expire after a few months, and there will be some dead time before the OS is ready to be shipped for retail. People are estimating that it will come out by the end of the year, and it s said to be a much better operating system compared to Vista. It just depends how you were to upgrade and if you can wait.

1st. There is nothing ultimate about any version of Windows especially Vista. 2nd. In the past decade Microsoft has never released widely welcoming operating system. 3rd. The only upgrade to windows will be features. They never take time to iron out bugs and work on cleaning up code. Their business strategy is dead. The only reason people keep buying PCs is because they are scared of change and worried the transition will not be easy. Even with moderate specs you have included the current or new operating system will not use your hardware effectively. Save the trouble and start looking at Apple. The feature you will use in Vista and Windows 7 have been out for years, just not on the windows platform. Even when they do come out the will not run smooth or as effectively as they will on a Mac. I use Pc s and a Macbook. My Dualcore is upstairs and has been off for the past month or so. My macbook has replaced my desktop and not for convince, but because I have started to hate windows when I got my new laptop. my little 13quot; screen is sucks compared to my dual 24 s on the pc, but one can only deal with the PC Bull@#$@ a short while after you relize why Apple keeps growing while Windows is always promising an experience that is not currently available for sale anywhere at any price.

Windows 7 is still in Beta-release, so it is not recommended to Upgrade to Windows 7 yet.... It would be in your best interest to stick with Vista (Yuck! lol), or in my humble opinion, downgrade to Windows XP... XP is actually better and more stable (Not to mention more compatible) than Vista. I digress, though.... Unless you want to Beta-test Windows 7, you may want to stay away from Windows 7 for another year or so and get a final release

Vista is crap.

Why is Microsoft working on Windows 7 when they havent even worked out problems with Vista? -

Vista has lots of bugs and incompatibility issues. Why is MS already working on Windows 7 when they haven t even fixed the current OS?

I am guessing that it is because of the bad publicity that Vista has gotten. MS probably feels that Vista is a slippery slope best left alone, and hopes that Windows 7 will be the next Windows XP.

Windows Vista is the buggiest version of windows and I m using it right now they ve been working on windows seven before the release of windows vista and windows vista is a rushed and no effort version of windows..... Windows 7 is by far 100% faster than vista and the bootup times on windows 7 are faster even than xp!!!! so yeah windows seven is set to be released on the second half of 2009 and its an apple killer by that I mean leopard killer because windows 7 is the best version of windows ever made. YES its better than XP Edit: Windows vista is not so buggy any more since the release of the service pack 1 but its still lacks performance.

Because Vista is already a bust, and no matter how much they fix it up, no matter how much makeup and lipstick, it ll still be a pig. Business has already found out there s not much difference between XP amp; Vista, so why go thru the trauma of upgrading to Vista when all you get is poor performance. Even when they get the bugs and fixes in, who wants to buy an Edsel; the name is already tainted. So the logical thing for Microsoft to do is dress it up in new clothes, put more lipstick on it, and name it something catchy like Windows 7, and try to sell it again in 2010.

That is because it is not feasible to quot;fixquot; Vista which also has VERY LOW adoption with users after 2 years so it is more sense to try and get Windows 7 right. Microsoft may have all the money in the world but they will NEVER be able to fix Vista - it is just too much of a heap of spaghetti code as well as very poor 3rd party driver compatibility and usuability.

So they can force you to buy windows 7 like they did with Vista from XP, and forced people to buy XP from Windows ME, They want your money so they force you to buy the next version of windows when it comes out thats why people are moving to Linux (Open Source Software) Free Operating System and Software and for those that don t know better they have moved to the Mac Operating System check out the websites below if you want something better than windows Vista, or windows 7 ffor FREE

It s called multi-tasking with different teams working on different projects. Vista service pack 2 is coming in April. Windows 7 fixed most of the stuff Vista has issues with and in my experience, Vista is now a decent OS.

They are always working on the next version. That does not mean that they are ignoring Vista development. They do have more that one member of staff you know!

the short answer is Microsoft has more or less given up on Vista.

Where I can find windows 7? -

Hi; where I can find windows 7 with 1GB or smallest and how I install it thenx

Windows 7 is not available LEGALLY. End Of. Alright, ok. Try here: http://windowseven.co.cc/index.php/2008/... You can re-visit my website for the latest builds of Windows 7 and the latest pressed news. Torrents are the most anonymous thing you can download from. Do you realize that Sri Lanka is covered by the International Laws, that means the Copyright Act Laws? I ll give you links, but I won t give you the original data, I don t trust torrents, I live in the UK, copyright laws are powerful here, just like they are in the US. The VHD is actually more legal, because it wasn t copyrighted, it s machinery, a virtual hard drive at that. WINDOWS 7 BETA IS NOT RELEASED, IT S PRE-BETA, WHICH MEANS LATE-ALPHA, WHICH MEANS ALPHA, USING INTERNAL TESTING BUILDS IN AN EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT, OF THE SUBJECT OF SOFTWARE IS A VIOLATION OF US AND INTERNATIONAL LAWS. ANYBODY CAUGHT SHARING THE PROPERTIES THAT ARE SUBJECT TO THIS KIND OF COPYRIGHTED WILL BE REPORTED AND DIRECTLY EXPOSED TO A COURT OF US LAW, TO FACE THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE CHARGES AND/OR PUNISHMENTS. I DO NOT AGREE IN THIS KIND OF SOFTWARE PIRACY, AND ONLY FOR THE PURPOSES OF ADVERTISING MY WEBSITE, I WILL SHOW YOU THE ACTUAL LINKS TO WINDOWS 7 VIA PRESS-FACING, I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS, AND IF YOU DARE ACTUALLY COMPLETE THE DOWNLOAD AND USE / SHARE THIS COPY OF THE SOFTWARE PROPORTIONS YOURSELF, IM SURE MICROSOFT AND ITS AGENCIES ARE HAPPY TO TRACK DOWN YOUR IP TO THE LOCATION, READY FOR PROSECUTION. http://www.mydigitallife.info/ Just a little notice. Reading the notice myself, gave we that little extra boost to not download nor use Windows 7, let alone the bugs it might endure. My advice to you is, if you can wait for a month, download the evaluation copy: http://windowseven.co.cc/index.php/2008/... Thanks. CybX.

I am currently working with Windows 7 Build 6956 which is due to become Beta very soon, however the size of the ISO. image is over 2GB. I am not prepared to hand out torrents on here for obvious reasons. LUg.

It is not out yet. A beta version is coming out in the spring and a full version sometime in the fall. BTW there is no way any popular OS now, including linux, will be under 1 gbs of harddrive space.

Windows 7 isn t out yet and there is no modern operating system, other than some specialised Linux distros, which are under 1GB

You just wait for it to come out. Obviously, you re too ignorant to get it figured out.

i don t think it is released to the public yet

Windows 7: No Audio after resuming from hibernation.? -

Running windows 7, whenever I resume from hibernation, the sound stops working. Also, when i plug in headphones, sound still comes out from the laptop speakers, even though there s sound in the headphones. Any recommended fixes? Thanks

use ubuntu

So windows 7 will practically be the same **** as vista? -

no major changes, just a couple of minor changes they could send to vista users via an update. A great way to make money though

i thnk the overalll interface should be better and way more stable and just a cleaner look

Let s see YOU make an OS. Report Abuse

When is Windows 7 expected to be released? -

The beta I use now expires in August. The public beta is a near final version. I expect Windows 7 to be released when the beta expires or shortly there after by the end of the year.

see this is exactly what Microsoft wants...they failed to advertise vista well enough so people feared it and didn t want it so they advertise the crap out of 7 and people cant wait for it. This only proves the ability of large corporations to bend and make people think what the corporations want. and Windows 7 will be out within the next year so keep your pants on

Since Windows 7 beta quot;expiresquot; in August (and you ll need to re-install either Vista or XP to continue) my guess is this summer - It would be a crime by Microsoft to have all those beta users scramble to get their computers working in August if it where not true.

Windows 7 would not be released until January 2010. I think the beta is out though.

Next year but u can get the beta now limited number!!

Anywhere from a year to a year and a half, it is too soon for a solid release date.

Maybe next year try to check microsoft site

Early next year.

(((2009))) Windows 7 (((2009)))? -

i just found out that Microsoft is making a new OS called Windows 7...why???they just put out vista...sure this one has all the bugs fixed and some fancy toolbar or something but why so soon???anyways my question is...do u plan to upgrade your pc when it comes out???

currently, no i wouldnt. Windows 7 mainly has support for touchscreen so far, it s more of a future hedge. Still, it s a work-in-progress, they re definitely going to add new stuff to it. Then maybe, just maybe, it will be better than xp (which vista isn t on balance)

windows 7 or codename: vienna is released to public on 2010. maybe, windows 7 beta released on 2009. Windows 7 is not big size. xp 5 gb, vista 20-25 gb, and, vienna or windows 7 is thinner or thinnest windows size. windows 7 included multi touch screen, this features is touch a screen, and touch more than 1 fingers. you can see the video windows 7(original video) in youtube or other. Windows 7 interface like windows vista, but rich than windows vista. Wow ! maybe i upgrade my pc/notebook, when windows 7 is cheap. hehehehe..... i now make a 2 OS in one notebook : xp and vista ultimate. you can see my blog at : http://go-ind-tech.blogspot.com comment yap ! sorry for bad english, i am Indonesian, and 13th years old.

I already have a copy and it is no better than vista. I have a vista computer but it has xp. I will not upgrade

Can you download Windows 7 BETA to a cd not a dvd? -

Can you download Windows 7 BETA and copy it to a cd to make an Operating system cd or do you have to do it to a dvd?

Just dvd. Not really worth it though, too many bugs/freezes that need to be worked out. I would wait for beta 2.

