I don t see why not.
Yes. Microsoft always releases service packs as they fix the numerous bugs in their operating systems. Windows 7 won t be released for a while, though.
Yes, Microsoft will always give service packs to all the future releases of Windows.
To open the DOS prompt in XP: Hit the start button, then All Programs then Accessoriesgt;Command Prompt
you should be able to. to boot from a usb, you need to go into your computers bios by pressing F2 at startup and change the boot menu from the internal hard drive to the usb. but this is assuming you have the correct size flash drive. the min reqs for the Windows 7 beta is 16 gigs hard drive space. you can view all of the reqs here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalc... you can download it from this site as well. one thing you might want to try is getting a program for a virtual computer. it will let you run and install windows 7 on it, with out disrupting your current comp. just my 2 cents
Linux, Windows 7 or other operating systems can be installed on a USB hard drive and you can boot from the removable drive if your computer s bios will allow you to set it as the boot drive... Some older motherboards, do not offer this option to boot from removable media (USB Hard Drive or Memory stick)... I would have a look in your Motherboard manual, that could be downloaded from the manufactures website. If you do not know the manufacture of your motherboard, then download a copy of quot;CPUzquot; a small software utility that will give you the information... APC has a good dual boot tutorial that you might be able to use for a software solution. http://apcmag.com/the_definitive_dualboo...
Hello Nothing, you can turn any USB into a Windows7 boot installer. There is a really good guide with instructions on how to do so, found at this link: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2009/01/14/... . Take a look there and if that doesn’t help, feel free to visit the Microsoft TechNet forums and post over there, you are likely to get a better answer to your questions. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Foru... Rick, Windows Outreach Team
i think you should be able to try this program usb multiboot 10 http://www.msfn.org/board/Downloading-US... i used this to do what your explaining but with windows xp it should work with windows 7 here is the tutorial i used for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vt_8p0Vl...
I don t see why not. Just change it in your BIOS to boot from your USB first and you should be good to go. I ve always been skeptical of it though for the fact of USB speeds.....but I may be wrong.
Not that I know of, but I don t see why not, you can try though.
I don t think they will do this, but if they do, it will be in the EULA. Also, it will bite Microsoft back if they do this.
Utter rubbish. We all expect Microsoft to do funny things at times (They brought out Vista didn t they? Lol) but this is even beyond them.
No, that s stupid. It s just another better version of windows coming out in 2010.
You can use mounting software to mount the iso image of Windows 7. You can use MagicISO to do this, here s the link to the download: http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-m... and here s a link to a tutorial of how to mount images: http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-m... If you need any further help, contact me through my profile page!
If you have an older version of Internet Explorer use this link to update: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/product... It should automatically import all you files, so you don t have to save it on an external drive. IE 7 actually came out of Beta a while ago. It s IE 8 that s actually in Beta now...It should be fine to use...I use it.
Well its obvious that you dont know what your doing ANYTHING could go wrong Remember its still in Beta, this means it still has lots of bugs to fix It is NOT recommended to use Windows 7 as your primary os its for Beta testing
If you have the restore disks that came with your computer, you can use them to restore your computer to the exact way it was when you purchased it including Vista. WARNING: This process will delete any programs and files you have on your computer that you ve added since purchase.

You won t be able to use the OS again unless you activate it. If you don t have the Vista disk or product key then sorry for you..
After 30 days it will no longer let you log into your system and you will have to wipe your hard drive and install vista again.
After install of IE7 many systems still have a copy left of IE6 in: c:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\iexpl... Simply set up a shortcut to that, and you can run the old (R6) internet explorer without uninstalling the new (R7) internet explorer ... truncation! That s ...\i386\iexplore.exe
go to the control panel.click on quot;ADD and REMOVE Programsquot;Select The Program in which you want to remove,then click quot;removequot;.in some instances you may have to click quot;Changequot;
You can remove it from Control panel-Add remove programs.
No you won t. The beta version will be set to expire on a certain date and you must buy Windows 7 (or another OS) after that. Beta versions are free for testing. They do not give you the right to a free full version. (otherwise everyone would get it wouldn t they?)
Splendous. Increased performance, more features, etc. Definitely my favorite OS! I recommended it to my family + friends, they all love it instead of Vista. It s more user friendly for them.
first off vista is amazing with a fast computer, (like 2-3 gb ram and dual-quad core processor). and windows 7 is amazing with an average computer (1gb ram, fast single core processor). so basicaly yeah windows 7 is good.
Not as good as windows 6.9
All signs are it is much better than Vista. However, it is a beta and not all drivers are there. If you are not comfortable in resolving issues with drivers (finding correct versions, installing them, etc.) then I would highly recommend staying away from it. This is a bare environment right now - not ready for average users.
The system looks good!! But it is not stable. Do not forget it is a Beta version
Software- http://cynerge.net/
Windows 7 will not load on any computer of that spec. What is on the pendrive? Just the ISO file of the DVD? You cannot boot from that without first being able to mount the DVD image as a readable drive. And you can t do that without an OS on the target machine. You need to create the pendrive as a bootable media. Google is your friend for this.
Questions like this belong in your beta newsgroup.
what is wrong is that IE7 is a big mess.full of bugs so wait a couple months and then download it from Microsoft web site.
What you are trying to download is not Windows 7, but Internet Explorer 7 from the Yahoo site. This is a big problem, and my best advice to you is to stop trying. IE7 is really a mess, and will cause you and your computer no end of problems. Wait a few months and see if Microsoft gets the problems fixed before trying to use Internet Explorer 7, especially the one found on Yahoo!
IE 7 is a pain, use Opera instead or stick with IE 6 Oh and if you do decide you want IE7, get it from Microsoft s web site ... not a third party like Yahoo.
How did anyone already get that? a thought it was just trial released to people?
How did anyone already get that? a thought it was just trial released to people?
No it will not allow you to go retro. You will have to format the drive and the hope you have a boot disk to do the install. Luck to ya
You ll have to either partition the drive and install it on another partition, or format the drive and install XP.
haha... sure thing bill gates
well if ur running the windows 7 Beta, most likely you already had vista or XP running on the machine before it. I dont think you bought a machine sans OS just to put a beta on it. but yea, you can either install xp from windows 7 or boot to your XP install disc (tougher but faster)
There is a golden star to the left. Click that and see what happens :-)
Look in the upper left hand corner there sould be a little star there click there and it should pull up your favorites the Star Plus is for adding new favorites
in a nutshell, if you can run Vista, then you can run Windows 7 and it s FAST. i m running Beta right now.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... Minimum recommended specs call for: 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor 1 GB of system memory 16 GB of available disk space Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (to enable the Aero theme) DVD-R/W Drive Internet access (to download the Beta and get updates) And yes, like anything tech-related, these specs could change.
Before you launch IE, verify in the properties that it s not trying to open an unconnectable homepage. Also, try disabling the phishing filter. I m sure you ve already tried these...
