if you have your restore disk then your ok to try 7
From what I ve heard Windows 7 its not going to be all that different from Vista the taskbar its one of the biggest changes along with a few other things. But as far as performance goes it doesn t seem to be that much different from Vista (so far at least). If you don t have a separate box to try it on don t bother if you re worried about messing up your computer its probably not worth it.
If you want to play with a beta O/S do it on a different Hard Drive than the one you are using now. Go out an purchase a 80 GB hard drive if you can find one that small. Down load Windows 7 ISO and burn it to a CD. Remove the hard drive you are currently using and put in the new one. Then install windows 7 from the CD. Then when you want to go back to your old O/S just put in the old hard drive.
Windows 7 has great ratings so far, and supposedly performs better then all other versions of Windows! Translation: Yes, Microsoft payed off the reviewers, just like with Windows Vista, to say it is great. Vista sent them south, and without Gates running the show, this is going to bring them south more. Stick with XP, eventually Microsoft will have to go all console and ditch the PC, then Linux will be your friend. In fact, if you aren t a hardcore halo gamer, you can switch to linux now if you like, I recommend Ubuntu. www.ubuntu.org.