If you don t have access to a DVD burner to burn Windows 7 to, you can try using ISO mounting software. Try using CloneDVD: http://static.slysoft.com/SetupCloneDVD.... You will need to restart your computer after installation even though it doesn t tell you to. Once you are done restarting, double-click on the Virtual Clone Drive shortcut and put a checkmark in the quot;Virtual Sheepquot; checkbox, and set the quot;Number of Drivesquot; to at least quot;1quot;. You can now go to My Computer and right-click on the Virtual CloneDrive and go to quot;Virtual CloneDrive gt; Mountquot; and locate your Windows 7 ISO and the install should load up. If it doesn t load, double click on the Virtual CloneDrive in My Computer and click on the setup.

Nope but I have a better solution For you =D You don t need to use a CD, or DVD for that matter. Check it out. Download WinRar. (http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar380.exe) Install it. Make sure everything is closed and all files are backed up. Download Windows 7 beta .iso Right click on that file. Select extract to (file name) Open the folder Double click the setup file. And it installs Trust me I did it and am running Windows 7 right now. I hope this helps Good Luck Gumby If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

it is 2.44 gb so no dvd only. You could modify a flash drive to boot first into the windows 7 installer incase you dont have a dvd drive just google it.

if its an iso file, you can always use a virtual mount to use the file, for example demon tools, google it.

it ain t gonna fit!!! Microsoft = Bloatsville why do you think they require you to buy a new pc everytime they upgrade their OS!!!

It s too big for a CD, you have to put it on a DVD.

How can you get the Windows 7 taskbar to cycle through different colours/colors? ? -

Windows 7 Transparency with Aero Constantly go through a cycle of different colours

Thats not an option. 7 is cool though, right?

Sorry, not possible

Windows 7 on intel celeron M? -

Can i run windows 7 on an intel celeron M....???? any hitches? Can i even play games like assassins creed on my laptop which requires a core 2 duo?.... how can i make it play? 1GB RAM 80GB HDD 1.6GHz Intel celeron M U can suggest any upgrades!

Ubuntu would be the best upgrade

Minimum recommended specs call for: 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor 1 GB of system memory 16 GB of available disk space Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (to enable the Aero theme) DVD-R/W Drive Internet access (to download the Beta and get updates)

man dont install windows 7 on that!!! even vista eats up 30% of resources of a c2d processor on IDLE!!! and you even wanna play games. so my advice: forget win7 and stick to windows xp.

Does anyone know where i could download the current windows 7 beta? -

I have been trying to download windows seven for sometime know and everytime that i try there site tells me the page i reqested can not be found. I do have a msn account and it is confirmed but it still will not let me download

if the site wont let you download it make sure you are using IE not firefox or any other browser cause u can only download it via IE but if that doesnt help then you can use the direct link to the .iso file and then just use the product key you were given when you confirmed your email adress direct link to iso 32 bit : http://download.microsoft.com/download/6... 64 bit: http://download.microsoft.com/download/6... i would download the 32 bit windows 7 and remember dont run it as your main os install it on a computer you dont use, dual boot it or run it as a virtual machine

If you haven t tried the Windows 7 official page yet, try there. You will first have to fill out a form before you can obtain a key and download.

It is available right here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Searc...

It s not out for the general public to test yet.

How to i remove automatic sign on, on Windows Messenger 7.3? -

On Messenger when i sign into Live Messenger it says on 7.3 you have signed into a diffrent computer and then it signs me off Messenger 7.3 and sometimes when im talking to my mates it signs off and go s on Messenger 7.3. Help please

Now, each time you use someone else s computer for MSN Messenger, you need to make sure the features are off. To keep Messenger from automatically starting at login, and from allowing automatic login. Click on Tools, Options, General. Now UNcheck quot;Automatically run messenger when I log on to Windowsquot;, and quot;Allow automatic sign in when connected to the Internetquot;. We also need to force Messenger to forget who we are. The next step that everyone seems to overlook is simple: Sign Out -gt; Hit the File Menu, and select Sign Out. Now at this point you ll see that Messenger may still remembers who you are, AND remembers your password. So UNcheck: Remember Me, Remember my Password and Sign me in automatically. At this point you should also click on quot;Forget mequot;. If you ever use Messenger on someone else s computer, you must check these settings each time you are done, or you risk leaving your information on their computer. I ve put together a short, less than two minute video walking through the steps to disable the automatic login and remember me features of MSN Messenger that you ll need to take each time you finish using it on someone else s computer.

What would be the best way to install the Windows 7 beta for me (triple-boot)? -

I guess the beta is being released tomorrow, and I want to try it out. Currently I m triple-booting Vista, XP and Linux. I d be willing to replace my Linux partition with Windows 7 for the time being as I rarely use it. Here is my HDD configuration: Disk 0: Windows Vista Ultimate x64 (500 GB) Disk 1: Partition 1: Windows XP (200 GB) Partition 2: Linux (50 GB) Currently my computer loads GRUB first, which defaults to Windows, then it switches over to the Windows Vista boot menu with XP and Vista, defaulting to Vista. I m trying to think of how would be the easiest way to do this. Of course I d have to first disable GRUB somehow. Can I do this with EasyBCD? Then, reformat the Linux partition. Then, would it be best to unplug my Vista drive so I don t overwrite the Vista Boot Menu? I think I did that when installing XP so I wouldn t overwrite the Vista Boot Menu. Is the Windows 7 boot menu the same as the Vista boot menu? If so, it would make things a whole lot easier. Sorry if this is all a bit confusing. Thanks for any help you can give.

Windows 7 is my only OS right now and i have yet to complain about it. I switched a week ago and i just rolled the dice, hoping that it would be satisfactory. I can tell you that the Win7 boot menu, as most of its features, is exactly the same as that of WinVista.

I suggest you look into getting VMware.

My PSP isnt recognized as a USB mass storage device in Windows 7 beta? -

It is recognized in the quot;safely remove hardware menu and in devices and printers it shows up, but it isnt assigned a drive letter and it cant be explored? is there a driver or something i can download?

sony probably need to update the OS or something on the PSP to make it compatible. I wouldn t worry about it until windows 7 comes out of beta. Just use your normal OS until then.

What is Windows 7 and how do you get it? -

I already have Vista.

You can get Windows 7 through torrent sites. Just look at the comments of the people who downloaded it to make sure the torrent is not a virus or fake. Thats how i got my copy NOTE: Windows 7 is a little buggy and there is no way to activate it NOTE: Unless you have a really powerfull PC dont run Win 7 in a virtual machiene but rather partition your HDD and install on partition (Requires about 20gigs to install Win 7)

windows 7 is the new operating system that microsoft is going to release. You can not get it yet as it has not been release yet to the public. I hear there will be a beta version going to be released in a few months (no idea where through) and a full release to the public around summer or fall of 2009.

Windows 7 is the next windows after windows 6 (windows vista) it is still under development i believe and not available for downloading / purchasing.. you may have seen youtube videos showing windows 7 in progress.. most of these are fake. If you see any downloads on the internet for Windows 7 then it is most likely a virus. quot;quot;A small and select group of testers already have gotten their hands on Windows 7 builds. Microsoft has released two M (”milestone”) designated Windows 7 builds (M1 and M2), plus various interim updates, to select customers and partners who have been sworn to secrecy. And the Windows client team is in the midst of putting finishing touches on M3, I hear. But Beta 1? Currently it’s not in the cards for Microsoft to release this code to testers until a week before Christmas, according to folks claiming to be privvy to Microsoft’s Windows 7 schedule.quot;quot; (http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=1582... I think the Beta release is scheduled to around mid-december hope this helps

Windows 7 is the official name of the next operating system in the Windows series (after Vista). There is no public beta at the moment, so you can not obtain it legally. I think a beta may be coming out soon though.

Windows 7 is Microsoft s new operating system, that comes after Windows Vista. You can t get it yet, because it is still in development by Microsoft.

well you cannot get windows 7 just yet as they are still quot;makingquot; it. though some reviews are pretty good, try looking at www.pcpro.co.uk for details on what it is and some functions it has. its pretty snazzy.

It is the successor to Vista. There is no Beta yet but should come early 2009 with the full version coming around late 2009/2010.

Why cant i install programs on windows 7 beta? -

i have tried to install several applications like crysis, fallout 3, and adobe illustrator on my very capable pc with the windows 7 beta on it. whenever they try to install it comes up with a message that says quot;windows installer has stopped workingquot; please help!

That would be because it is the BETA version which means it is the TEST version which means that some aspects may NOT be guaranteed to work such as 3rd party applications.

Hey Taylor- Here is a list of threads from Microsoft’s TechNet Forum for Windows 7. Poke around and see if you can find an answer. After reading through a few it looks like you will have to dive into the registry to fix the problem. Be sure you are comfortable doing so before altering anything in the registry. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Sear... Best, Jeff Windows Outreach Team

Windows 7 beta is still not fully launched and software u getting are only compatible till Vista version so there is no chance software getting installed on this version its like pluging in 3pin plug into 2pin socket

Why would you run those games on Windows 7 BETA?

Multi-touch Windows 7 laptop question? -

I currently have Windows Vista Ultimate - Dell Inspiron 1520. Will I be able to just add hardware to my laptop to make my screen multi-touch if I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out or do I have to purchase a new laptop if I decide to upgrade? Thanks.

Yes, if you want touch screen. They have a specially designed screen for that.

well right NOW windows 7 does support touch, but NOT multi-touch, they are saying it will when the final version is out

Will they be offering windows 7 upgrades for vista? -

We have vista basic but I changed the processor to a duel core and put more ram in and it can now run premium with bells on but this is the crunch I will not upgrade through Packard bell as they want £86 I would rather buy a new oem package and start it as a new install

Hi, i am using windows 7 at the moment..it`s ok but i still unsure if i will be using windows 7 in the future, And when it comes to upgrades take your pick there are several to choose from.Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Enterprise, and Windows 7 Ultimate. Windows 7 Home Basic will also be sold, but only to emerging markets. Each one a little bit more expensive than the previous.

WINDOWS 7 is available for BETA tests and is available for everyone becuase I use XP and MAC and I am using windows 7 at the moment. Microsoft will probably make upgrades becuase people were so discussded with vista..

Windows 7 is on beta trials. Its available for download for Vista users only. Look on the Microsoft website, I m sure its around somewhere.

