How can i keep my windows vista on my computer with my windows 7? -

I need to keep all of my important files on my windows vista, but i want windows 7 also. I need to know how to put both of them on my same computer

I would have one or the other. But Windows 7 is not due to come out for a few months (full version, not the beta that came out Wednesday). But if you really wanted to (not advisable) you can put them both on separate partitions and duel boot them. Regards, Dane

You can dual boot by creating a separate partition for your new installation of windows 7. To do so from Windows Vista: right click quot;Computerquot;, click on quot;managequot; select quot;disk managementquot; from the left side Shrink the harddisk partition and the free or unallocated space should be however much you want to allocate to your new installation. Create a new partition from the unallocated space when you install windows 7, just select that partition in which you want to install in. After, you can select between Vista and Windows 7 keeping all your files intact.

This isn t a good idea. Even if you partition your drive, Windows 7 is a beta. I s not impossible for it to glitch and blow away your partition table. When running a beta, always put it on a computer you don t care about and make sure there s no important data on it.

This a tutorial on what your looking for. http://lifehacker.com/5126781/how-to-dua...
