NOW that i downloaded windows media player 7.1 from 4.1 on my compaq presario (windows 98) i have no sound ? -

the windows media player that was installed origionally did not allow me to store media files. i downloaded the free windows 7.1 from microsoft web site. ive tried everything. please help
