Should i update my windows XP to windows 7 beta? -

im on a toshiba windows XP around 3-4 years old. and i was wondering if i should download and install the windows 7 beta trial on the windows website. im asking because i dont know if it could delete my files, im working on backing it up on my 1T portable hard drive. but still i dont know if it will speed up or slow down my computer, considering its size. and if its really worth it. also how long will it take to download and install. i know the file is like 16 gig so downloading will probably take a while, but how long will installing it take. should i update?

I wouldn t recommend it, as mentioned previously it s a time limited beta. You re more than likely not going to get a performance increase, and some of your drivers / applications may not work at all. If you want to try it out check out the free for home users Virtual Machine solutions from VMWare and Sun (VirtualBox), don t know if they ll run it, I m running Windows7 in parallels on a Mac, seems to run fine for it s limitations and I haven t had to nuke a hard disk and go through the pain of a restore.

ABSOUTLY NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i did and i hate windows 7

1) The .iso is 3.5GB or thereabouts. I downloaded it the other day. 2) This is a beta product. It s valid until Aug 1st or something. Do not replace your only operating system, because if something goes wrong you have no way to recover without reinstalling. 3) Windows 7 is still slower than XP. Installing 7 won t speed it up at all. It s an improvement over Vista, but not over XP in terms of speed.
