You would have been better off using 7 in vmware- the version going around is a beta, hence the problems. if you installed it as an upgrade then have a look in control panelgt; remove programs (not sure if it is possible to install as an upgrade if you cannot do it there you will need to back everything up and reinstall vista. The link given by dillon will not help. the sticker with the licence on the pc is an OEM not an original. EDIT------------------------ You can download a new copy of vista from piratebay.com and then change the PID so that it becomes an OEM version and then use your licence key you will need to get the drivers from the maker of the pc
If you read the instruction when you where installing 7 you should have made a windows restore back up copy of your vista hard drive if you did then all s well and good if you didn t you are in trouble then, If you don t have vista install disk then it is a case of buying one, or downloading a copy of Linux 2009 operating system and installing that. Linux is free to download and use with all the software you will ever need also free to download All the links below are where you can download any of the 2009 linux operating systems
you cant just use system restore you have to go get the vista disks and re install them next time you need to do research windows 7 is still in beta you never run a beta as your main os on your main computer edit: you dont have the disks then you have to go and buy them if you dont then your stuck with an os that is gonna expire in august and has bugs next time you really need to do your research before you go and install an os on your computer
During the installation it will usually take your old stuff and throw it in a quot;windows.oldquot; directory. I do not know whether this will work or not, but you could try just deleting your windows, users, and program files directories, and replacing them with the folders in your windows.old directory. You will need either a linux live cd, Bart s PE, or the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows in order to try this.
There is a microsoft link in sources, if you click it you can order a cd of your version for free, provided you have access to the product key, which is on a sticker located somewhere on the side of your computer. PS use the upgrade option from 7, that way you ll still have all your files
Try and ask your manufacturer for a disk, i got disks for my dell
