I have a unique situation, i have an HP laptop which came with Windows Vista, but i went to Windows 7 a month ago and i am now looking to go back to Vista. I tried doing so through the provided HP recovery console but the complication is that my CD reader/writer is no longer functioning due to a driver mistake in the Windows 7 build. I have backed up all of the files i care about and am looking to go to a clean slate, or factory state. I have a Vista Re-Installation DVD but it is useless to me because of my CD drive. I am looking for any ideas on how to go about recovering my laptop to a factory state, or anwhere i can get a working driver for my CD drive on a Win7 build 6801.
boot off the windows cd. the windows driver has no effect on boot up. reinstall it then.
the only thing i can suggest is formatting it so you have fresh install of vista. Really you shouldn t of put 7 onto your main drive. Before you format though make sure you make a backup of all the files you want to keep as you will loose everything in the format. Hope that helps :)
