Windows 7 ? -

Instead of getting a Vista now, should I wait for the Windows 7? I have the latest XP. Is there any point of getting a Vista if Windows 7 is coming out in the future?

If your happy with XP there is no point in getting Vista. It s extremely resource hungry anyway. Windows 7 is expected to be released on June 3, 2009 according to the most recent news lacking official Microsoft confirmation [1], and sometime near January 2010 according to an earlier claim by a Microsoft VP. [2]

I don t know if you ve been reading the message board or checking forums on the Web, but Vista is a flop and regarded as on of the worst roll outs and waste of time in the software industry. XP is still regarded as the best OS that Microsoft ever put out. There are editions of Vista that do not have all the functions of XP and Vista is definitely a slower OS that hogs a lot of RAM for no reason. The bloated OS forces users to buy more expensive hardware just to get the same performance that XP gives XP. It is better to have the hardware you have driving your applications, instead of pushing a bloated Vita OS. IE7 on Vista sucks and frankly,Vista gives users NO reason to upgrade unless you re into Direct 10X that is used for gaming. 99% don t need it. Beyond that, there are no additional features in Vista that make it quot;betterquot; than XP. I was a life lone Microsoft advocate on everything. But when my computer broke down, I needed a computer that worked and right then. Unfortunately all I could get were Vista computers-I see stories like this all over the web. Unfortunately for me, at that time, for the type of computer I was wanted, if I wanted a different XP on my PC, I would have been forced to pay for Vista Enterprise (there are no specs on what features it has) and then also XP and also spend days making sure I have all the drivers. No way I m going to spend money for two OS when the newer one, Vista, from the same company is seriously flawed. I got so fed up, I returned my computer after a few weeks and got a Mac. I then loaded XP and the office suite and use the XP stuff for business and simple things. But when I want to have fun on the computer, find myself on the Mac side. My point is not to push Macs-for me I was forced into that because of Vista and my needs. But, instead, you should pat you on the back for being smart enough to have XP-you have the best system out there for PCs. If you are looking for a new look on XP and simplicity I would recommend checking out checking out Rocket Dock that makes your computer function more naturally-It s something I did on the XP application of my Mac and helped load onto some of my friends computers. A virus free link if you are interested in downloading As for Windows 7.Let s face it, MS has had serious trouble delivering and innovating. It took them 8.5 years to roll out the version of Vista they have now and really, all they did is change the shell and even with that and so much time not real innovations or improvements. Don t get me wrong,XP is still excellent, but Linux is still in the catch up mode and beginning to innovate. When they can get their OS simpler to operate with fewer error messages to compete with XP in a year or two, there s no question that unless MS innovates and gets out of the mode in making Windows 7 just to keep out companies who markets they are trying to invade, there s going to be a changing of the guard. In other words in two years, MS will probably going head to head for the first time and not against one company they can step on like in the past, but two for their OS and one, possibly 2-3 on their Office Suite. It is expected to be a toe to toe battle and you might be wanting something different as your OS at that time- Another reason to still with XP I hope I ve been helpful

Having used Vista on company and other machines, I would say avoid it like the plaque. Even Microsoft (albeit unofficially) have admitted that it s a bit, erm, poo! There s a chance they ve learnt their lesson and Windows 7 will be okay but with support for XP continuing into 2011, there s no need to upgrade now.

stick with xp and then wait before you buy windows 7 to read the reviews of it and wait to test it out in a store youbdont want to go out and buy another os like vista

HANG ON TO XP AND DO NOT PURCHASE WINDOWS 7 UNTIL IT HAS BEEN THOROUGHLY TESTED - JUST LOOK AT VISTA

Stick with XP and wait for windows 7 i hope we finally get WinFS :D
