Is there a program compatibility utility for Windows 7? -

I m running Windows 7 in virtual PC, but I m thinking about upgrading my installation of windows vista to the windows 7 beta. the only thing is, i don t want to face any compatibility issues with my card reader, capture card, or software like my image mounting program. Is there a program, like there was for Windows Vista when it was in beta, that would allow me to see which programs are going to work? Thanks.

windows 7 supports all drivers for vista, so you shouldnt have problems there. you can also run programs in compability mode, so far i havent run into any compability issues with any program

No there isn t, as Windows 7 is still in beta mode the OS is not yet set in stone, and therefore any compatibility app they make might be out of date by the time it is released. Most generic devices should work ok (card readers etc), however other devices such as graphics cards, video capture cards etc might not have drivers that work yet, however keep in mind that Windows 7 is based on Vista, so you might get lucky using Vista drivers.

Microsoft has stated that every program and every device that is compatible with Vista should be compatible with Windows 7, so there shouldn t be a problem. As you are running Vista already, you can simply click upgrade during the installation, and all programs and settings will also be retained. If you are ever to add new devices, check if they are compatible by going to: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compati...

There aren t many compatibility issues with Windows 7 and hardware at this point in time, but there is a compatibility mode as in Vista and XP that will allow most things to run. If you can t find a driver for something, it ll probably be up in a new build soon.

Yes there is, if you right-click and select properties you can run in previous versions of Windows compat mode. Though, if it worked in Vista there is a strong chance it will work in 7.

Windows 7 will support most if not all of your Vista software and more XP software than Vista supported. There shouldent be any problems. P.S. I am also beta testing Windows 7 it looks great

thats why beta is for testing to find problems and vista is not beta anymore it is a released operating system
