Should I go 64-bit Windows 7? -

I got my Computer back in April 2007 with Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I have since ton a few upgrades on it. Now Windows 7 is coming. Should I got 64-bit or stick 32-bit? All my Apps are 32-bit.Will 32-bit die in the next 2 years? Here are my specs- NVIDIA 9400 GT 512MB AMD 64-BIT DUAL CORE PROCESSOR 2.20GHz 3GB DDR2 RAM LightScribe DVD Burner Driver FireWire 9 USB Ports and a SD Card Reader in the front. or should I switch to Linux? LOL

Answer to main question: Switching to 64bit with your current specifications will not give you any real performance enhancements. I would stick with the 32-bit OS for now. Why: The key difference between 64 and 32 bit systems, for most users, is that 64 bit systems can make use of more than 4GB of RAM. As you have 3GB, switching to 64 bit will not necessarily be an improvement. As more applications are coded for 64-bit systems, you will want to switch regardless of specifications. Answer 2: (Will 32 bit die in the next 2 years?) Yes... and no. You will likely begin to see more 64-bit applications, especially games, hit the market in the coming years. However, most software companies have little to nothing in the pipeline specifically for 64-bit systems. I think in about a year you will see the first 64-bit specific software hit the market, but you should be able to stick with 32-bit for 2-3 years without much trouble. Implied Question: Your system will run 64-bit specific applications :)

No because you are not very smart. read this from Yahoo Tech and Daily Features. here it goes. The real difference is that Windows 7 Home Basic -- the much-reviled stripped-down version of Vista that was designed for bare-bones PCs -- is now being shunted to emerging markets only, though it will still exist. But to confuse matters, a Windows 7 Starter edition, which will run only three applications simultaneously, will also be available. it well not do 1/2 much as vista basic. There very little drivers it. You better with XP window s or Vista Home Premium. You need to think about loading it and trying to use it. You may cry about now and here is something wipe your tears away.

I have PC that came with the 32 bit and I reburned it with the 64bit version. I really don t see that much difference with how I use this box, which is internet, gaming and music playing and creating. I do have more problems with running older applications with the 64bit. Some apps just don t run well on a 64 bit OS and in some cases they wont even install. So for my next reburn I m going with the 32 bit.

nice specs, but your RAM is horrible. Buy at least 2 Gigs (Because Windows seven derived from Vista, which ate up a lot of ram just to run at normal speed) (About 32-bit dying) i don t think so, since many computers as of now still run 32-bit. So you should hang on to that thought well after 2 years.

Windows 7 will run fine on that. The main feature of Windows 64 bit, is if you have 4 or more GBs of RAM. YOu don t so you don t need it. It uses more power too. Stick with 32 bit unless you plan on upgrading your RAM.

yeah when the full proper version of windows 7 comes out change to it linux is good because its the most lightweight OS but it takes a litle time to get use to and most windows programs dont work even when using WINE

Windows 7 is BETA NOT LIVE!!!!! windows 7 is out in 2010 you will need 64 bit just stick with what you have till 7 is released and get 64 bit.

2 points!