Can someone help me with dual-booting Windows 7 and Vista? -

I have already partitioned 20gbs for windows 7 and downloaded it. I burned it to a DVD and I start it, go to advanced instillation, and I choose to install to drive W (my partitioned drive). I did it, but after it copies and extracts all the files it has to restart. It does this, but then I get some kind of error message before windows starts that the drive is messed up. If i press enter twice I can get past this, then I get to the dual-boot screen and I have two options, Windows Setup (or something like that) and Windows Vista Home Premium. I click Windows Vista Home Premium and it tells me that the instillation of the new operating system did not work and it is reverting back to the old one. My computer still works, but it does not start the install back up, so I have to start over. I have tried just starting up the instillation again and it does the same exact thing as the first time. Help! Thank you.

Is this on the same hard drive? Just for the record, I d never put a beta on the same drive as another OS that you need. And what seems to be happening is that your Windows 7 is not installing properly and then it seems to be messing up the MBR of the drive. This is when Vista returns it to normal by changing it back to the default MBR when Vista was installed.

What is the best configuration of windows xp IE 7 for online college students? -

What is the best configuration of windows xp IE 7 for online college students attending a university when doing educational tasks, there should be a few pages for best configuration of browser and best configuration of software and research databases and external hardware like peripheral components and accessories where the lists are compared by price and time to accomplish the same levels of academic progress, as well as the assessments of parents or other friends ability to support degree completion as communications teams which moves the permanent compassion of their religion into the most effective transmission of prosperity without harm or lack of honor to the community at large. This should consider all students with disabilities and people whom are on social security disability which could benefit the worlds life patterns by answering questions online or writing documents which can actively coach and assist injured life remotely and take note and report all corruption to the...?

I m having trouble with IE7 and accessing my courses as well. Call tech support. You re going all James Joyce on me with the rest of the question.

Unistall it and use Mozilla. IE7 is the the buggiest, most spyware ridden piece of junk Microsoft ever laid on the user. Ever wonder why Microsoft bought into Linux? Because Open Source Software is reliable and stable. Did Linux sell out, no, Nuvell SuSE sold out, but Linux just released a new Kernal tghat blocks the garbage Microsoft was wanting to use as spyware. Now Linux has a Firewall to keep Microsoft out. its crazy.

I have to reinstall all my software if I upgrade to Windows 7, right? -

I m on the fence with installing the Windows 7 beta, and I m just making sure that I m going to be prepared if I do decide. So I would have to reinstall all of my software, correct? (PS: If anyone is using it, a recommendation of whether I should install it would be appreciated :D )

I recommend that you set up a dual-boot configuration. That way, you can choose the operating system that you boot into (Windows 7 versus whatever you have now). You will need to reinstall all of your software within Windows 7, unless you perform the in-place upgrade. However, I do not recommend the in-place upgrade, because you will need to reinstall everything from scratch in August when the beta expires.

I m using it on a secondary PC, just to test it. I think it s really great, to be honest. If you install the W7 Beta, yes, you will have to install all of your software again. W7 doesn t come with it installed; it doesn t know what software you ve already been using.

From what I ve heard 7 isn t that great, so going to all that trouble of reinstalling software doesn t seem like it s worth it.

How can i keep windows 7 for free? -

You can t. It s beta and will cease to work on 8-1-2009.

You can t. It deactivates in August and will be useless after that. You won t be able to get updates or anything for it. So, just buy the full version when it comes out in 2010.

It s already free - until August. Then you ve got to pay if you want to keep it. No other option.

Is the beta version of Windows 7 any good? -

Windows Vista is horrible and I hear that Windows 7 may be better. I am just a little reluctant to download it to try it out.

So fsr so good. For me it is about he same as VISTA. I have no complaints with VISTA and none with W7 either. Both are fine systems. Just remember it is a beta and not to be used as a permenant OS because it is prone to crashes an won t work after July 1st....or Aug 1st depending on who you beleive.

I am running Windows 7 Beta right now. I have never used Vista before nor have I ever seen it. I understand from using the beta Win7 that it is very much like Vista but has been supposedly streamlined to be more efficient so as to load faster and not be a resource hog. Now I have been using Win-XP Media center edition on my Dell XPS M170 Laptop for the past 3 yrs. Well that is the laptop I have installed Windows 7 Beta on, and it runs as good as XP if not better. So far I have been using it for 1 wk and there is some software that came with my laptop (proprietary) that I had some trouble with at first, but I am now running all software on Windows 7 as I was on XP. And the best thing is, I can still play COD2.

Hello SoCal Attorney- My name is Jeff and I work alongside the Windows Outreach Team. It seems that you need a little help deciding whether or not to go ahead and give Windows 7 Beta a try. Because I do not know your experience level with computers, let me make a few suggestions for reading material to check out. After you look at these pages you should have a good idea if the Windows 7 Beta is right for you. The first is the Win7 Beta FAQ page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... (Internet Cop, your latter date is correct. The Beta stops working Aug. 1) The second is the Installation Instruction page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... And the last is Gizmodo’s coverage of Windows 7 Beta: http://i.gizmodo.com/5136781/gizmodos-co... Cheers! Jeff Windows Outreach Team

windows vista WAS horrible, now that it has sp1 and some other updates it is better (if you have enough ram) i have the beta and i love it. but if you really want to try it out, just d/l the iso and virtualpc, and run it in virtual pc.

Yes it really good and takes up less resources than vista if you want to download it put it on a computer you don t use as much but beware this is a beta version there can be issues

Who gets a free upgrade to Windows 7? -

I heard that if you purchased a PC with Vista after July 2008, then you are eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7...... can anyone verify?

Read: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2009/01/07/...

I don t think it s written in stone yet, but; Users will be eligible for the Windows 7 Upgrade Program only in the context in which they will purchase an OEM-machine preloaded with Windows Vista during the Program Eligibility Period, which starts July 1, 2009, and will last through TBD (To Be Determined). Only individual customers and small businesses acquiring Windows Vista-machines after July 1, 2009, will be able to benefit from the program, but not medium, large, and enterprise customers.

Free upgrades are a possibility but as yet not confirmed, however it seems as though discounted upgrades will be available http://www.computerworld.com/action/arti... LUG.

Why should i get windows 7 if my vista works fine? -

whats better with windows 7 beta

The simple answer is you shouldn t- especially if you don t have experience with a beta. If you re happy with Vista there really isn t any reason to upgrade. I know I m happy with Vista, and unless Microsoft offers me a good deal to Upgrade to Windows 7, I m not going to do so. And Tiger, just FYI, SP1 for Vista was released almost a year ago. And the whole W7=Vista crap got old- a LONG time ago.

Hi sldrjr, I’m Ron. I work with the Windows Outreach Team. I just wanted to take a minute and drop some information here that might help you with your situation. Like was mentioned before, Windows 7 is in Beta testing form as of right now. That means it isn’t meant to be a permanent replacement for your existing OS in its current form. The current build is being tested until Aug. 1, 2009, at which time it will deactivate and users will be able to return to their previous OS or install the released version of Windows 7 (given that it is ready for market). If you’re interested in taking part in the Beta, I’d suggest visiting http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... first to get an idea of what Windows 7 has to offer. From there you can navigate to download and get install information. Hope this gives a little insight into your situation. Cheers, Ron Windows Outreach Team

windows 7beta ends 8-1-2009 then you will have to go back to vista yes windows7beta is faster than vista but it is still being tested i like it as well as vista and i have it on a dual boot with vista

Don t install any Microsoft software until after service pack 2 is released. Windows 7 is actually SP1 for Vista. Don t touch it.

you shouldn t get the beta if you have no experience beta testing beta = still in testing not a complete os

Any One Know Where I Can Get Windows 7 For FREE!? -

i would like to know if i can get windows 7 somewhere for free?

You can download it from microsoft website www.microsoft.com/windows7

http://lifehacker.com/5128193/how-to-get... You can get the download straight from MS, but I ve heard from many places that it can be slow, and for me it stopped after a few hundred megs. If I were you I d just torrent the ISO. Make sure you get the right product key for the version you re getting. [32 bit or 64 bit]

Most Torrent sites have copies for download with a crack The Pirate bay is a start http://thepiratebay.org/search/windows%2...

Do i need to turn off the cookie setting if i want to download and install windows 7 beta? -

If you don t know if you need to turn off cookies to download a file you shouldn t be sacrificing your computer to the beta gods. While Windows 7 appears stable, it is BETA for a reason. If it was totally stable it d be Release Candidate. Don t wipe your primary machine to try it out. And btw, no you don t have to disable cookies.

Well I have just downloaded it and there was no issue with cookies. I use the default settings for cookies.

quot;7quot; downlaoded fine for me...took a while...you do have to burn the iso file to a DVD...hope you know that.

How can I unistall winows ie 7 in windows vista? -

It came already installed so its not in the add/remove. Is there any other way of unistalling it??

Download the browser of your choice and use that versus IE. Internet Explorer is bundled into the operating system and it s not recommended for removal. You ll need IE for obtaining Microsoft updates.

try going to add/remove programs but i don t recommend removing window 7 from vista.

No. As it is part of the system, removing it will stop any browsing.

Can Windows 7 Build 6519 Milestone be installed over Windows XP with SP3???? -

Since almost nothing is known about Windows 7 yet, I can t say for sure. But if you can create a separate partition on your hard disk and then dual boot, that would probably be the way to go.

Pc supports for n78 in windows 7 . ? -

guys i am using nokia n78 . and in ma pc i am using windows 7 . but the problem is that . the pc suit i have does not supports windows 7 . but as love my windows 7 . how to get a pc supports.

If you really want to use Nokia PC suite in Windows 7, you can install it like normal. After you install the PC suite, right-click on the PC suite icon, select properties, select compatibility tab, and select compatibility for Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista. Actually, it is better to have dual boot computer with Windows Vista or maybe Triple boot with Vista and XP (like me) :D

Windows 7 Compatibility ? -

I am considering downloading Windows 7 but I really don t want to deal with compatibility issues. I use Adobe CS4 every day practically and many other non-Microsoft programs and would they work with Windows 7?