IE is a weird browser, I have the same problem on windows xp. It takes a long time for it to load the web pages. I live in firefox and the best advice I can give you is to use firefox, it s faster, easier to use, and doesn t use up as many system resources as IE 7 does.
yes its ok and no it hasnt crashed yet using xp and vista systems
DirectX 11 is included in the Windows 7 Beta download and the size of Windows 7 Beta is around 3.2 gb. Jeff Windows Outreach Team
Hi there. Let me google that for you. =gt; http://tinyurl.com/c6534m lt;= It s size was 3.something GB if I remember correctly. I don t know if the download is still available though. You might be able to find a torrent. Hope that helped. ;)

if it prompts you to activate, either use telephone or internet (if possible) I personally use telephone, don t worry thought the operators can speak English well and are usually helpful.
If you re reinstalling a program that came with the computer, there is usually a sticker on the side that has the number you need. Other than that, I don t know. Good luck!
the minimum specs recommend 1GB of ram, and also i don t think your system can handle 64 bit especially with only 512mb of ram it might be the installer is quitting since you don t have the minimum specs
The minimum system requirement says, 1GB ram and 16GB Hard disk space. Did you meet these requirements?
you need * 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor * 1 GB of system memory * 16 GB of available disk space * Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (to enable the Aero theme) * DVD-R/W Drive * Internet access (to download the Beta and get updates) And yes, like anything tech-related, these specs could change.
Windows 7 is not like a update to Vista. It has many differences from vista. And it is faster thanVista..Coz the kernal of the os is different than Vista.. So it is much better if you install Windows 7..Never install Vista.. Latest beta version is build 7000.I m using it..
That depends on how much you re willing to spend. I m uncertain of what os I ll use on my builds from now on because XP is still quite expensive and I just don t think vista has what it takes. Windows 7 is expected to be...like vista but not vista, hopefully better, but they thought that about Vista too. It s up to you on waiting though, however keep in mind, the first few weeks an OS is out, is when the most problems with it occur.
I ve heard rumors that Windows 7 is Vista SP2, but I m not sure how true those rumors are. Nevertheless, it s never a good idea to wait on an uncertainty. Besides, I think Vista is an AWESOME operating system.
I ve used the Windows 7 beta 1 build 7000 and it seems to be a much improved version of Vista. With many interface improvements and speed optimizations. Basically, it s what Vista should have been
My friend has tried it (honestly. I dont know how, though.I think its the beta.) and he said its simply amazing. If I were you id wait. itll probably be worth it. Vista could have been much better.
When has MS ever delivered a truly good version of Windoze? Upgrade to XP! It s less bad!
No?
Use this code { // initialize 3D d3d_start(); d3d_set_hidden(true); d3d_set_lighting(false); d3d_set_culling(false); d3d_set_fog(true,c_black,10,300); } That will set more than just the 3-d, also lighting and fog ect. are added. But to just switch to 3-d use d3d_start();

well vista requires a min of 2gb RAM to run properly, so it should be around that or less. i ve heard they re trying to have the interface quot;built inquot; like on Macs, so it won t take up as much memory.
It s called Dual Boot . When you install Win 7, it will detect the existing OS and ask you where you want to put the new one. It will set up a menu that comes up at boot time so you can pick which one you want to use.
yes but its is only a hack direct x 9 is still the best for xp direct x 10 was designed for vista so its is buggy on xp
No You can only get DirectX 10 in Windows Vista Direct X 9.0c is perfectly fine though. You just won t get some of the Extra features (Shadowing, Lighting, and texture effects). I m personally holding out for Windows 7 myself.
I don t know, but what i DO know, is that you dont need dx10. 9c will do
I was in a similar situation when Vista came out. I got my laptop, loaded with Windows XP, but with a free OS replacement (not upgrade) to Vista (as part of a promotion). It was just a stripped down version of Vista, without the little extra software packages HP usually adds in to their OS installation disks. While HP makes little software tidbits compatible with your laptop hardware, it didn t come with my version of vista (provided by HP) -- Instead I just went to HP s website and downloaded all the drivers necessary to run my computer made for Vista. It may be different with Windows 7 though since many of the hardware drivers won t be radically changed like they were from XP to Vista. If you re really concerned, beef up on your Hindi and then work with the HP customer support :) (actually, although they re really hard to understand, they were VERY helpful with any problems I had, and anything that needed to be shipped, they did with overnight delivery free of charge)
Windows 7 is in beta right now - that means that you install it on a computer you can afford to lose. (If you re not an experienced beta tester, please don t beta test an operating system. It does no one any good, and causes you to cry on Yahoo answers when you find that you ve lost everything and have to go to the library to get on line.)
windows 7 is not out yet http://www.wikihow.com/Create-Recovery-D...
Hello XivTv- My name is Jeff and I work with the Windows Outreach Team. There are a number of possible reasons why you are unable to connect to the internet through IE. Because there are so many reasons, I do not have a definite answer to your problem, but I found a thread on Microsoft’s TechNet Forum for Windows 7 where this issue is discussed and several possible solutions are given. I hope you find one that works for you. Good luck and thanks for being a Beta tester. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Foru... Jeff Windows Outreach Team
They ll keep updating it for at least a year or two after vista is ended. Microsoft ended XP in June and they plan to keep updating it and offering support at least until windows 7 is released. Any other questions? go to PComputerhelp.com
Vista will still stay for quite some time. The same case is still happening with XP -- even after 2 years since Vista was released, Microsoft is still supporting it because a lot of schools + businesses still use it. In other related news, XP will stay till June 30 next year. Yay.
With each new release, the support times for the old release get longer and longer. Vista is good for at least the next 12 years, no worries. They will support XP until 2015, no matter what they say now...
Hi. Windows 7 is almost identical to Vista. You can upgrade easily but you will need a 64 bit system.
vista is here to stay for a couple of years atleast. and in my experience your laptop is more likely to go out of date before your OS will
From command prompt type bcdedit. you will be able to change the setting there
Whichever one is first in the list boots automatically if you don t touch anything. Dual boot screen remains for 15-20 seconds to allow you to choose but if you don t touch it, it will carry on by itself
You cant. you just have to simply pick 1.
You could try, but by the time it s done installing Windows 27 will be out (if it even lets you install). This reminds me of the guy who spent days installing Windows 98 on his PSP. It might work eventually, depending on your hardware, but if your looking for a practical way to use that computer try Xubuntu instead.
No problem. I m not sure buying more RAM would help with that processor, but it couldn t hurt. Report Abuse
You d barely run XP with 128MB RAM, let alone Win7. Since it s a beta, the official requirements are not finalised, but it s suggested the min reqs will be 1 GHz Intel Pentium III or compatible processor or better, 1 GB or more RAM, 10 GBs free disk space, an SVGA Plug and Play monitor
No - it will refuse to install. Moreso then the processor, you do not have the required amount of ram. You will need at least 1gb ram (and a 1ghz processor). Your video card is adequate.
