No it will not allow you to go retro. You will have to format the drive and the hope you have a boot disk to do the install. Luck to ya

You ll have to either partition the drive and install it on another partition, or format the drive and install XP.

well if ur running the windows 7 Beta, most likely you already had vista or XP running on the machine before it. I dont think you bought a machine sans OS just to put a beta on it. but yea, you can either install xp from windows 7 or boot to your XP install disc (tougher but faster)