I would just stick with what OS you have now. Because the windows 7 that is available for download only lasts for a few months, and then you have to reinstall your old OS. It s not worth it.

If you re looking for something permanent, wait until the full version of 7 comes out. It is currently just a beta.

Windows 7 linksys wmp110 drivers? -

The CD doesn t work and I cant find any via google.

Since Windows7 is in quot;betaquot;, keep in mind that there ARE bugs that will need to be addressed. I would advise microsoft of the problem. MAYBE they will get it fixed before release. AND/OR contact linksys also.

You probably will not as Window 7 beta was recently released and the full version of the OS is not due until Q3.

Running AutoCAD, CS4 and Rhino on Windows 7? -

Hey Everyone Forgetting about vista for a second, has anyone out there tried running AutoCAD, Rhino or any of the CS4 programs on the Beta releases of Windows 7? Thanks and Happy New Year!

I doubt it, i m thinking subsequent versions of all application software will have to be modified in order to run on Windows 7.

instead use progecad the real autocad alternative available at http://progecad.in which is really affordable and i am very happy with it, the sales service is also very good.

In what ways is windows 7 better than windows vista? -

It is pretty much the same thing...just another product from microsoft in my opinion.

The interface is pretty much the same, if you notice. I would say that Windows 7 is an optimized version of Vista. Vista has been rushed into the market by MS. Many complained that the requirements for running Vista are very high, so MS had basically optimized Vista in this edition. Lower requirements and better performance. It would obviously contain security updates, fixes, latest versions of windows products(ie,wmp) etc.

I ve been using it for a couple weeks now, so here s my formal review: Installation: Much quicker of a process than previous operating systems. Days of the all day excursion of upgrading to Windows 98 are far gone. The process was extremely simple and did not leave any complicated options for novice users. Only took one reboot after installation and I was up and running. GUI: (graphic user interface) The interface is rather similar to Vista, with a few more twangs. It s a little easier to manipulate windows, but is rather identical to Vista. Driver Issues: In past, I ve always had issues with drivers upon a fresh installation of an OS. This time was much different. Windows 7 detected the usual hassles like a video card and found the proper driver automatically. Everything, including my old printer loaded up fine and hassle free. Observed Glitches: I keep getting this funky issue with the start menu going into a 16 color scale and clearing up upon restart. Conclusion: All-in-all, I think it will prove itself to be a very stable, low resource, operating system that will sustain for years to come. Especially with up and coming direct-x 10 gaming and 64-bit processing.

1) The taskbar at the bottom of your screen is what you use to switch between the applications you ve got open. In Windows 7 you can set the order in which the icons appear and they ll stay put. They re easier to see, too. Click once on the new large icons or bigger preview thumbnails and you re ready to go. You can even see a full screen preview before switching to the window. 2)With Windows 7, we focused on keeping the things you use most right in front of you. One example: The new Jump List feature. It s a handy way to quickly reach the files you ve been working with. To see the files you ve used recently, just right click on the icon on your taskbar. So right-clicking on the Word icon will show your most recent Word documents. Plus, if there are other files you want to keep handy, you can just pin them to the Jump List. 3)One of the great things about PCs is how they let us use such a wide array of devices. In the past, you had to use several different screens to manage different types of devices. But With Windows 7, you ll use a single Devices and Printers screen to connect, manage, and use whatever printers, phones, and other devices you have on-hand. 4) Windows 7 simplifies how you work with the windows on your desktop. You ll have more intuitive ways to open, close, resize, and arrange them. You can drag open windows to screen borders, so you ll no longer have to click on tiny objects in the corner of a window to make it do what you want. Maximize a window by dragging its border to the top of the screen, and return the window to its original size by dragging it away from the top of the screen. Drag the bottom border of a window to expand it vertically. It s easy to copy files or compare the contents of two windows by dragging the windows to opposite sides of the screen. As your cursor touches the edge, the window will resize to fill that half of the screen. To see all your desktop gadgets, just drag your mouse to the lower right corner of your desktop. That ll make all the open Windows transparent—making your desktop, and the gadgets on it, immediately visible. Want to minimize all your windows? One click and it s done. 5) Nobody likes to wait. So we ve focused on the basics that can impact the speed of your PC. Windows 7 starts up, shuts down, resumes from standby, and responds faster. You ll have fewer interruptions and can recover more quickly from problems when they do occur because Windows 7 will help you fix them when you want. 6) With Windows 7, you start with a clean desktop and get to decide how it looks. We provide the templates, or themes, and you can choose the color or format, including whether you d like to enjoy a slideshow for your desktop background. New theme packages include rich backgrounds, 16 glass colors, sound schemes, and screensavers. You can download new themes and create your own to share with friends and family. There are plenty of choices to make it yours. 7) Many of you asked us to stop Windows from sending so many alerts and messages and to give you more control over messages. In Windows 7, you get to choose the messages you want to see. Even if you don t change a thing, you ll still see fewer notifications and icons popping up because the Action Center consolidates alerts from 10 Windows features, including Security Center and Windows Defender. Rather than popping up with a message in the lower right of your screen, if Windows 7 needs your attention, you ll see an Action Center icon and can find out more by clicking it. If you don t have time to look at the alert immediately, Action Center will keep the information waiting for you to address later.

Hi truly_swati17, I’m Ron, a member of the Windows outreach team. I thought I’d throw out a sort of condensed version of the new features and update that are in Windows 7 right now (in its Beta version). The biggest improvements Beta testers are noticing are changes in load times for the OS and other application compute speeds (from what I’ve seen). Besides that, though, there are new features like an improved taskbar, improved device management, and the new HomeGroup networking tool. These are new and haven’t really been seen before. For more info on these, head over here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... That page has explanations of the new and updated features of Windows 7. Hope this helps out. Cheers, Ron Windows Outreach Team

What is the future for Vista once Windows 7 is released? -

Are Microsoft embarrassed by Vista as they were with Windows ME although that may be a little OTT. Will Microsoft try and kill off Vista ASAP or will it have the staying power of XP (unlikely I would have thought) LUG.

Microsoft has already announce that if you buy a computer with Vista July 2009 or after you can get a free upgrade to windows 7. I think they well keep it around for a while, but not long. Its not really that vista was that bad, just started off on the wrong foot and couldn t overcome it. With all the hype now with Windows 7 Microsoft doesn t want to turn it this down, just roll with it.

Windows 7 is vista kernel which is nothing new only a new eye candy face lift, To build a new kernel from scratch takes years to accomplish and my thought on 7 is it will be the last operating system ms turn out, How can you say 7 is stable? don t put the cart before the horse, How many of you testing Windows 7 have downloaded programs and installed and worked them under 7, I have downloaded some that are having computability problems, With the speed and advancement of the Linux kernel, MS don t stand a chance, even now Linux as left windows 7 years behind, With windows 7 beta there is no 3D graphics desktop like the cube in Linux. The only reason Windows 7 is now on full beta public release is so the ms can get all the drivers and systems setup right, with all the automatic feed back. Once 7 is stable it will be by by XPand Vista then people will be forced to upgrade at a high price to 7 like they where with Vista. or move over to free Linux which I think most will have done by then anyway.

No, I think they will still have Vista around for awhile. Not as long as XP though. XP is just a superb OS that came at just the right time that everyone needed something new. Vista was something new that quot;EVERYONEquot; (Yes, everyone!) was crazy about when they first heard about it. However, once it was first used, it was immediately disliked. However, over the years, a lot of bugs, security flaws, and it s stability has been fixed.(Mine is more stable then XP right now!) Right now, I run the Vista Basic version. And that s good enough for me. At first, like everyone else, I wanted Vista gone! It was horrible! But now, I ve come to like it after actually using it. I would say that I like it about as much as I do XP. But to say that it s so bad that they d try to sweep it under the carpet? No, I don t think they will. It will hang around for awhile after the final release of Windows 7. But I don t think it will be as long as XP was around for. (Heck, People still love XP after what? 8-9 years? So I think Vista will be around for atleast a few more years after the release of Windows 7. Maybe 3-4 Years...)

I guess it will not be sold on new PCs once W7 arrives - but there will still be millions of PCs running it that don t upgrade to W7 - so they will remain committed to producing service packs and continued support for Vista for many years.

Vista will disappear. And I know that everyone who have original Vista Ultimate edition, will receive a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.

vista was not an embarrasement. Vista had fewer problems and updates than XP. Windows 7 is just an updated vista with the cool new features that vista did not have time to release.

I agree with marvin here he has a good point since alot of people ar afraid to change to linux what makes them stuck with whatever microsoft gives them .

Dim. It will disappear.

Windows 7 Ethernet driver P5Q PRO? -

I have installed the windows 7 and can t go in to the network (Cable btw). I have P5Q PRO motherboard, so i wondered if i could get a vista driver or what should i do?

I also am running Windows 7 on an Asus board, P5Q3 Delux. Generic drivers from windows loaded fine, then I used the drivers included with the board and they updated fine ( Drivers were for vista ). Not sure if you have already done it or not, but check in the device manager to see if your network adapter is in good working order. ( For Win 7 Click on the start button gt; right click on quot;Computer, quot; gt; Left Click on Properties gt; Device Manager will be on the top of the right pane. BTW For anyone else, I would recommend Win 7 to everyone. Beta is a free download, you burn it to a dvd, pop it in the computer, restart, and it does the rest, and despite some concerns with driver issues, In my opinion, Win 7 Beta has better driver support then vista. The only major (if you will) issue I have found is that google chrome does not YET work with Win 7 in its original form.

Try the Vista driver. If that doesn t work you re SOL. Do realize that W7 isn t supported yet as it s still BETA.

Windows 7 beta is it better to have then vista ? -

would it be worth me replacing vista with windows 7 beta , is it better to have then vista?

Windows 7 is definitely better than windows Vista..That s why microsoft releasing it so soon. They told they won t release the next os until 2011 when they release windows Vista. But windows Vista was not successful.Yes many computer users use that. But if they have ever use XP they will tell that the XP is much better than Vista.. I think windows 7 will be much better than Vista. At least it won t give those stupid massages asking permissions for everything

It would help if people remembered that beta means test or trial. Eventually that trial period will end. Unless you have signed up to test the beta7, I d stay away from it. The trial will end sometime next summer, so unless you can go back to what you had before you started this experiment, it would certainly be best to leave it alone.