Yes. You need a heavily cut-down version of Windows Vista for it t work. Head over to the source of my answer, and submit a question there, and they will be able to provide you with a link to a copy of Windows Vista that is shrunk that will work.
I wouldn t think so as the microsoft products tend to prevent installation when you try to do it on something that doesnt meet the requirements. You shouldn t even bother. I hope you are not even running XP on your machine.
I wouldn t try it.... Well, I would, but I think you would just be waisting your time, Windows 7 has a 1 Gig of RAM requirement. But if you do it and it works PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!
well,it need dvd,DDR ram 500. and 3 mega bytes of HDD
Get a cracked version of IE 7.
You cannot as the IE 7 installation software has the validation software build into it. and microsoft will not let you get it for free. Try firefox which is way better
dont think you can
If you have an ISO of windows 7 then boot up with that cd, and load from DVD and its gonna ask to choose partition.Choose and install. Everything you have on that partition will be gone tho.
If you want to save your documents you have 2 choices - shrink the Windows partition and move all your documents to the 19 gig partition you can make, or move all your documents to an external drive. If you install 7 as the only operating system you ll wipe out anything on the partition you install it to, and to dual-boot it with Vista, you need a larger drive.

You need to split that 120gb space, format it and install Windows 7 on it (and dual boot). Here s a nice tutorial that explains how to: http://lifehacker.com/5126781/how-to-dua...
move all Your files first it will erase every thing on the partition.if you have partitioning software like partition genuis you could create, resize to suit your needs
Hey, If you install Windows7 on the 120gb Parition, it will only FORMAT that partion. The other left over space will still be there so you can use it for another OS, or something like that Cheers, Calvin s Network Web Host
Due to the nature of the new Windows 7 OS, there are many new things being discovered in it. What you want to do is, when you see the list of drives being shown, there is an quot;Advancedquot; button below the partitions listed. Click this, there you should be able to manually setup your partitions. If this option is not available to you, download Gparted, a free open source ISO Image that allows you to boot from the disc to partition and handle your hard drive before installing Windows 7. The URL: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ Also, if you do not do the partitioning manually, Windows 7 will create a second partition 200MB in size that is designed as a recovery partition such as those that HP and others put on your system. If you manually create the partition yourself, Windows 7 will not create that second partition.

MS s line is generally if it work s on Vista it ll work on Vista. I personally havnet had any issues with any software, Office 07 included. Hardware is all running fine too, though I ve not done any gaming yet, i think the graphics driver doesn t currently support Win7. Make sure to partion your hard drive and do a clean install of Win7 to the new partion ( cos your shouldn t replace Vista with it as it s a time limited beta) Go to the link in the source for in-depth info on Win7, and the last link on the site show s you how to install Win7(I would suggest the quot;Get it off Pirate Bayquot; method, cos MS s server s are touchy atm, you only needthe CD key of MS)
I know Office 2007 works, you probably need to list specific programs here. As it s beta you can t guarentee much, be cautious of devices/drivers also. I d recommend you create a second partition and dual boot or install on a separate PC - e.g. not your primary system. http://myslowpc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.ph... lt;-- Windows 7 Info and Beta download link
you will not lose any data if when installing from your disc, you choose quot;Upgradequot; and not quot;Clean Installquot; Read the instructions: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... BTW I recently installed W7 beta and all my software ran OK including Office 2007. The Beta version is brilliant so dont be scared.
I d recommend ImTOO ISO Burner to you,It can burn ISO image file to your CD/DVD disc. It supports CD, DVD+-R/RW, and DVD+R DL. Besides ISO images, it also supports burn disc from other image files including BIN/CUE, IMG, MDF, NRG, CDI, B5i, B6i, DMG. So I recommend you this tool, you can see detail and free download it here: http://www.kooksoft.com/software/DVD-Vid... If you inserested in it, here is a step by step guide about how to use it http://www.kooksoft.com/software/DVD-Vid... I am using it. It is very cool. Hope it helps.
It is expected to be probably released towards the end of this year. Nothing definite. You might be wise to wait a while after that because if it is like Vista it will be full of glitches at first.
I m not quite sure Windows 7 will be a better OS. I am not expecting anything better than Vista+(not saying I m not looking forward to it). I can t find any specific dates but if you want to buy a new computer you could always do so now and just upgrade later. Microsofts says they are going to make Windows 7 compatable with all hardware Vista is so you should be okay. If you do not want to go through the hasle of upgrading then just wait. It is suppose to release at the end of this year or even early next year.
have vista its getting better and better and more programs work with it
Hi there Think back to when Xp and Vista were released. How many problems were there. Microsoft has a Habit of releasing programs and letting the public fine all the problems, then issuing service packs to fix them. my advise is, if you have a stable operating system stay with it.
Hello Bob J- My name is Jeff and I work with the Windows Outreach Team. Take a look at this link below and specifically the topic describing the risks associated with downloading Windows 7 Beta. It is not recommended that people use the Beta as their primary operating system. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... Cheers, Jeff Windows Outreach Team
You are asking for it if you do... Not to mention the beta will have a time limit.
No, wait until the full version comes out. This is just the beta.
NO.. just plain NO
Vista prove that 90% of users have learning disability and they had a panic attack when they saw a new interface.By making windows 7 the same ,there will be less suicide attempts!
Every few years or so a completely new looking operating system is brought out which not only looks different to the average user but is different in the way it works and its features in the background. Then every year they update that completely new looking system with subtle changes which the average user would not notice, only those who use their computers to the full and understand just what an operating system is and can do, just to keep up with updates, patches etc that have been brought out in the lifetime of the previous version. You will not get another completely different and innovative looking system for a few years yet.
It s not about the looks, it s about how it works. We could care less about how it looks now --most of use would just change the theme to quot;Windows Classicquot; (I bet 70% of us use that theme) and be done with it. Microsoft has actually listened to the Vista users groaning and complaining about how Vista is unusable etc, so Windows Seven will be built based from feedback from Vista users. MS knew that Vista was going to be a flop. The Windows Seven project (code named Vienna or Blackcomb) was started not long after the release of Vista, way back from 2007 (see Wikipedia). If you need any assurance, see http://gizmodo.com/5070219/giz-explains-...
That explorer seven is way too safe that it has become the slowest explorer in the world. I use the latest fire fox. It s great. fast and free.
Vista did not capture the market as XP did. It was a complete disaster. Most people shifted back to XP after trying out Vista.
It is the 7th Windows so they must of decided what it should look like now amp; change is slowing down with experience. Linux would be a good alternative amp; it is free.
So when all the morons downgrade from windows 7 to Vista ,it will be the same look!
