Would he wait be worth it on upgrading to windows 7 instead of vista ultimate in Australia the following PC? -

HP pavilion dv5-1004ax, AMD Turion (tm) X2 Duel- core mobile RM- 70 2.00GHZ, 4GB RAM upgraded on Tuesday, graphics 256megabyte dedicated, ATI Radeon HD 3450- resolution 1280 x 800, 320GB hard drive- Would this notebook work good with windows 7 and would i loose everything and have to download all the drivers

the news is out since a couple days; it will be possible to upgrade DIRECTLY from XP to Windows / NT7 COMMERCIALY, thus, somehow, the install program of NT7 will look for an installed (amp; working?) copy of XP but will NOT upgrade the XP installation but reformatting the partition instead. and the customer will thus lose all his setups (programs amp; settings) and data, if any is on the C: / XP drive. XP will be supported (thus fixes and security patches but no new functionalities will be provided) until 2014. as a private user, you can live perfectly well with XP and don t need to worry about the hassle of reinstalling amp; all, certainly not to v!$t0.

If you upgrade to the Windows 7 trial, you are risking your entire system because it s set to expire after a few months, and there will be some dead time before the OS is ready to be shipped for retail. People are estimating that it will come out by the end of the year, and it s said to be a much better operating system compared to Vista. It just depends how you were to upgrade and if you can wait.

1st. There is nothing ultimate about any version of Windows especially Vista. 2nd. In the past decade Microsoft has never released widely welcoming operating system. 3rd. The only upgrade to windows will be features. They never take time to iron out bugs and work on cleaning up code. Their business strategy is dead. The only reason people keep buying PCs is because they are scared of change and worried the transition will not be easy. Even with moderate specs you have included the current or new operating system will not use your hardware effectively. Save the trouble and start looking at Apple. The feature you will use in Vista and Windows 7 have been out for years, just not on the windows platform. Even when they do come out the will not run smooth or as effectively as they will on a Mac. I use Pc s and a Macbook. My Dualcore is upstairs and has been off for the past month or so. My macbook has replaced my desktop and not for convince, but because I have started to hate windows when I got my new laptop. my little 13quot; screen is sucks compared to my dual 24 s on the pc, but one can only deal with the PC Bull@#$@ a short while after you relize why Apple keeps growing while Windows is always promising an experience that is not currently available for sale anywhere at any price.

Windows 7 is still in Beta-release, so it is not recommended to Upgrade to Windows 7 yet.... It would be in your best interest to stick with Vista (Yuck! lol), or in my humble opinion, downgrade to Windows XP... XP is actually better and more stable (Not to mention more compatible) than Vista. I digress, though.... Unless you want to Beta-test Windows 7, you may want to stay away from Windows 7 for another year or so and get a final release

Vista is crap.