I m using it right now, its hardly buggy, I have yet to have a problem, although unless you have an Activation Code it ll expire after 30 days, and if you do manage to get an Activation Code it ll expire in June or July, If forget which. Windows 7 PreBeta is already faster than Vista with Sp1, on overal performance and start up times.

Don t use beta s unless it is public betas, pre-betas are known to have bugs and errors. Plus many people complain about drivers in windows 7 and not being able to use certain hardware. I recommend you staying with vista until a better build of windows 7 is made.

Since it is unfinished, buggy software which isn t available to the general public yet - no, absolutely not.

Which do you think would be better Mac OS X Snow Leopard or Windows 7? -

Jon, I like your thought process. True, Windows with all of it s flaws (and believe me there are a few), is still the most market worthy OS. I say Windows 7, and here is why: Apple is doing the same thing that IBM did three decades ago and it nearly cost them their entire market share. Although proprietary software/hardware configurations provide a high degree of security and stability, providing the manufacturer with a good lock on return business and maintenance revenue, it still remains very costly to the end user. Although Microsoft the OS are not completely open source like Linux, it still allows after market manufacturers access to the core, keeping the market competitive, and making computing affordable to the average Joe. Mind you, I still never upgrade my OS to the latest version until it is completely out of BETA, however I hold firm to the belief that the Microsoft OS is the strongest thing going. Vista was a marketing nightmare as it was released onto the public a bit too soon, and did not allow the peripheral manufacturers time to get up to speed prior to its release, but I think it was and still is a very good OS. Microsoft learned from this and has made several corrections. Proprietary manufacturing and marketing is only for the elitists and very well-to-do. It is tantamount to business suicide when you look at the market as a whole. Therefore, I stand on my belief that the new Microsoft product and future products will be the best thing going for a long time to come. I still have faith that Bill Gates and his crew will provide the public with the best overall product for the majority of the population. It all comes down to money. If only 10-15% of the market buys your product, and you are forced to outspend the competition in advertizing by a factor of 3:1 just to stay in the game, it is a bad thing. If you find my figures hard to swollow, just turn on the TV and count the MAC commercials vs. PC. Microsoft doesn t need a huge marketing budget at this point, it s well established and the supergeeks who write the code most likely still show up to work in bluejeans and T-shirts when they can. The links below all shout praises about how superior Mac OS is over Microsoft, and they all predict that Apple will be King of the market very soon, but these claims have been announced repeatedly for the last 25 years. I am still waiting for the Apple prophecy to prove itself. You would think that after all those years Apples marketshare would have at least topped 25%. I rest my case. Microsoft rules the roost, at least for now.

A difficult question to answer because windows 7 beta is out but it is just a beta. Snow leopard beta isn t out. I will upgrade my Macbook Pro to snow leopard and i will most likely install Windows 7 on it too providing that it is a good OS so far Windows 7 beta has proven to be quite an experience an happy with it but hoping the finished product is just as good. Snow Leopard will be awesome too it cant deviate too much from OSX its just going to be a few enhancements in my opinion and i hear it is 64bit capable.

Since Apple still charge so much for their products and neglected to update key hardware (Mac Mini for example), I see it hard for them to promote Snow Leopard outside of the Mac community. Windows 7 is easily obtainable, and most people in these times would think with their wallet. $700 PC or $1500 Mac? That s the real question. If they opened OSX up, it d be great, but then it d probably mean the end for Apple s hardware business.

Will Microsoft offer Vista-users a discount for buying Windows 7? -

quot; Now, plenty of people online are reacting to Windows 7 by muttering: Oh, great. So I’m supposed to pay another $150 to get a version of Windows that actually works? How about you pay me for spending three years as your Vista beta-tester? quot; (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/22/techno... Yes, I do think we should get some sort of monetary compensation or discount 1-2 years from now when Windows 7 goes on sale. What do you think the chances are of that happening?

Probably not, Microsoft is greedy. They screwed up so badly and is going to make every vista user out there buy themself windows 7. It s actually a brillant strategy. Make vista so shitty they will buy out next windows so fast it ll be amazing.

IDK, my skool uses windows vista

Why doesnt Windows Vista or Windows 7 come with decent accessibility software? -

I m using this question as a means to vent my frustration. Windows Vista/7 are supposedly to be revolutionary Operating Systems. They re supposed to make life easy. I ve been using a Mac for 5 years now because it has a useful screen zooming application bundled with their accessibility features (known as Universal Access). Did Microsoft forget about the disabled users out there? They re still shipping with the Magnifying Glass from Windows 95! Does Apple have a patent on screen zooming or something? Even Linux (Compiz/Beryl) supports zooming the screen while retaining quality. It does bi-cubic scaling/resizing (with assistance from the video card s GPU) rather than blow up the pixels. What annoys me the most is everyone bashes Vista for generic and often misunderstood reasons such as it s slow, or uses up all your memory (it does this for good reason). Yet noone seems to give a rats **** about accessibility features. If you do not know what I m ranting on about, please see: OSX Zoom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IxoHlpmw... I couldnt find a video of the magnifying glass, but I can understand why noone would want to demonstrate it. It s horrible.

No one but a select few people currently have the chance to play around with windows 7, so we cannot say much about what windows 7 has or does not have. I dont work for Microsoft as a developer for their operating systems so i cannot tell you, but in this day in age i cant believe MS does not have proper accessibility software. There is nothing revolutionary about Vista .

Windows 7 has not been released yet. Why don t you make suggestions to Microsoft?

Cannot start xp after installing windows 7? -

my pc has 2 partition and windows xp exist one of them. And i installed windows 7 on the other partition, but i cannot start the pc with windows xp. windows 7 starts well and i can see the files on partition that xp installed but how will i run my pc with windows xp?

When you installed Windows 7, it modified the boot sector so that the computer will look for an operating system on the 2nd partition. There are 2 ways you can go: 1) You can install a boot loader program which will pop up a menu and allow you to select which partition to boot from. Free programs that you can try are GRUB, LILO, GAG, and MRBOOTER (do an Internet search on them.) 2) Windows itself has multi-boot capability. You need to edit a text file in the root directory of your partition. http://oreilly.com/pub/h/591 OR You can also access boot options by right clicking on the My Computer icon on the desktop and click on Properties. Then click the Advanced tab and click on the Settings button regarding Startup and Recovery. (I don t know anything about Windows 7, but hopefully the boot option editing in XP is the same for Windows 7. If Windows 7 has a different method of setting the boot options, then you ll have to look through all the Windows 7 setting menus/windows to see if there are any boot-related options available or try doing an internet search on multiboot windows 7 )

Is Windows 7 beta lightweight? -

I m thinking about installing it on my laptop, but am worried that it s going to be slower than Vista. Does it run smoother and quicker than Vista?

Definitely. I am running a 69xx build with the new taskbar enabled, and on my laptop, it feels great. Granted, I really liked Vista, just as much as XP, and more so than OSX, but I now hate booting into it on the same machine. This feels like how the replacement to XP should have felt. As long as you have the hard drive (the only high requirement - something like 20GB total, with like 10 going to OS), you should have no issues.

yes it is faster than vista but looks a lot like vista which is good so people won t have problems learning all over again it is beta and still has problems if you install it do it on a different partition gt;dual boot http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...

I ll also be trying it soon. Supposedly, Windows 7 will cut down on a lot of the bloatware and run pretty quickly, even if you don t have tons of RAM or a screaming processor.

I d expect it to be about the same as Vista, but I haven t tried it personally. I can t afford to put a self-destructive OS on my main computer.

it does run way smoother than vista but you need atleast 1 gig of ram and dont install it on your main comp as your main os because it expires august 1st

it could work but i like vista beater

Im trying Windows 7, do you think itll run on this pc? -

I m trying Windows 7 Beta. It has similar requirments to Vista. I want to run it on this pc: Intel Celeron 668 Mhz processor 768 MB RAM (not shared with graphics card) 30+ GB HDD Older ATI Xpert 128 Dedicated graphics card I think it has a VIA motherboard, It was a very good pc when it came out (1999/2000). I have a better pc but don t want to touch it. Will it work? Has anybody ran it on a pc with similar specs? I don t care about it being slow as long as it ll run.

Minimum recommended specs call for: *1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor 1 GB of system memory 16 GB of available disk space Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (to enable the Aero theme) *DVD-R/W Drive Internet access (to download the Beta and get updates) I recommend you don t install windows 7 on your computer, also it might now even install on your computer because your system is too low to even run it.

Looking at your specs. it would indicate that performance of Windows Vista and Windows 7 would be very poor. Windows XP would most likely run quite well. If you were to install Windows 7 on that PC, performance would be so impaired you would not be getting an accurate impression of the the system. LUG.

Just don t download it at all please.... Dont I did and 10 minutes later yep you guessed it ... CRASH

7 is supposed to run on Netbooks, so it may be a bit slow on a 668MHz CPU, but it should run.

The public windows 7 beta came out today! I can t find it! Will some one please post a link to it! So I can download it! Thanks!!!

Many thanks to MakingComputers.Net the links are official. LUG.

ok, first off it s ran out, window s only allowed 2.5million download it. also (don t be offended) you probably shouldn t get it anyway, 1. no documentation comes with it so if you cant fix it your self then your stuffed. 2. you need to know how to reinstall your os after using it as all betas run out on the 1st of aug, even if it s not connected to the internet. hope this helped you understand

Where can I get drivers for windows 7? -

I need a driver for my GF 9800 graphics card and I tried going windows updater and it said i was up to date what should I do?