Ive always liked vista far better than XP i cant see why people dont like it
You obviously have never actually been depressed
whats wrong with vista been better than xp ever was for me
You can be hopefull that windows will do what they did with vista and xp. What happened is anyone who purchased xp within a 2 month period of the official release of vista could fill out some paperwork -gt; send it to windows and they would then honer them for a free vista upgrade. It has been leeked that Bill Gates, and CEO Steve Ballmer have stated that they will not dissipoint anyone who purchased vista near the release of the new windows 7. (the actual quot;free windows 7quot; has not been surly decided) Good Luck
Just because you have used Beta version, MS doesn t give you any discounts on the final version. You might get an upgrade version from Vista at a discount. Better stick with your Vista till a final stable version of 7 is going to be available. You can try the Beta but after the evaluation period, then I would suggest a total wipeout and reinstall Vista.
Currently there isn t any information on the subject at all. Some people think Windows 7 might just be a quot;patchquot; on top of Vista or will be freely available to Vista owners. It might be a full, complete OS (even then, you could always get the quot;upgradequot; version with no problems)
Its def not going to be a patch. They MIGHT offer it at a discount, but you will PROBABLY have to pay.
WIndows 7 is Alpha/Beta. Things are not going to work right. Of course then again, they never will.
Good Evening Mr. Murphy- If you have not fixed your problem already, I suggest you post this question to Microsoft s TechNet site under the relevant forum. There are plenty of MS MVPs in these forums answering technical questions like yours. Here is the link to the site. Be sure to look around as well; your question may have already been posted and answered. Good luck! http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Foru... Jeff Windows Outreach Team
Windows 7 Realese Dates Windows 7 Build 6801=October 8, 2008 Windows 7 Build 6933=Realesd at PDC 2008 Leaked on torrents Windows 7 Beta 1 = mid-December 2008 or early 2009 Windows 7 Release Candidate =Availeble after Beta testing Windows 7 Final Build =January 2010
Expected release date is sometime in 2010. The goal is that it will be easy to upgrade from any Windows operating system (including Vista) to Windows 7.
I find a link, do no if it’s useful for you
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you can t switch back without reinstalling from scratch. You cannot uninstall an O/S once you ve made the move. Since what you have is the beta, which will expire this summer, you will be forced to buy it if you want to keep your PC running. If Vista came preinstalled I would expect that the original install software is on your PC, probably in a c:\i386 folder. Look around or search for setup.exe to see if you can find a hit. Good luck.
If you did a clean installation of WIndows 7--that is, you booted up from the DVD and formatted the hard drive--then there is unfortunately nothing you can do without the Vista disk. You can try contacting Microsoft or the computer manufacturer to obtain a Windows Vista disk, but other than that, you re out of luck unless you purchase a new copy. If, however, you upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 by inserting the disk from within Windows Vista and going through the upgrade installation, you can SEE if going into Add/Remove Programs will allow you to uninstall Windows 7 and revert back to your previous configuration. Be warned that I have not been able to find anything on-line which confirms whether even this is possible, and so there may be absolutely nothing you can do without a Windows Vista disk. Since Windows 7 is beta software, I unfortunately have not found very much information on how you can remove it and downgrade back to Vista, even if you performed an upgrade installation. I hope this helps. If you need additional computer assistance, please consider supporting me on-line at http://www.supportspace.com/support/expe... or visiting my blog on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/the_pc_ally .
Hi Rs player reynold545, My name’s Ron, and I’m a member of the Windows Outreach Team. I thought I’d take a second and drop in to try and help you out. First, some laptops were shipped without actual discs have had this problem. I’d suggest checking this page for next steps: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246. It’s a Microsoft support site and can get you on the road to finding a recovery disc. Also, depending on the manufacturer of your laptop and when it was purchased, you may have recovery software located in a partition on your hard drive. Did you notice a partition in your drive when you were installing Windows 7? Hope that links helps you out a bit. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. Cheers, Ron Windows Outreach Team

Reinstalling Vista over the previous version would restore the boot options I hope!
Download amp; run the Beta, find out for your self! http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows...
The answer to your question really depends on several things, such as when will Windows 7 be released, how much will it cost, etc.
keep vista w7 may(hopefuly) be a service pac for vista, and 7 really isnt all that good anyways, its really odd...
Does the computer recognize the WD? My Computer is it listed there as a hard drive? If it is not recognized go to Control Panel gt; Admin Tools gt; Computer Management gt;Storage gt;Disk Management gt; locate external usb drive.Sometimes the drive letters get messed up and you have to manually assign a drive letter. Usually better to use the letter J or higher. If it is recognized and you cannot install win7 what happens or what error messages come up? THe link is FYI
well as someone that has been testing it for a few months I will tell you that it is pretty nice, I really like what they have done with the GUI and the added features, they have also managed to improve the performance a bit which allows it to run on ultra portable sub notebooks, they have fixed a few of the annoying features from vista, but the kernel remains identical to vista, and the only reason vista is slow and problematic is because they decided to include a DRM system that runs beneath the os, and we all know DRM has always made things work slower or not work at all, and MS has done nothing to remove the crippling DRM and I do not think they ever will so amp; will probably be just as bad.
am running intel quadcore2 extreme q9650, with extreme motherboard dx38bt, 768mb video card, 4gb ddr3 ram, and i am used to using windows xpsp2. i know that my system is good to use vista. but i cannot see the point what for. all of my apps run on my pc. why fix something that is not broken? i am only excited regarding windows 7, if and only if prices of wacom cintiq and tablet pc s go down.
WIndows 7 is still Vista, so no, I m not too thrilled.
I imagine I ll hate it at first, but I ll get used to it.
can you make it a bit more clearer what your questioon is
It s better than Windows Vista, but that not hard. I don t think I ll be upgrading from XP.
The prices don t really change. Microsoft wants to promote their newest operating system, so they don t charge manufacturers more for the newest OS. In some cases, they actually charge more for the older one. This was the case at least at one point with XP, as Microsoft was trying to force people to adopt Vista. A laptop with the same specs won t cost more with one or the other, but you may need a machine with higher specs to run Windows 7. On the other hand, if you get one with Vista and want to upgrade to Windows 7, you will have to pay extra for that upgrade.
In Australia the price of XP and Vista machines were the same (unless you wanted Ultimate), I dont know what will happen in the states, but new software always has more bugs than the time tested stuff. But Windows 7 is really only Vista refined and more stuff added so its hard to say. I have been running Windows 7 Beta and have had no problems, but I didnt have any problems with Vista, in fact (except that it loads a bit quicker) it feels the same.
windows 7 beta avail now na. so to sell the complete tested version it take a while. so if ur planing for a new one get it now. if u wait till windows 7 . at that time may be laptop all using corei7 quadcore (intel) processors n 3GB DDR3 or 1GB DDR5 ram. when vista come to action, for cost of xp pro vista home(some version) was avail to market. so does it may be for windows 7. the xp pro is not selling any more. it is available through only some standard manufactures like dell,hp etc with their standard models only. hope there will not be much driver problems with windows 7 like vista all the best
it will be same price, they just lower the prices for vista computer And no longer install vista for any new laptops and desktops for sale.
no it shouldnt cuz ur forced to get it if u think about it... u only gonna get microsoft anyhow no matter what u buy or u buy it from so the answer is no. :)
The date of the Final Release of Windows 7 is under much speculation, however most indications point towards mid to late 2010 http://windows7news.com/tag/windows-7-fi... LUG.
