Windows 7 is on the rise, so what happens to Vista users? -

Seriously, they re saying Windows 7 is basically a final version of Vista. Are Vista users going to get a free upgrade to Windows 7?? I d feel so ripped off if it didn t happen. At least Microsoft can release an update for Vista to make the performance on par with Windows 7.

Yes it s expected that Microsoft will provide most Vista users with free upgrades to Windows 7. But don t get your hopes up, XP will probably still be their best product.

Vista Home Premium/Ultimate are just fine, however when Windows 7 is released Vista will become very average, I have been working with Windows 7 (Builds 6801,6956 amp; 7000) It has the speed and stability of XP, and the looks and security of Vista. In short its everything Vista should have been from the outset and can t wait for the final release. I believe there will be an upgrade option, but as we are all aware the words Microsoft and Free do not go together in the same sentence. LUg.

Nothing - why would you expect anything to happen for Vista users? There was no free upgrade from Windows 3.1 to 3.11, to 95 to ME (yuck), to 98, to XP. There will be none for Vista to Windows 7. It s unfair to expect a company will just give out the new release. Too much cost in Ramp;D. Caveat Emptor. Just as an FYI, the Vista SP2 coming out this year does some have some of the stabilizations and features that will be in W7, but not many.

Well I guess you better feel ripped off because MS is not going to give you a free upgrade or copy of Windows 7. Live with it and if you want the new OS then buy it when it is released.