Basically you just need to find Vista drivers for windows 7, but I don t think they always work. At least that s been my experience so far. You should have never installed Windows 7 without first researching the drivers that u would need. What s funny is I have a 3yr old laptop that I installed Win7 beta on and when I went to MS update it found updated drivers for my video card, also 3+ yrs old. lol

i heard a lot of your drivers are already compatable with 7. so if you already have it installed then it should work. you can go to the geforce nvidia site and find the driver and update from the site. i dont think there is a special driver for 7. think you can use the vista one. heard that not sure how true it is. or xp might work too. some things can work with either. my computer most of the drives works with xp or vista just like games. the only things that dont work is like my face recognition because only vista offers that for my computer. but most games even if older then vista will run with vista too without doing a update for them. i have many games that work fine. and the update or patch i have for them work too and were not put out for vista. there was nothing special that ihad to get to make them run on vista. if it is not working right though you might have a onboard card that you would have to disable in order for your geforce to work. my old desktop when i first got the geforce card it would not work and it was xp. i had to disable the built in card first and then it worked fine. i updated to vista ad in doing so it turned on my built in card. so i had to just disable it again. after that it worked fine. windows 7 is supposed to be more like xp. not use as much of your ram and all like vista does. people had issues with vista mostly because of not having the ram for it. when vista came out 1 gig of ram was great to have at the time. now 2 gigs is min and 4 gigs is good to have. they even hve 8 gigs now. but most people had 1 gig and so it cause alot of issues. also new you have bugs. even games have issues that they have to send a patch to fix as they come up. i would have waited tell 7 was out a little longer and most of the bugs get fixed and patches or updates are made to run your drivers with it for those that need it.

From what i understand Vista drivers are the same for Windows 7. I have a beta copy of 7 and i wouldn t trust putting anything much on it. It s not even close to being ready for prime time yet.

should have never downloaded windows 7, the drivers for your graphic cards do not exist to work within windows 7 properly. people should have learned this from Vista.

I have windows XP and want to upgrade just from the computer, if anyone understands that haha? -

besides Vista, though, I heard it s going really slow and not worth the upgrade. Something about Windows 7 maybe ?

Windows 7 is not due out until the fall of 2010. Stick with XP

There really is no upgrade from XP yet. The next version (7) of Windows will be out maybe next year and you can try that if you like. Vista is blessed by some users and cursed by others but I believe it s just the user at fault and not the Operating System. XP is the easily the best version of Windows to date and Vista may be even better when they get it patched, which they are doing. I love XP and will wait to see what 7 does before I change. I can t understand why peeps gripe about XP since I ve had nothing but good experience with it.

Just keep XP but check for updates, clean out all your Temp files do regular, defrags, remove software you don t use, clean out all old e-mails etc and your machine will run happy as Larry, only upgrade if you need it. Vista is no big deal, got it and XP. However if you go to Vista site there you can do a compatabillity check to see if your machine is good enuff, it said mine was but it was not, so take care, after I bought Vista I then had to get a new Vid card, costing more than Vista. Regards DM

Windows XP is superior to Vista in speed and versatility. There is no need or reason to upgrade. (Unless you like wasting money and running slow.)

I want to upgrade my windows vista to windows 7. after it expires how can i downgrade back to vista? -

I want to try out windows 7 without losing any of my programs and saved files.

Hey Tyler- My name is Jeff and I work with the Windows Outreach Team. One way to get the Windows 7 Beta is to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 Beta. If you go this route, be sure to back up all your files. When the beta expires on Aug. 1, you will need to reinstall Windows Vista with your Vista disc. Your other option as PhonicUK pointed out is to dual boot with a clean installation. Microsoft recommends this method. Here is a link to the Installation instructions and FAQ page. I would take a look at these before downloading and installing the Windows 7 Beta. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... Best, Jeff Windows Outreach Team

You need to install it on a separate partition or on a separate physical disk. If you do an in-place upgrade, then you may not then downgrade back to Vista.

How come my copy of Windows 7 Beta says it expires in July when Microsoft says its August? -

On my Windows 7 Beta, it says the copy expires July 1, 2009 at 6:59 PM. However, on the Microsoft site, it says that it expires on August 1, 2009. Does anyone know why theres a conflict here? I ve also looked at many screenshots of it and they also have July.

I believe on July 1st, you enter a 30-day trial period, so it completely stops working on August 1st.

you just need a code for it and the expiration date will be stopped! this one works 6JKV2-QPB8H-RQ893-FW7TM-PBJ7... Report Abuse

microsoft doesn t even know how many days a leap year has and you are assuming they know the order of the months on the calendar?

I just upgraded windows to windows 7 and I hate the format. Is there any way to go back? -

I lost the shortcut to outlook express and the toolbar is too confusing.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP Click quot;Start, quot; and then click quot;Control Panel.quot; Click quot;Add or Remove Programs.quot; Check quot;Show Updatesquot; at the top of the dialog box. Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click quot;Change/Remove.quot; Uninstall that, restart your PC and you are on IE6

Simply go to add/remove programs in control panel, and click remove internet explorer 7 in the list. You will need to reboot your computer before you can use IE6 again,

which one is 7 agains??

Since IE6 is a Windows program, it cannot be uninstalled no matter how hard you try. But IE7 can be uninstalled. Go to: 1) Click Start 2)Click quot;Add or Remove Programsquot; 3) Find Windows Internet Explorer 7 (way at the bottom) 4) Select it and click uninstall 5) The setup will prompt you that if any of the software depends on IE7, don t uninstall (if the software will do okay with IE6, this notice doesn t matter) 6) Follow the wizard and restart your computer 7) Wallah! IE6

If you want to go back , just UN install it you get IE6 back.if you want the bar do the followings: click on tools at the right side of the bar go down to menu bar put a check on it. now you can see File,Edit,View,Favorites, Tools,Help. now about E-mail: do the following: Tool s, go down to toolbars go down to customize when the menu open add the mail icon from the left menu to the right menu then move it up up up all the way. Good luck Adnan Sallam Napa, California

MUAHAHHAHAHA!!!!

Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click quot;Change/Remove.quot; (If you are running Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview — March 20 or later, it is not necessary to check quot;Show Updates.quot;)

Go to Cnet.com (downloads). They will have the older versions and they are a very reputable site.

Crazy thought there... but maybe you should try Firefox. I know change is bad and all but Firefox is the way to go!

Before you go back you may want to try this menu bar tweak. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/ie7menutopt...

I think you mean Internet Explorer 7 - You can go to http://www.oldversion.com to download version 6 again

Why don t people try to get used to IE7? I think it s WAY better then IE6

Windows 7 Boot Problem? -

When I start windows 7, it starts to load a black screen come up, and its doesn t do anything after that. It starting happening after I updated windows yesterday.

Hence why it is in Beta. The problem is there is no support for this because it is not even out yet. Tell Microsoft and re-install the OS. My GoD?!? Regards, Dane

I had similar issues with Build 6801 but I ve not had the same problem with Builds 6956 amp; 7000 BETA. My solution with Build 6801 was to allow Windows to install updates on the initial Boot, for example sound drivers etc. There should be no more than 4 updates. Upon reboot once the updates have been installed, turn Windows Update OFF. As I say this happened with Build 6801 and it should be remembered that Windows 7 is BETA. LUG.

Is an apple iPod 3rd Gen compatible with Windows Vista, and iTunes 7 and up? -

I m thinking about getting an iPod 3rd Gen. Does it work with iTunes 7, and windows vista?

Well I m not sure about the 3rd Gen iPod, so I will not comment on that... but what I do know is that I have seen a lot of people post comment on yahoo answers claiming that iTunes is now compatible with vista. It s not entirely true, I have Vista Ultimate and have tried numerous times (and numerous ways) to install iTunes on my computer. The apple website states that iTunes 7 is compatible with 32-bit versions of Vista. Unfortunetly Vista Ultimate is a 64-bit edition (I m not sure, but I believe that Vista Home Basic is the only 32-bit version of Vista). There is an option in the Vista OS that lets you set compatibility options, such as setting a program in compatibility mode with Windows XP (if it s a program that you know that will work with XP) but doing so has not helped with me getting iTunes to work. After messing with Vista a bit, I finally got iTunes to install, and now I am able to open it but It doesn t recognized my iPod when I plug it in. My final thought is, If you are thinking of upgrading to Vista and wish to continue using your iPod, install Vista as a dual boot option with XP (so that when you start up your computer it gives you the option to choose which OS you wish to load), or just stick with XP. I m sure that either Apple or Microsoft will find a fix for the issue, or that Apple might release a 64-bit version of iTunes. But for the moment, there isn t a fix.

Why not? To my knowledge iTunes has always been backward compatible.

Will Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 be available for Windows 2000 Professional? -

When I tried to download Internet 7 for my Windows 2000 Professional O/S, I did not meet the requirments from Microsoft. Will there be a version compatiable with W2K released by Microsoft?

No, sorry. http://news.com.com/Windows+2000+users+t... From the article: quot;It should be no surprise that we do not plan on releasing IE 7 for Windows 2000. One reason is where we are in the Windows 2000 lifecycle. Another is that some of the security work in IE 7 relies on operating system functionality in XP SP2 that is non-trivial to port back to Windows 2000,quot; according to the blog posting.

How does windows 7 run ? -

I have to know is windows seven as much or a pig as vista is when it comes to ram ? Cause i have a dell desktop with 3 gb of ram and it`s a dual core model and the lowest i ever managed to get my ram usage was 35% is this good or bad ? I really want to know before i consider upgrading is the new version of windows as demanding on your system as vista is.

It seems to be much less than demanding. It is very peppy and it hasn t crashed once. It s beta and expires 8-01-2009 so I would advise a dual boot with a final version of Windows (XP or Vista).

Windows 7 has not yet been released. What has been released as a quot;betaquot; (or not yet complete) version of the program intended for testing, so it is impossible to state what the final version will be like. But it does appear the Microsoft is going to abandon the quot;protected modequot; used for most applications under Vista that was the major memory hog.

I have the beta ver installed on my 3yr old laptop and it seems at least as fast as XP if not faster. I mean it seems to NOT be a RAM hog at all. And best of all I can still play my COD2 game online.

How can I revert back to Vista if I install the Windows 7 Beta? -

I downloaded the newly released Windows 7 beta and I want to try it, but I want to make sure I can revert back to Vista easily, maybe by installing it on a disc.