The open beta is already out - info and a download link here: http://myslowpc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.ph... As for RTM and retail release I believe that s currently forcast for the first half of 2010.
Never in 09. It s expected to be released in 2010, but there s no specific date set.
Windows Vista is the buggiest version of windows and I m using it right now they ve been working on windows seven before the release of windows vista and windows vista is a rushed and no effort version of windows..... Windows 7 is by far 100% faster than vista and the bootup times on windows 7 are faster even than xp!!!! so yeah windows seven is set to be released on the second half of 2009 and its an apple killer by that I mean leopard killer because windows 7 is the best version of windows ever made. YES its better than XP Edit: Windows vista is not so buggy any more since the release of the service pack 1 but its still lacks performance. The 2 answers in top of me are very very wrong gt;_gt;....
I am at present using using XP Home. All I know about Vista is it s trouble. And this Windows 7 or Vienna as it s also called I really have no clue. Look below for info re Vienna. http://www.windowsvienna.com/ PS. I say if it s not broke don t fix it. No problems with XP.
Reading the reviews on it some time ago it apparantly is the same thing as Vista with a few more buttons to press. It s just as power hungry so no improvement there.
It is just Vista, with a little lipstick... Same Kernel, same boot time...
how can people here place an opinion when no one has even used it yet? I wouldn t judge something until it has been released it and i have used it
Windows 7 is the working name for the next major version of Microsoft Windows as the successor of Windows Vista. Microsoft has announced that it is quot;scoping Windows 7 development to a three-year timeframequot;, and that Windows 7 is expected to be released sometime in 2010. You can say goodbye to anything based on WinXp for good even though WinXp ran older games fine and was much more stable than Vista, which is what Windows7 is going to based on.
quot;yay... here comes another windows vistaquot; i am hoping that was some sarcasm there. Anyway, windows 7... if it is going to be something like XP, maybe called XP2 sp1 or something. i hate vista. or maybe ms has partnered with mac and they are shipping a cloned mac to vistas newest cousin?
Well, I ve read they re planning to come out with one in a few years called Windows Vienna, and it sounds just like Vista. Hopefully by then, Vista will be really upgraded and people will like it more.
I m really betting here that it is going to fall on it s face again... they, supposedly, are going to base it on the vista kernel, meaning vista drivers, and since the drivers are the weakest link, aside from HORRIBLE performance... I don t think there s much chance we re going to get a FAST and STABLE OS out of it... It will likely be just a minor re-hash of vista... The same idiots who developed vista, thinking they needed an OS who s display was as cool as some of the games being played on it, are aparently still in charge at mickey-soft. They haven t learned yet, that the reason that vista has flopped in the corporate setting, and had filtered down to home users being leery of the product is because it s a bad performing DOG. Neither businesses, nor most home users want their operating system to be quot;cutequot; at the expense of performance. Businesses, and the majority of thinking home users what an OS that loads in as absolutely minimal time as possible, that is responsive, and stable. Users don t want to spend time rebooting, or waiting for a quot;kewl fade inquot; or fade-out for every dialog box that comes up, they want the dialog box to not show up in the first place, if at all possible, and if it HAS to be asked, make it as quick as possible to get on with doing what it s supposed to do. If someone wants cute desktops and to sit around and watch their operating system perform tricks, and lessen their productivity, they already have a very stable choice to do so... It s called Mac OS-X. Microsoft reduced productivity to mac levels, without giving the user s the mac stability... That s like saying, well, our product kind of looks like a Ferrari... but it s performance level is just a tad closer to a moped, than the Ferrari. Users want their operating system to be: FAST, STABLE, SECURE, AFFORDABLE... Pretty much in that order. If it s not secure, it won t be stable, if it s fast but not stable, and you waste time rebooting, or worse-yet, typing a term paper and having the thing crash and loosing your last 8 hours of typing, you didn t really save any time, now, did you?
Hello- My name is Jeff and I work with the Windows Outreach Team. The official Microsoft Windows 7 Beta will be available to the public sometime this Friday, 1-9-09. If you want to be notified the moment it becomes available, I suggest subscribing to the Windows team RSS feed at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... . This will also let you know where the download will be available for downloading. If you have technical questions, there is a forum at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Foru... where people are urged to go to find technical information regarding the Beta version. Best, Jeff Windows Outreach Team
What does Microsoft s site say? Look there.
IE6 is not supported on Vista. You cannot remove IE7 from Vista.
What website is not compatible with IE7. Vista comes with it and IE6 is not Vista compatible. IE7 or try using Mozilla Firefox instead I use both and Mozilla seems to be the choice its smoother with less faults .Thanks
if you have your restore disk then your ok to try 7
From what I ve heard Windows 7 its not going to be all that different from Vista the taskbar its one of the biggest changes along with a few other things. But as far as performance goes it doesn t seem to be that much different from Vista (so far at least). If you don t have a separate box to try it on don t bother if you re worried about messing up your computer its probably not worth it.
If you want to play with a beta O/S do it on a different Hard Drive than the one you are using now. Go out an purchase a 80 GB hard drive if you can find one that small. Down load Windows 7 ISO and burn it to a CD. Remove the hard drive you are currently using and put in the new one. Then install windows 7 from the CD. Then when you want to go back to your old O/S just put in the old hard drive.
Windows 7 has great ratings so far, and supposedly performs better then all other versions of Windows! Translation: Yes, Microsoft payed off the reviewers, just like with Windows Vista, to say it is great. Vista sent them south, and without Gates running the show, this is going to bring them south more. Stick with XP, eventually Microsoft will have to go all console and ditch the PC, then Linux will be your friend. In fact, if you aren t a hardcore halo gamer, you can switch to linux now if you like, I recommend Ubuntu. www.ubuntu.org.
Windows 7 Beta 1 will stop working on 1st August 2009, unless you are like me and cracked it so it will never expire LOL !! Yet another one in the eye for Mr.Gates :) LUG.
August 1st 08.

Hi, my name s Cody, and I m working with the Windows Outreach Team to help answer questions users might have about the soon to be publicly released Windows 7 Beta. It was just announced tonight that a beta version of Windows 7 will be made available for public download on Friday, January 9! Anyone looking to find out how to get ahold of their copy of the new Windows 7 Beta the second it becomes available to the general public should go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... From that official Windows 7 page, you can then subscribe to the Windows Team s RSS feed amp; be the first to know when the Beta version becomes available for download. It s the quickest and best way to stay on top of any new announcements from the Windows 7 Team. Thanks, Cody Windows Outreach Team
2010 sometime. I m a bit relieved I only got Vista a couple of months ago I d be annoyed if they came out with Windows 7 (which will just be a working version of Vista) this year and expected me to pay for it.
There s no real release date yet.. but people are basically guessing october 2009 or sometime in 2010.
there isnt an official release date yet but it will prolly be released around end of 2009-mid or early 2010
late 2009 or early 2010...
quot;When it s donequot;
not yet official..Some sources claimed that 2010
june 2009
rumors says that maybe in the ends of 2009....
because it is still a BETA program. they are still testing it,and fixing it s bugs.
with Microsoft nothing is free, so the answer is no
I would have thought it to be highly unlikely. Windows 7 is likely to be quite different under the hood to Vista, although similar in appearance, so it would suggest an upgrade may not even be an option, or if it is, it would be very involved so making a possible upgrade pack very expensive, we shall see. LUg.
nope, no free upgrade, the money you pay is for the COA (certificate of authenticity) so you would need a new one with the new windows version, so you will have to pay. even if it s been a month since you got vista.
They usually only give free upgrades when the next version is within a few months of shipment to get people to buy then rather than wait.
Depends, if you bought your computer within a year before 7 is release then probably yes, otherwise probably not.
lol idk i think u dont? so how things 4 u?
Projected to be released in 2010, but Microsoft is trying to push it to the end of 09. Don t count on any free upgrades from Vista. There weren t free upgrades from XP to Vista were there? No! Microsoft doesn t make BILLIONS of dollars by giving stuff away.
Windows 7 is out 2nd half this year (unless delayed). Its currently in Beta 1, though this beta has leaked onto per 2 per sites. but any beta has problems, hence beta is just a testing stage to diagnose any problems. When Vista was due out in two months, new computers had a free* upgrade to Vista sticker on them. (*free +£16 usa taxes). I dont know of any upgrade to Windows 7, as yet. (im still probing for answers too), but i would suspect not. XP users did not get a free upgrade to Vista, same for apple Mac, no free upgrade to Leopard. Microsoft will offer a cheaper upgrade edition, but far from free. Ive been holding out on a new computer (currently had the free upgrade to vista as purchase pc when free upgrade sticker were out) and Im waiting for windows 7. http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/244563/beta-... Ive understand Windows 7 is fast. Beta 1 has just (this week) been released. see link. Prior to lat was a pre-beta edition in Oct. Microsoft plan to released for general sale Windows 7 in plenty of time for xmas 2009. I suspect last summer / early fall. P.s Vista is not a bad program, it had less problems than XP did in its early days. (people forget this). Beta 1 is just for press. join Microsoft beta testing and get it their. (anybody can join beta testing). ****NEW INFO**** Microsoft is planning a Windows 7 Tech Guarantee Program, where end users who purchase Vista systems will have the option (for a limited time) of upgrading to Windows 7. Microsoft s Tech Guarantee Program enables upgrading to a corresponding product at a minimal cost** (taxes etc, prob around £16) Eligible Editions : Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Ultimate Eligible Languages : Wave 0 to Wave 4 Available Upgrade Paths : Like-to-like product paths only (e.g. from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium) Once Windows 7 is released, OEMs can send Windows 7 upgrade disks to end-users who qualify. The Windows 7 installation will require end-user activation. Does look like Windows 7 will have as many versions as Vista.
Doubt very much there will be a free upgrade from Vista SP2 to W7. It has never happend in the past and there are to many new features in W7. Not to mention Vista SP2 upgrade is free itself. Current target to release W7 is end of 09 to early 10. The only thing released so far was a prelimary beta at the professional developer s conference last October. This is not a full public beta but, as usual, copies have been pirated and distributed. The first public beta is expected Q1/09. You can get more details from the horses mouth (W7 Developer s blog) at http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/.
Microsoft has said that Windows 7 will be ready for release in late 09 or early 2010. But the SP2 for Vista is in Beta testing now, you can find it on the Microsoft web site. Vista SP2 info here. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libra... Now as for Windows 7 being FREE to Vista users, Don t hold your breath! Microsoft is a for profit business amp; there for would rather sell you another OS instead of fixing Vista... And it is for this reason that I am moving as many of my friends, family amp; customers as possible over to Linux! It is a more stable, reliable amp; safer OS than anything Microsoft can ever produce!!
A release date hasn t been announced. Historically, new releases of Windows have not been free (although some computers, sold in the few months leading up to the release have come with a voucher for the upgrade). There s no reason to think it will be any different this time.
I ve heard a release date for windows 7 is 2010 (not offical jsut what ive heard) But the public beta is out,
Do it if you have the curiosity factor. I wouldn t suggest it if you require something dependable. The best situation would be to have more than one computer setup...one being your Windows 7 setup, and the other being your day-to-day usage computer. I guess use the formulas below: quot;I like to experiment with new technology and I have the experience to troubleshoot/diagnose/fix computer releated issuesquot; - Go with Windows 7, but have a backup system in place quot;I m not all to familiar with computer stuff but I like to keep on the cutting edgequot; - Stick with your current setup quot;I like new technology and have experience with computers enough to troubleshoot/diagnose/fix computer related issues. I enjoy problem solving and love testing new and exciting technologies so I can post to all my peers about what I findquot; - Make up your own damn mind
do you understand what Beta means?? windows 7 beta is not meant to be used as a standard everyday operating system. It is meant to only be used as a test system. Microsoft makes it very clear...if you read the documentation that you get when you download W7 Beta that it should be installed on a spare unit that you can have crash and basically afford to have screwed up more then not.
No, only use to test. It deactivates in August, then you will be stuck. I suggest hanging on to what you have until the full version comes out next year.
Nobody can answer your question because nobody has seen the RTM version of Windows 7. But personally I m mending my XP with duct tape so it holds together until Windows 7 and I can avoid Vista entirely.
you can drag ad drop [ that is tool bar etc. put them where you want up down top ] have fun
No. July 30th is the earliest. Most likely 2010
Most likely 2010
It s either then or by the end of 2009, as so i ve heard.
Roman shades are simple to make and can have a very clean, contemporary look. They can be customized to your windows very easily. Mount them on the inside of the framing (which is probably how your slats are mounted anyway) for the neatest look. These can be made with interesting fabrics and matching ones could be made for the french doors to give the whole area a uniform, streamlined look.
tall skinny drapes?
my mom had some off size windows in her house and the problem she faced was that any kind of covering blocked most of the light. she had been learning stained glass art for a while and decided to make some fittings for her windows. they were beautiful and with all the colors she used the light coming in became part of the theme of the room. wish you well, lily

Probably just a compatibility issue. Windows 7 has only just been released in the beta version, so it s hardly a full package right now. When the final version comes out, it ll hopefully have a backwards compatibility mode for XP/Vista games.
If you wiped the drive to get 7 on there, you have to find the vista reinstall disk and reinstall vista.
You need to get disk or download from store vista and change it back. But there s no way you can change it back without disk or downloaded files. Or when beta will end you could buy windows seven. good luck
You re supposed to install it on a separate partition, not wipe everything you already had. If you have to restore disks or Vista install disks that came with your computer, you re in the clear. Otherwise, you have 6 months to contact the manufacturer.