Hello Johnny D- Jeff here with the Windows Outreach Team. You have two options- 1. Dual Boot Windows 7 alongside Vista. 2. Upgrade Vista to Windows 7. If you chose the latter, you will need to reinstall Vista once the Beta expires on Aug. 1. This is done be using your Vista installation disc. Check out ---gt; http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... This page describes the difference between a clean installation and upgrade installation as well as instructions for both. How should i go about downgrading from Windows 7 Beta to Windows Vista? -

I have a unique situation, i have an HP laptop which came with Windows Vista, but i went to Windows 7 a month ago and i am now looking to go back to Vista. I tried doing so through the provided HP recovery console but the complication is that my CD reader/writer is no longer functioning due to a driver mistake in the Windows 7 build. I have backed up all of the files i care about and am looking to go to a clean slate, or factory state. I have a Vista Re-Installation DVD but it is useless to me because of my CD drive. I am looking for any ideas on how to go about recovering my laptop to a factory state, or anwhere i can get a working driver for my CD drive on a Win7 build 6801.

boot off the windows cd. the windows driver has no effect on boot up. reinstall it then.

the only thing i can suggest is formatting it so you have fresh install of vista. Really you shouldn t of put 7 onto your main drive. Before you format though make sure you make a backup of all the files you want to keep as you will loose everything in the format. Hope that helps :)

Ipod touch doesnt work with windows 7? -

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Windows 7 isn t supported by the iPod touch. There s no way to fix it, by my knowledge. I downgraded back to Vista because my 1g and 2g touches wouldn t work. Sorry..

I don t know how to fix this but try sending feedback to Microsoft on this issue. Try to just plug it in and see if it will work. If the storage shows up on the My Computer screen I would open I-tunes and see if you can fix it there, if not I don t know what to do.

The fix is simple. Wait for the live release of Windows 7 to come out. The current release is a beta. It s not fully functional.

it should all you need is itunes

What is and how good is microsoft windows xp-7 viena? -

can anyone tell me something

Here are 2 decent articles about Windows 7 http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/200... http://www.techradar.com/news/software/o...

you must mean windows 7 and that is still being tested, it is not available to the public yet. with all the bad press about vista we can only assume it will be a more user friendly OS like XP. windows 7 is just a beta name and microsoft will rename this OS when it is ready for the market

Windows Xp and Windows 7 are two different OS s and Win 7 is not out yet to know anything about it.

Google it am sure Wikipedia knows something

How can I restore internet explorer 7 on Windows Vista? -

I upgraded to Internet Explorer 8 and HATE it! I can’t seem to get back to version 7. I tried to take it out of the C drive but it won’t let me. Does anyone have any idea how I can restore explorer 7? Thank you in advance! OH, I am running on Windows Vista Home Premium

IE7 is part of the OS which means in order to restore it, you have to restore the whole OS. system restore and recovery should restore IE7.(of course if you pick the time before you install IE8) reinstalling vista is also a option but since we re talking about IE8. go to control panel, then go to programs and features, then go to uninstall program, look for IE8 and uninstall it. then you should get IE7 back. hope this helps in a way

If I download amp; Install Windows 7 will I update or clean install later for when the full release comes? -

I recommend a fresh installation. Recently I tried an upgrade from Build 6801 to Build 6956 and hit all kinds of hurdles. LUG. save_me_jeebus99 Your opinion does not matter to me one iota, however I would greatly appreciate it if you were to edit your answer taking out the quote as me being a criminal Also that fact that I have been testing Builds of Windows 7 has nothing to do with the fact I am an avid supporter of Linux. Microsoft only have themselves to blame for allowing the Builds to be so widely available and in fact do not seem to be that phased by it. LUG.

Wow? quot;Testingquot; builds of Windows 7? quot;Widely available?quot; Could you tell me where I can get some of the drugs you re on? They sound fun! Piracy of beta software is not testing. Piracy is illegal. That makes you a criminal. If you don t want to be branded a criminal, don t break the law. Report Abuse

It s only testing if you report back on bugs you find. Something tells me you are neither qualified to be a software tester, nor have the guts to let Microsoft know that you ve pirated their software. So what, you want MS to take down every Torrent site? Piracy is their own fault? Hilarious! Report Abuse

You should clean install it, as it is a different build compared to the current beta.

Windows 7 question file carry over question? -

so if i install the beta as an upgrade to my current vista laptop then all my files get deleted? Or do they stay and i have to either back them up before august, or purchase the actual OS CD.

Back up your files before you perform the upgrade! I hope this post is made in time before you went along with the upgrade installation. When you perform an upgrade installation, your files are written over and you will need to reload the files from your back-up disc along with Vista once the Windows 7 Beta expires on Aug. 1, 2009. Your other option (if you have enough disk space) is to perform a clean installation. This option will allow you to dual boot Windows 7 alongside Vista. Once the Beta expires, you will then need to wipe out the Windows 7 partition and go back to using Vista. Here is a tutorial to walk you through this method. http://lifehacker.com/5126781/how-to-dua... Cheers, Jeff Windows Outreach Team

Upgrading to windows 7 in the future? -

When windows 7 comes out, do you suppose it would be easier for an upgrade from window XP or windows Vista? I was worried about compatibility with drivers or anything else.

from xp. Vista is basically a beta of 7. other say it not going to happen because it like going from 95 to xp. But that wrong because it was 95 {A,B,C} then 98 then 98se then millenimun then 2000 then xp. That 4 in between {or 6 if u count the way 95 was done}. For xp to 7 it would be only one {vista}. Most of the tech mag and even bill{gate} said 7 is the way they wanted vista to be

Why to worry so early?. We are still trying to figure out how to upgrade from XP to Vista, but, as far as I know, Microsoft is trying to eliminate totally XP, so, probably Windows 7 will be more compatible with Vista. Nobody knows, because Microsoft don t say anything about the new OS, the only they said is the new OS will use keyboard and mouse at minimal, instead, all the new OS will be touch screen based. We ll see by the end of 2009, meanwhile, don t worry about it. F.

Well, the way Microsoft runs things, they may not allow an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. It would kind of be like trying to upgrade Windows 95 to Windows XP. Microsoft said nope, we don t want to let users do that. It all depends on how Microsoft decides to handle their Upgrade Policy.

Since nobody really knows what Windows 7 is gonna be like we can t answer the question, I m guessing Vista cause that s what the milestones are built from but it really depends more on what your computer is made of, not what s installed on it

What will the Windows 7 Milestone desktop interface look like? -

I would say almost identical to Vista, but under the hood it should be very different. LUg.

You heard it here 1st. It will not be a desktop like Xp. Or Vista for that matter. Look for it to be task orientated. Touch screen capability, and hand holding all the way.

Here s a screenshot of it: http://b.imagehost.org/0079/win7.jpg Quite similar in style to Vista at the moment, but i suppose visual customisation is one of the later things they need to work on.

I was reading an article last month and seen some pix but cant find the link: so far they re still deciding how the look it going to be. from what Ive read, it should resemble somewhat like XP and Vista.

Hopefully as interesting as your avatar :)

possibly like xp black edition?

ask the tech dept.

How is it possible that Windows 7 BETA is more stable than Vista on its final release? -

I have extensively tested it and cannot find any faults, AWESOME ! What has your experience been like so far. Input please. LUG.

Well at the core, Windows 7 really is an improved Vista. It s different enough to where I don t think it could have been done with a simple service pack, but they are pretty similar. But this is a good thing, it s completely compatible with Vista programs and even drivers. The biggest problems Vista had when it was released were with drivers and compatibility. Companies had to write new drivers and update some of their software since Vista was a lot different than XP. A lot of the drivers were really buggy and caused all kinds of problems. But since 7 is so similar to Vista and companies won t have to rewrite drivers or software, I don t think it will have any of these problems It s much faster than Vista, the interface is much improved, some features have been added, some things have been updated (The new mspaint is awesome), but they are still pretty similar at the core. Even though it s only in BETA, I d use 7 over XP or Vista anyday

The bottom line is ms employed Linux programmers it was them that put their in put into windows 7, after some found out things they quit their jobs. MS know they have a job on their hands competing with Linux, beside some of the stuff in 7 has got to come out because of copyright, ms is copying some of the ideas from Mac, but the main problem is ms will force 7 on everybody like they have with vista, whether it is stable or not, When one follows the progress and changes that goes into Linux kernel, MS will never be able to keep up to the fast changes Linux is making every month to their kernel, which is a sorry state for MS, by the time 7 comes out it will be out dated and superseded once more with Linux Open Source Software.

My Experience with 7 has been brilliant so far, i personally love the superbar as for why it is more stable than vista, is the fact that they have learned from vista and also, i remember from the vista betas, they were stable, the microsoft tried to add too much new stuff to vista without extensive testing. the other thing with vista was the fact that there was meant to be lots of things that were meant to be in it but didnt appear in the vista final version

The bottom line is this: Vista was created to satisfy the hardware monkey on Gates s back -- it was sold in the business press as hey, it s gonna force everybody to upgrade hardware and be great for the OEMs. Windows 7 is a response to the design philosphy which produced OLPC and netbooks -- in other words they are literally and finally trying to face UNIX/GNU Linux directly rather than through their quot;Get the FUDquot; campaigns. While I m not as charitable as Stephen Vaughan Nichols, they don t do a lot of things wrong. That desktop is still -- to me -- a nerd s attempt to copy Apple s consistently hard-edged interface designs without the real understanding of design disciplines which makes Cupertino products so beautiful even when you don t want to like them. At least with X-Windows everything is DIY enough so I don t have to bother with it (my current wallpaper is from JPL.nasa.gov). But Vista was created for the latest and greatest hardware. Windows 7 is for the hardware that is out there. That s what is different about it. They HAVE lots of money. Occasionally they don t waste it.

Slacker and Platt both have excellent responses to this. I am not so sure that I m ready to let MS off the hook yet. There is STILL a window ( pun....) where they can drop the ball. Not that anybody is watching this coming rollout. Just PLEASE don t let it be the disaster Vista was. Vista, (I admit at last...) is a fine system, considering a lot of potential was thrown out with the bathwater! Window users deserve something that can wean em off of Xp- Now if they will only upgrade those 1.6 Celerons....