You can get the help you here at the Windows 7 beta forums. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Foru...

Aero is overrated and you can t even use it if you re running Adobe programs like Photoshop and Illustrator, plus several other types of programs. If you have a laptop it eats your battery quickly, too. Don t be disappointed.
i dont even no that 1 im just answering4 points lolololol
you should wait if your not in a rush because pc prices are dropping so quickly and good cards are geting cheap so wait
Most likely, Vista will just go away as did Windows Millenium. Vista is crap even by Microsoft s standards. This they admit by replacing that O/S completely and making available discs that allow people to return their computers to XP.
Vista will still be available but will eventually die out because it s pretty bad anyway. If you buy a Vista PC (Home premium / ultimate / professional) after July 1st 2009, you can get a free upgrade to Windows 7
probably only let so many copies out
They pulled the plug because all the proper testers have already downloaded it so its an unneccessary storage on server
They need to stop the flow of downloads so they can properly process the feedback being submitted by existing users in preparation for producing the final public release version. Those currently running Windows 7 will find it will suddenly vanish in August as testing comes to an end.
I heard that their servers were having problems dealing with all the people downloading, so I assume that has something to do with it. But at least they re still letting people register for serials.
Two reasons one they had good results with the first beta that they aren t having another one they are going straight to the Release Candidate so they believe they don t need the publics input. Secondly since the Beta is so good and if anyone could download it legally what would be the point of buying the finished product when they could use the Beta for free?
Microsoft wants always people to think that their products are valuable and precious but really they aren t letting windows 7 available for more time won t make people think so but they want them to still get it via torrents or whatever means and they will and they are going to release the price tag (in august ) so they don t want it to available via their site I agree also to the answer that they got the testing they think they need
Any MS beta s are only available for a month, but this time they extended it for an extra month, now it is closed, they didn t get all the data need in the first month, now they have what they want and need, W7 next problem will be compatibility with the software, like always there is going to be some of that. so people will have to pay to upgrades being proprietary software it will be at a high price. in other words a money making factor for the proprietary software companies, Ho well one day MS users will wake up to the fact that windows is a rip off, along with the proprietary application software, and they will never stop spending to keep their systems going, Having said that Linux will become well know within the next year It is now being used on mobil phones and is traveling faster than a wild fire out of control, MS have said that through the economical down turn they have had to make 15,000 job cuts, that s not the real reason is the number of people downloading Linux, and with well over 25,000 professional free application software packages and games that s a plus for Linux
Good responses to your question LuG- Its more or less a server thing, and honestly, MS doesn t need all that much input on this Beta. They do have a good product with this, and they are ready to start packaging it. As much as I would like to agree about the comment re: Linux, just can t. If Linux ever truly threatens MS, they will simply file suite against the users for using patented s-ware of MS s. That s another debate.,
Hold down your SHIFT and CTRL keys and press H Now click on the day you want....then right-click and delete on any site from that day. Cheers
I ve never heard of a 4 partition limit... Anyways, that dell utility 50mb partition looks pretty useless. But if you don t want to get rid of that see if the disk management utility from within windows lets you create a new partition. Also, remember to defragment before creating a new partition. Or else it might spit out some errors or fail while creating one. I have a quad-boot setup on my desktop right now between vista/xp/win7/ubuntu. Althought it s split over 2 hard drives, not 4 on 1.
Read The definitive dual-booting guide: Windows 7, Linux, Vista and XP step-by-step for possible solutions. http://apcmag.com/the_definitive_dualboo... QD1956
I wouldn t delete them, but you can use another partition tool to create more, that is just a restriction in vista
either try to reinstall it and if that doesn t work repair it while it s installed and if those dont work call a consultant and see if it s compatable with your computer
Nero 8. But I had nero 7 working on Vista before that. When you run Nero, make sure you right click the shortcut item, select properties, select compatibility and then run as Administrator. Should be all good
Since Windows 7 is beta, you re asking the wrong question. NEVER run a beta on a working computer. If it crashes and eats your hard drive (and it could very well do that - it s a beta), you lose your files. All of them. You run a beta on a computer that s being used ONLY to test that particular program. Then, if it crashes hard, you just report the crash and reinstall it to try again. People who aren t experienced beta testers should never even download beta versions. We keep getting questions here about recovering data from computers on which beta versions of programs hard crashed. It s an easier way of losing everything than downloading torrents is. Since you d be running 7 on a computer that doesn t have any files you need, you wouldn t have the problem of keeping the files you need, so ... no question. If you insist on installiing it on a working computer: Back up all your work, files, etc., to off-computer storage (CD, flash drive, external drive that you then disconnect, etc.) Install 7 without formatting. You wouldn t delete XP - installing 7 replaces XP. If you decide that you DON T want to keep 7, you d reinstall XP. (If you don t have an XP installation CD, the question is moot, since you won t be able to reinstall XP.) Reinstalling XP over 7 might reqire that you format the drive first - some versions of Windows won t install over certain other versions. I have no idea whether XP will install over 7 - 7 didn t exist when XP was written. You re really on your own when it comes to beta testing. The idea isn t to get the new version before everyone else does, it s to report the bugs (and there will be bugs) you find in the beta.
i recommend you back up every program or file you ve ever had to an external hard drive before you do any upgrade. and make sure you have the original xp cd that came with your computer just in case you don t like 7.i think maybe when you upgrade to 7, it just overwrites xp and you can roll back to xp if you re not satisfied. you also should back up your drivers and programs that came with the computer by going to start--all programs--accessories--system tools--back up, you ll need a dvd or two for this. you MUST back up your music, files and personal documents to dvd or and external drive on your own though. then you can load them back onto the comp. when you upgrade. i also read that windows movie maker and windows photo gallery and a couple other programs will not be included in 7 which is why i suggested you back up all your drivers and programs. good luck with your upgrade.
You can t upgrade XP to Windows 7..You can only install it from boot. You don t have to delete XP.You can just install Windows 7 in another partition as a separated OS. And if you wanna remove xp it s simple. When you are installing Windows 7 in to the same partition that you have installed XP it will move to a new folder called windows old. After you install Windows 7 you can delete that folder and you can get what you need.. Don t be afraid to install Windows 7 beta version..It s safe to use now.Latest version is Windows 7 beta Build 7000
When Windows 7 is ready, you will be able to upgrade seamlessly from both XP and Windows Vista. If you performed an upgrade (as opposed to a clean install), you would automatically lose XP in the process. Onuora http://www.windows7update.com
Nope, you can t roll back to Vista if you didn t dual-boot(install Vista on one partition and Windows 7 on another.) You can only format the Windows 7 partition and install Vista on it again, sorry!
Sorry, but if you are asking this, you should really not be beta testing Windows 7
Hey Dude.... Win7 is actually combination of good features of XP and GUI of VIsta And does your Compaq support Vista if it does not support then WIn7 will not install on your Machine as this is the OEM(Original Equpment Manufacturer) limitaion. Regrds
It s in the BETA testing phase, and this is what can happen. Notify Microsoft, with your Make amp; Model number, and wait until they figure out what went wrong.
check whether you have been installing the beta version (7000) and have downloaded it from microsoft s site. older versions have posed problems. also your installation media may be defective.
Vista is going to go the way of Windows Millenium. People stayed with Windows 98 until XP came out. It s the same deal with Vista. There are a few people happy with it but overall, it was a huge train wreck. M$ didn t just drop the ball with Vista, they shot it full of buckshot, swallowed the remains with a little bean dip, bent over, and umm......well you get the picture...lt;gringt;
No they need money :-P http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7
i would think so though i think vista is fine
From what I ve read on the next release of Microsoft Windows, it may have more to do with: - lack of broad acceptance of MS Vista - a more modular approach to MS Windows 7 - improved memory footprint, only install and pay for what you need (i.e. more ways to charge you for using their software) While I m sure security will continue to improve with each release from Microsoft, I hadn t heard that it was a reason for pushing up the next release. Another possibility could be that many of the features initially promoted as being for Vista are finally going to be available. Rather than releasing them as updates to Vista, maybe they ll just include them in the new version.
no. any computer can be hacked. its easy. you can t stop everything.
I refuse to upgrade to Vista anyway, im keeping XP till its dead in the water. Vista is so full of holes i could use it to fish with. Windows 7 is unlikely to be any better!
Yes it is. Your right on the money.
You should be able to.
go to control panel and disable automatic updates .. start/control panel/perf-maint/system/automatic updates/disable
First of all...DON T disable automatic updates, there s some important stuff that gets sent that way too. The window that bugs you to install IE7 should have a check box that says don t show this message again...try that.
Not correct. It ll be available for 32bit too.
Sadly It s not true. I wish it was though! Microsoft really need to drop some of the legacy crap. Especially now that PCs with upwards of 4GB of RAM are becoming commonplace.
It is incorrect. There will be a 32-bit version because there s a 32bit beta..
No way!! I m using Windows 7 Beta 32-bit now!!
how do you get a 64 bit copy if so and what is different about it.
Look like vista to me
that is incorrect!
no way!
If you install Windows 7 over the Vista partition, you will have to reinstall vista because you basically overwrote it. Please note - I don t think anyone has gotten that far, since the Beta build doesn t expire till August 1, 2009. (Or 120 days if you didn t get a beta key)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933168 Try what it says in the link. If you follow what it says carefully it should bring you back to vista. Now this is really meant for restoring from vista but Windows 7 is just vista with a different feel. As shado says no one has really gone that far yet but its either this or reinstall from scratch.
Hi 64’ GRAVISSIMA, My name’s Ron and I am a member of the Windows Outreach Team. I thought I might jump in here and try to help out. First, you’re going to want to locate your backup discs that you made before the Windows 7 installation. If you don’t have those, try making discs containing your important files and such, just in case. For info on removing and reinstalling your previous 0S, check out this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... You’re going to want to do a clean custom (clean) installation. Hope this helps! Cheers, Ron Windows Outreach Team
right-click on MY COMPUTER...select MANAGE..select DISK MANAGEMENT...right-click on d vista partition....select CHANGE DRIVE LETTER...click ADD... select a drive letter of ur choice... thn OK-gt;OK... that s all
it s your hewtt packet doing it.
I hadn t heard anything about that, but Microsoft might do a promo along those lines. It could help Vista sales on the one hand and be an apology of sorts on the other. We ll have to wait and see.
No because the people to created a new system has to pay for programmers, tester and other things so when the public have their product they have un easy transition to their new system, and microsoft always have un upgrade option in 1/2 price to the full system. I always tested new operators in a second hard rive or other PC, normally it take 2 years for a new OS to mature they always have bugs, and they have the people to work in these bugs in all times even if they have tested for a year.
No, no way Microsoft would do this. Its a good few year/two years from being released anyway - its not even in closed beta yet. But however long away it is, never expect a free lunch from Microsoft. Freely licensed software on the other hand... if you were running an open source OS then you wouldn t even need to worry about cost...
Well, Windows 7 has so much speculation right now. It probably won t be released for a couple years. And I ve also heard rumonrs that Windows 7 is really just Vista Service Pack 2. We ll see what happens when it happens. As such, it s not worth worrying about it at the moment.
If you want a free OS then dump Winblows and download and install Linux. With all the different distro s you ll get tons of free software, great security and a very easily upgradeable and free system you can play with till your heart is content.
No.
I doubt it. I just wonder how many different skews of Windows 7 will we have when it get s released.
No, Windows 7 will not be free. It s not an upgrade for Vista.
No. You will need to buy it.
Try making a bootable CD. Or try making an .iso file.... Or try Parallels for mac...same as virtual PC. I am running windows on my mac since a year through Parallels..no issues at all...Parallels accepts .iso files...it worked for me... Hope this helps....

Mainstream support ends next year, but extended support ends in 2014, which means you will get security updates...
Microsoft Corp. has reminded users that the aged operating system (XP) will be supported until early April 2014.
Yes.
No cause it was leaked and not by Microsoft. On top of that, it wouldn t be legal anyway cause no one is paying for it.

Depends. If you have a MS Beta invite then yes. If you mean the BT than no. Keep in mind that MS s Windows Genuine Advantage check has been reported as being used to provide authorities with information in the recent raid on Chinese software pirates.. I would wait for it to appear on Technet or I get my own invite.
not a good idea unless you realy know what you are doing and are capable of undoing the damage it can do to your system at the moment it is just a glorified Vista system not worth you trying it yet unless you have a spare old crap computer you don t mind getting screwed till you fix it. and yes i have tried it. it is just an advancement on the crappy vista and not worth getting excited about. ?
you gotta wait until they release a public beta. which should be around mid January - mid February.
You can t unless you reinstall Vista with the DVD. If you re lucky, your computer will have a recovery partition that you can use to restore. If you do have a recovery partition, Google: quot; How to use recovery partition YOUR COMPUTER S MANUFACTURERquot; Note: You will lose all data when doing either of these so back your documents up
If Windows Vista was preinstalled on your computer, then I think the only possible way to get it back is do a full destructive System Restore and bring it back to factory settings. If you installed Vista using a Vista CD, then get that CD again. If you do do a system restore... back up your files...
Lets get this right. YOU UPGRADED VISTA WITH A PRE-BETA WINDOWS 7 ???????????? Sorry but thats just plain daft. You will need to carry out a full re-installation of Vista. I just hope you have the disc. otherwise you are heading into major issues. BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA FIRST. LUg.
pc recovery..or system restore...how do i install the beta? can you tell me how u did it, i got it as a ISO file
download virtual pc, install windows xp onto it (it s a virtual pc so no messing up your vista. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/product...
you may need to get a newer version of the viewer from their website. i have got final fantasy 10 and that wont run unless i update the final fantasy viewer.