@ LUG: You said quot;jtc883 Windows 7 is nothing like Vista being an entirely different operating system.quot; well it s really not. A glorified vista fix with server tools and a multitouch IO trap. And a fancy new boot animation.

It s because they learned from Vista. FYI, I still love Vista and think it s a great OS. Windows 7 is just going to be another leap forward :)

Simple Windows 7 is basically Vista with all the fixes and tweaks that should have been there since the begining of Vista

It is possible that Windows 7 is more stable and safer then any os.

I don t know, but they have outdone themselves.

Windows 7, i need to install the 180.84 vista drivers but they arent compatible, how to override it? -

Any help at all is appreciated.

there is no override lol there is either a compatible driver or their isn t. if their isn t one then you need to get something new.

if they are not compatible they will not work

Which is the more stable one? windows vista? or the upcoming windows 7? ? -

I m a little confused what to choose... is it windows vista? or windows 7? and what are the strength and their weakness? thanks for who will reply... ^_^

Hello; Call me cynical ... but what if the only reason to release a new operating system is to make more money? Perhaps the release of new software has nothing to do with technical capabilities and everything to do with making money for Microsoft stockholders?? Rather like every year the car companies have new models of cars ... not always because they have real improvements, but because the marketing department tells them to. I think that releasing a new version might be needed now, but what about all the versions that were not needed (MS Windows ME for instance) XP might have been an essential upgrade, but Vista might have been just a scam make a few bucks! I finally gave up on the whole process ... I went to Linux! Ubuntu has a new release every two years (it is scheduled so there are no surprises) ... it is a free down load with updates as needed. The older versions are supported I think for 3 years from release date (I am not too sure about that though). In response to your question: My guess is that making an operating more stable has to do with how much memory is being used. MS Windows version whatever will always be more stable than the previous version -- but it will take more memory and speed too. On a different track -- How much better is MS Office Suite 2007 than MS Office Suite 2003. There are real differences, but is it pound for pound a better product? Down with the Microsoft hegemony! Bill

Well Windows 7 isn t available yet. A beta will be released next month and as with all betas there will be bugs that need to be sorted out before the final release. The beta does promise however to give many performance, battery life, user interface and feature improvements along with a completely redesigned taskbar.

Honestly, who knows? I think they ll both be very unstable -gt; Microsoft is bringing out their operating systems too fast. They need to take time and make a stable, well working OS. I wouldn t mind waiting a year or two for that. In the meantime, I ll stick with my Mac XD

Can t say as of now because Windows 7 is still in preBETA stage. Both are good..But,Windows 7 is super fast than Vista..I have used test buildd..

How to log into the csico clean access agent in windows 7 6956? ? -

Is a 4.7 Windows expierience base score good for COD 4? -

I have a base windows experience score of 4.7. Gaming graphics is 5.3, processor is 4.7, RAM is 4.8, and Hard Drive is 5.9 which is the highest. Could i play Call of Duty 4 decently?? Like medium settings with like 60fps?

COD 4 should run fine on medium settings with that vista score.

What is the best software for writing to CD? I have a Dell with 2 disk drives, windows ME, and use Corel 7.? -

I need to save Corel images, Are there any free downloads available online? Who are the best software manufactures for saving graphic images?

I like Roxio Easy CD Creator. When you have more files that will fit on one CD, it will automatically span to a 2nd or more CD and tell you first. Free download, I don t think so. You might try Nero CD burner lite. I believe that is FREE

nero

Consider upgrading to Windows XP. It has a built in burner, however, it can only burn 1gb by default (for dvd s). It does great for cd s. The other options are: * Easy CD Creator (comes with cd/dvd, however for dvd videos you will have to purchase an upgrade, consider MYDVD, now owned by Roxio, previously Sonic) *Nero *Try download.com for some demo s

Windows has a built in cd writing wizard, I use it when saving pictures to disk. Does a fine job for reg. pictures, I don t use Corel so don t know about saving those files but it could be worth trying.

Nero Express or Roxio

Are you wanting to know how to burn a CD? If this is the case simply download windows media player and the answer is there. With 2 drives simply place the dick you wish to burn and then a rewritable disk in the other,in theory, this should copy the disk. Ensure this is LEGAL and you are not pirating disks!!! Why in this age btw are you running Windows ME. It was a notoriously bad product and surprised you have on a DELL PC ..YPager was the main error and also deleting cookies and temporary internet files was tiresome......if i can assist..Email me at skyrocket_uk2003@yahoo.com All the best

Ahead Nero is the best software for CD writing.

Nero

I know many of the people will suggest NERO but it is a damn sickening software which will overburn your CD s as well as your pocket and ur *** . Go in for Express Burn * The best it is FREE and is just about 235 kb . Burn Audio CDs or Data CDs Free Express Burn is a program for Windows that lets you create and record audio CDs, data CDs or data DVDs using any Windows PC with an installed CD and/or DVD recorder. With Express Burn you can record a data or audio CD/DVD quickly and easily by dragging the files you want onto the Express Burn icon and clicking record. The software then does the rest, including converting the files if required. Express Burn is also the fastest CD/DVD writing program in the world using proprietary optimizing systems. If I install Windows 7 beta, will all my stuff be moved? -

Like, will it be moved a a folder called quot;Old Filesquot; or something? Or will it all stay at the same places?

I recommend the Dual Booting with Vista http://windowsaddict.blogspot.com/2009/0... When you download Windows 7 from the official source an activation key will be issued with your download which will take you through to August 1st. 2009 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... LUG.

Good Evening- My name is Jeff and I work with the Windows Outreach Team. Have you looked at the Windows 7 FAQ page or the installation instructions before? Here are the links in case that you have not viewed these pages. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... Lastly, here are some words of warning from MS- Don’t install the Beta if you’re uncomfortable troubleshooting your own PC problems. Microsoft does not provide technical support for the Windows 7 Beta. Don’t install the Beta on your primary home or work computer. Microsoft is not responsible for downtime stemming from the Windows 7 Beta. Best, Jeff Windows Outreach Team

If you install as quot;upgradequot; all your existing files will be available in the new W7 system . If you do a clean install files will be lost. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows...

Windows 7 Beta Install Trouble? -

i ve tried installing the beta twice without success. After the first restart on my first install, the computer booted up into the install app, and moments later I got the BSoD. It rebooted and restored my Windows Vista. On my second attempt it got to the first restart, and right after booting up the install app, a message popped up saying the install failed. What is wrong and should I still try installing?

Questions like this go to your beta newsgroup.

Need to uninstall windows 7? -

I installed windows 7 as the only os and now I need to uninstall it, do I buy an upgrade version of windows xp or the full version? I dont have a backup and hp dosen t have one for my model (slimline s7700y) Thanks!

Hi bluelink12@sbcglobal.net, My name is Ron. I’m a member of the Windows Outreach Team. Just saw your question and thought I’d pop in and try to help out a bit. First, I’d suggest that you try and find your original OS discs (that’d be the easiest fix). If you can’t locate the original discs you can purchase a new version of either Vista or XP. Note: Microsoft stopped shipping XP on June 30, 2008. That doesn’t mean they aren’t out there, they are just considerably harder to find, so Vista is your best bet and also has the most up-to-date suite of tools. What’s the make and model of your printer? I might be able to point you toward some driver information. Hope this helped a bit. Cheers, Ron Windows Outreach Team

you can t buy xp anymore. microsoft attempted to shove vista on everybody and discontinued it. you can take your chance with a used copy, i have seen some people selling those on craigslist. good luck, you can also try ubuntu, its a great os with a very appealing desktop if you have a decent videocard.

Best bet is to buy a fresh copy of WIndows XP. Just a tip. Next time, use a program like VMware. Virtual machine software lets you run the operating system while still inside the main os. It is your best bet on playing around with different operating systems, especially the ones in beta like WIndows 7.

you did not follow instructions you need a full version If Windows 7 is the only system it might be enough to simply format the hard drive and install a new operating system. It is always better to install a new operating system on a clean system. http://windows7news.com/2009/01/28/unins...

buy a retail full version of either xp or vista personally i prefer vista but if your comp doesn t have the right specs it is a waste of a good operating system.

What is the best way cover windows to block out light? -

I need to block out all light from 7 windows at night when Im working because my neighbors say it is disruptive to their sleep. I need something cheap and able to be removed easily so i dont have an eyesore all the time. Not much $$ to spend and im living in a rented house so I can t put holes in the walls to put up drapes or curtains.

black garbage bags and blue painter s tape to not pull off the paint

Buy blackout window covers. They are a quot;vinylquot; window covering that can be rolled up and down. The can also be hidden really well when rolled up with a valence.

When I have worked late nights and have needed to sleep in the daytime, I use clothespins to temporarily hang blankets onto the curtain rods to block out the light

Disruptive to quot;theirquot; sleep? If your work is noisy, that s one thing! They need to get ther own blinds! Damn peeping Tom neighbours! Daylight is disruptive to shift workers too! I believe they have to solve their own problem! Good luck!

You could duck-tape aluminum foil in the windows.... also saves on AC expenses.

Aluminum foil is easy to use (be sure and have the shiny side face in your room, flat side out). People here in California use it all the time to block the bright, hot, sunlight out of their room. It will completely darken your room and it mold easily to the corners. Just use good tape to keep it up.

Buy some black fabric and tape it to the walls.I m sure it will work.Hope that helps!

I rent a room out from this lady and before i lived with her i had no idea u could do this. Im not sure if u want to do this but they make window tints for household windows and it actually works. If u want it for night time people can see in but u cant see out of ur windows. If u want it for the day time u cant see in ur house from the outside, but u can see outside from the inside. If this makes sense lol.

I bought some very heavy black plastic to put over my bedroom windows. There are also black window shades available. Why are your neighbors making this demand on you? Can t they put up their own shades?

You have the right to use your unit as you see fit. The neighbors should hang blankets over their windows or purchase black out curtains
